This place is amazing. My car broke down on the side of the highway, 30 miles away on a Saturday evening. After searching online, I found that auto mechanics in the area all closed at 6pm and were not open on Sundays. I was anxious and not sure what to do.Then I found Nickerson automotive, the ONLY place open on Sundays for hundreds of miles. I texted him to see if he could help me out. He immediately started asking me questions about what exactly was going on so he could try to diagnose it (which is a really great quality because it shows his passion with cars and trying to figure things out).I ended up having my car towed to his shop, and although it was after 8pm (his shop closed at 8), he was there waiting.I had to stay in a hotel that night as I was still 600 miles from home. The next day, sunday, he messaged me with the problem, and was able to fix it before my hotel check out. He picked me up in my car from the hotel.I feel very lucky to have found Nickerson automotive. Not only is James extremely knowledgeable with cars, he is honest, trustworthy, and kind.I then drove the 600 miles home, and my car is still doing great.:)Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic

James Nickerson is the first person we will call if we ever have a vehicle issue in the Redding area again. We got stranded on Sunday afternoon traveling to San Francisco for Vacation. The Valvoline technician that changed our oil the day before Vacation didn't properly tighten the oil filter and all our oil came spilling out of the Jeep in Dunsmuir. He was the only mechanic that called me back and was kind enough to get us in mid afternoon on a Sunday. He repaired the issue in less than hour- checked the system codes- sent me pictures and gave me documentation for a claim against Valvoline. If Google had a higher rating I would give it to him. He saved our vacation and charged us a more than fair rate. I wish he was a mechanic in the city that I've in!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic

So my car wouldn t start, everything came on, dashboard lights, radio, and air conditioning. I took it to him because he was the only place open on Saturday and he said he could probably get it fixed before Monday. He said the battery was sulfated, it wasn t holding a charge, and needed to be replaced. Just over a month later the same problem happened. I took my car to Auto Zone, they checked my alternator for free and told me that it was my alternator and that I should get it to a mechanic ASAP. My usual mechanic is open until Monday and the car seemed to be running just fine so I went to Target to run an errand. I got back in my car, and well, now I m waiting for someone to come jump start me so I can get home. This guy was clearly not thorough and now I have to spend more money. Oh and he only takes cash or checks. I won t be back!So I just wanted to add that I took my car to Roacha s Automotive and they said that my battery wasn t holding a charge because my alternator is going out. Considering that my battery wasn t holding a charge a month ago I m sure this was the problem and this guy is either not thorough enough to figure that out or just wanted to make a quick $275 to put towards his pilot s license. Watch out for this guy!Service: Battery

I broke down on New Year s Day and James Nickerson met me at his shop. Got me back on the road by Monday afternoon. He worked on my truck over the holiday and weekend. I was in a real bind. My abs system went out and i had no idea what to do as I was heading to Portland which has really steep mountain roads en route. Nickerson was able to diagnose and fix the problem in minutes at a very fair price. Thank you so much nickerson automotive!
