First time here was reasonable, Am2 fuse would short and they fixed it for a reasonable price. Came back a week later to get our check engine light taken care of. Told us an estimate of $300 dollars. Ended up being there for 3 days and came out to $750 so first off, don t trust the estimate they give you whatsoever. Secondly, they left the keys in the ignition in the on position over night so when I paid and went to leave, it wouldn t start and we sat there for 30 min waiting for it to charge. They are very nice people but how can you let something like that happen.

J&D took such good care of my Truck. Was running terrible when I took it to them. They fixed it so she rums awesome now. They also advised me of another issue and fixed that too. Now my rig runs great and drives like a sports car. Thank you J&D. I will be back!

Brought a power stroke diesel Ford in with power steering leak, Dan said he had a good idea where it was and what the cost it would take to fix the leak? The charge came in under what he thought it would be.Very likable, knowlegable and honest owner. I will be going back to them for any other repairs.Service: Steering & suspension repair

I was sent a survey via text from J& D Automotive minutes ago. I did reply with a dissatisfied survey and when submitting it, said it was down for maintenance at 10:30 ish in the morning.So here is the written I gave.I would start out saying I think the mechanic did his best to ensure his work. When I walked into the shop and was handed an estimated bill of over$200 and asked to sign it, that put up the red flag. When the same gal talked behind the wall and sent the mechanic to speak to me, she replied, "May the force be with you." Now finances are low and I asked as anyone would do when someone else tends to their car..."Please let me know what you would be doing before you order any parts and work you're planning so I can decide on if its affordable." That didn't happen and a part was delivered and work was being done. I asked the part guy what he delivered and he mentioned an emissions type part, which coincided with a code that had been pulled by another mechanic shop as a courtesy. So I talked with the gal and she said they ordered the part and would see if that was the problem. So now I'm in for X amount of labor because they didn't get my upfront approval for this. The part was $77 and when given my ticket the shop charged me $221 for it. I was astounded. I asked about the price and why the shop was charging so much? Her response, "Well whats a gallon of milk cost a dollar, and they charge six."I was always kind, respectful and never condescending to all employees. The things the woman at the front said in front of me and to me were not professional by any means, but its the ignoring of my request regarding my property and the upcharge that makes for a terrible experience.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

Called for a quote to get a axle rebuilt. All other shops in town said around 2000 this man said 6000 to 7000 for a basic rebuild for a classic car. I feel it was a get lost price but at that not professioal just say no thank you dont have time or were to busy. For someone whos is unknowing they would have gotten robbed by this shop. Please do your research and find a honest mechanic who is there to do the right thing. Will never call or go here again

We had a bad experience with J&D Automotive. Our van stopped working and so our son took it to J&D to get an estimate. They diagnosed it and gave him an estimate of $1892 to fix a relatively minor problem. We thought it sounded unusually high. We called another automotive shop, and the owner also said it sounded really high, and that he could fix it for a much more reasonable price, which thankfully he did. This little escapade cost us about $200 as J&D charged us $135 to diagnose it and it cost us another $77 to have it towed, but the story ended well. We just wish we had never taken it to J&D Automotive. After reading the other reviews more in depth, its clear that this is a pattern of this business.

I am really grateful from the help I received here. My car had 4 codes, my engine light was flashing and I was so worried that it was hopeless. My car was in and out in less than 24 hours, and they have Car Care which helped cover the cost. They were nice enough to give me a ride back to work once I dropped my car off, and Dan the owner called throughout the day to update me on what they were doing. I felt very comfortable with them working on my car, everything was broken down for me step by step. I really do suggest them for any type of repair!

HORRIBLE! These people and their prices are nothing but highway robbery!!! The owner Dan will make you feel like he cares and wants what's best for your vehicle but watch out, he has many HIDDEN costs that he and his staff don't even discuss with you. My vehicle broke down, I called J & D I asked if they could replace my fuel pump and filter as I KNEW this was the problem, they said they would take a look at my fuel pump and filter at NO COST to confirm MY ASSUMPTIONS. Again they said NO COST to verify. Well once my vehicle was towed to them, I was stuck and was vulnerable to them and to their services. What they said they wouldn't charge for they charged me over $200 FOR THEM TO VERIFY MY FUEL PUMP AND FILTER needed to be replaced. ARE YOU KIDDING ME, I was the one who told them what needed to be done and they said they would verify that AT NO COST, no cost my rear!!!! What is charging me over $200 for then???? they also replaced my front brakes which they said they would bleed the brake line as well. They DID NOT BLEED the brake line as I have just discovered there is copper in my line and it has not been bled. My point folks is they, particularly the owner DAN is not who he claims to be, he is shady and throws in hidden costs.

My very pregnant (8 1/2 months) daughter and I bought a used car from J&D Automotive in the end of April this year, 2017. It was a 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue. We were told by the owner that he had replaced the engine and the newer engine only had 34,000 miles on it so the car should last a long time. The car was for sale for $1,900.00, as is, but with this newer motor, what could go wrong. She took it for oil changes, and took good care of it. She has had it about 6 months and noticed it started running hot. We had it towed to our mechanic in Red Bluff and he found block sealer and a cracked head gasket.I just got off the phone with J & D Automotive letting him know and asking if he wanted to buy the car back, he said he "personally drove that car for 7 or 8 months with the AC on, because that's the kind of person he is", and no, he wouldn't buy it back, he doesn't know what anyone did to it, hmmm. I know what my daughter didn't do to it, she didn't let anyone mess with the car, why, because we have a mechanic and I help her with her bills. Also, we ended up paying him $2,000 for the car because he charged me for an oil change before we took it and the smog. Then when he gave us the bill of sale and registration, he put down that we only paid $500.00 for the car. I was really uneasy about that, but he said it would save us money. At the time I thought, yeah, you aren't thinking of us, you're thinking of the money it will save you in taxes. Now I realize he may have done it because who is going to believe that when we bought a car for "$500.00" and it breaks down, we would have any recourse. In other words, I do not recommend purchasing a car from him, and after our experience, I certainly wouldn't use him for my mechanic.

J and D Automotive really saved me. My car broke down on a long road trip and I was towed to J and D. Dan (the owner) and the young man at the front desk were so polite and helpful. They did a great job fixing my car and even came in an hour early to get it done so that I could get back on the road. They were very thorough in explaining what had happened to my car and what options I had to fix it. They even drove my son and I and our two dogs to and from the hotel where we had to stay the night. Thank you J and D Automotive.

Excellent and fast inspection, $70.27 out the door. Communicated necessary repairs in easy to understand terms. Will do business with them again!

I had a lot of work done on my 2001 Nissan. After I picked up the car there was still a noise problem. I finally took it back for a check over. After a few free fixes by J & D Auto the noise was still there. Mike, one of the service persons, finally found where the noise was coming from & had it fixed for free. The guys and gals at J & D are wonderful folks and went the extra mile to fix my car and find the source of the annoying noise. I can call at anytime and get super fast service. Everyone there is nice and friendly. I recommend them to all the gals out there that can't find an auto repair place you can trust. They are the best.

Shysters! They charged me $136 for a quote on a catalytic converter, stating that they had to do there own tests to confirm that's what it needed even though I told them and already knew that is what it needed. All I wanted was a price for the part and how much labor would cost. Didn't even offer to put the $136 towards the repairs if I got them done there. The quote ended up being over $2000! went somewhere else for a second opinion and they were able to diagnose for free and fix the problem for $420.

I had a water pump issue and brought my car (with high mileage) in without being too sure what was wrong with it. Let me bring to your attention that I am not car savvy whatsoever, my friend is a little but we really didn't know what was going to be wrong with it. I left my car with them for the weekend, and the first day they let me know it was a water pump issue and a thermostat issue, possibly some head gasket issues, and some radiator hoses needed replacing. The bill ended up being a lot bigger than I expected, so I just let them do work on the water pump. 2 Days Later, Ryan called me letting me know that they did extra work anyway, but they did not charge me for labor! I had to pay for the extra parts but it turned out not being too much more expensive. I used my AAA card and that got me 10% off the bill. The car is running great, and they are not just good at their job, they are good people at heart as well. I'll be going here again.

My 99 Jeep WJ needed a new passenger side cv boot on the front axle.Current custom is to replace the axle rather than the boot. Current custom is more expensive for the customer but eliminates questions about the old exposed cv joint status.J & D did the work, let me inspect the completed installation while the car was on the rack, explained my other chassis conditions that could be addressed and identified a rear wheel seal leak that needed to be done.I had them do the rear wheel seal repair.However, the car now pulls to the right which it did not prior to the repair visit. I am aware the axle replacement should not cause an alignment problem.But now I have need of a front wheel alignment. Tire inflation is the same on both ends of the axle.

Paid 5k to have a bunch of work done only to find out they didn't set my monitors after disconnecting my battery. Went back in to see why and Steve argued with me and flat out refused to make it right. Jd Auto is the rip you off shop I have looked at many of the post and the comments about this shop . The owner Dan is a shyster I have had my car in his shop I would have to look four five or six times now really the only thing they got right on the car was the coolant reservoir and even when they done that they didn't check the radiator hoses the top hose you can almost stick your thumb in and the bottom hose is just as bad so something they didn't even look at why to bissy trying to rip me off with the new coolant tank and what ever else they could possibly say needed replaced.so I let them do their thing to the car and I gave them enough rope to hang themselves and the did they hit the underneath of my car with I already know with what the floor lifts one of the pegs was up and I'm thinking the mechanic or what ever they call him was pissed because the car been there so much and he like I said mechanic or what ever drove my car into shop and blame tore up left side of car damage some stuff and here is the kicker they tried to repair it and put other parts on car I know for fact they changed parts I put in parts they messed up and when you see new parts where you know old parts should still be and the shop and your garage is only place car has been well you tell me and car was hit way under car so. Yep take your car else where you will thank me later.. Right Dan

I would give them one star, but the employees are very friendly and professional. The two star rating goes directly to the owner. Ridiculous prices, and all the shops in this area seem to be this way. They want 1441.00 to do my A/C. Had to go across town, but it cost me $680. Need I say more?

I had my transmission go out while traveling to Redding to see my family. My brother referred J and D they worked thru the weekend to get us back on the road.This was in 2011 and it's running great still.

My experience with J and D Automotive was very bad, we took our car in to them, spent over $700 and my car quit the very next day. I'll pick another shop next time, so many to choose from right there on Hartnell.

Got a quote for transmission repair for 6,981.36Had it done by Transmission company down the road for 3,462.21.Something is way off!
