Dropped in for a smog did not have an appointment, but Lauren was able to get me in right away. Terry had me in and out of there in less than 15 minutes.

Its a small town, most people know most people, so you can trust most shops up in Ramona. Went here most recently to have an axle shaft get an ol bearing off and new pressed on, was done quickly while I ran errands in town, got a call when it was done. Price was fair for today's standards, and as simple a task it was, still tipped my mechanic.

Always a fair price, know what they are doing and sometimes no charge when they could have billed us for something more exotic that did not really happen. Good place if you know nothing about vehicle repair and need someone you can trust.

We took our 1959 GMC Truck into Dave's Auto Truck & RV Service on April 13th, 2023. They called us on August 9th to tell us it is ready to pick up. That is 4 days shy of 4 months! Let that sink in 4 months!Work performed was both front wheel bearings, and both rear wheel bearings and axle seals. 8 hours of labor listed on the bill. 4 months to do 8 hours of labor. Working on it 1 hour a week it would have been done in 2 months. Why did it take 4 months? We were told at the time of pick up that it was not a daily driver . That should have no bearing on when they work on it. When we took it in we asked for it to be done in 3 weeks, they did say it could take a little longer. They kept putting other customer vehicles ahead of ours, over and over again. Even though I would call every week to try and move things along. We eventually found out that there was one technician that was working on the truck and that he also did all the smog inspections and ran the whole shop. Poor guy, he sounds overworked.We called 29 times in those four months to find out the status, but they were never able to tell me. We were always always told let me go check and I ll call you back , there was never a return call. Finally I was told that they will only call back if there is something to report. So only when work was authorized at the beginning and only when the truck was ready, 3 times in 4 months did they call us. This work was done in preparation to sell the truck. We told Dave s this when we took it in. I had put an ad up and anticipated a 3 week repair, 4 weeks at the most. And as such we had buyers lined up a few weeks later to buy the truck. All of those buyers are long gone and now we have to re-list the ad and go through the whole process again.We want to submit and open a case with the Bureau of Automotive Repair to look into it, but understand that time is an issue they cannot really enforce. We still may contact the BAR, we ll see.The bottom line is that communication from Dave s was very very poor, especially when keeping a customer vehicle for 4 months. If a customer states that they need the vehicle in 3-4 weeks then they should work to get it done in that time, no matter what.

Called Dave s auto & RV to get work done on my generator. I told them it was quitting after about 15 seconds of operation and ask them how much it would be to diagnose and service the generator. They quoted me $60 plus any fluids needed. Called me later that day and said they had to do work on the carburetor too and the cost would be $270. I reluctantly agreed to the price, picked it up brought it home started the generator and it still quit after about 15 seconds! I brought it back again and they called me back saying it would be $1200 to replace the control module! Their office manager said I would ve had to pay for the service anyway so what s the issue? How about diagnosing the problem upfront and providing me a reasonable estimate instead of charging me along the way until you figure out what the problem is? I highly suggest using another business.Service: General repairs & maintenance

I've been coming here for couple years now. The work that has been completed has never been an issue and completed in a timely manner. Terry, the mechanic that does the work on my truck is the best. The service in the front office is knowledgeable and amazing. I always receive call backs with updates to keep me informed on what is happening (never left wondering what's going on). I will be coming here for as long as I am in the area . Thanks for being a reliable, inviting shop in a world where it's hard to find a shop that can be trusted.

My husband has been using Dave's for quite some time now, and I finally took the time to bring my car instead of going elsewhere.I could not be happier with my decision! Not only was the service efficient, but they made me feel like such a valued customer even on my first visit.Kim took the time to really explain the work that was being done on my car, and also let me know of things that could pose a problem in the future, and what I can do to avoid large expensive repairs in the future.Thank you Dave's for your commitment to amazing customer service, as well as being educational for your customers!

Good communication, reasonable prices and there are still willing to work on the old stuff. They smogged my 86 Motorhome they tested, repaired a few faults and retested. While they had it I asked them to also do general service. They charged me a reasonable price for the work done. They did it quickly and it was a zero hassle experience. I have been a customer of Dave's Auto for 12 years. Through these years, I have been consistently impressed by the quality and reliability of service and by the courtesy and efficiency of the office staff. They take the time to explain automotive needs, and offer alternative solutions to vehicle problems. In addition, they are on a first name basis with their customers and treat them like family. I would never take my automobile anywhere else.

Dave's Auto is one of the best and most reliable auto repair shops I've ever used. I trust them implicit with the repairs of my truck and car. The staff provides fantastic customer service! I would highly recommend them for any auto repairs needed for your vehicle.

I took my truck in for a smog and found it didn't pass due to a faulty sensor in my tank. after taking out the tank and replacing the sensor the warning light still was on so they said they needed to charge me for another diagnostic. I was over a barren so I told them to go ahead. They also told me that there is a government discount that if it cost over 500 dollars to fix my truck to make it pass smog then the state would pay for the rest. well.... it ended up costing me 1000 dollars and when I got the bill after I picked it up I was told that that state government program was no longer there so I needed to pay the whole thing. My truck had to sit there for a couple of weeks while I came up with the money. after paying them off I drove my truck for about a week and the service engine light came on again. I also now have issues with power and my gas gauge is messed up!!!! I refuse to ever take my cars back to Dave's and if you are smart, you will not either!!!! Unfortunately the only recourse I have for such poor service is to tell my story and hope that others will read it before they decide to take there car in.

I have been using Dave's for a number of years, starting with my work van after finding they accept Enterprise fleet services. The girls there treated me like we were family. They were prompt, if there were additional recommendations they notified me promptly. They have since done work on my personal vehicles , helping me make sure they were safe enough for my sons to travel cross country....with not one problem...i have taken my mom's car there..my mom's friend's car and they were happy to help ..even to the point of letting her take the car even though she didnt have all the money ro complete the bill , which she promptly did on her payday...the people at Dave's are great! They get all my buisiness and i tell every one i know about my dealings with them..top notch service with a smile..i will not go anywhere else..5 stars !!!

Went to Dave s to get an engine light checked out and Lauren at the front desk was amazing! They were quick to diagnose the issue and fix it and they kept me informed every step of the way. They care about their customers and I will bring all of my vehicles here from now on!

The most terrible service I have ever received. I was hopeful that I might find a chassis service shop for my motorhome in Ramona. Took it in with an intermittent starter problem. Their solution was to start it once a day and put me off for three weeks. Finally pulled the job and brought it to The Diesel Man in Escondido who immediately crawled under the coach, pulled the starter, brought it to a local shop and had it tested on the bench. In the meantime, he found two loose wires to the starter and one to the cranking batteries, either of which could have been the problem . Short story, in less than one day, problem solved. The folks at Dave's are nice enough, just totally incompetent.

This auto shop is my go-too for all my auto s. They have properly maintained my vehicles for years, everything from the simple oil changes to more complex diagnostic, trouble shooting issues.....always come back as they veput my needs 1st. Not theirs . Honestly, this is a small community, and it s not often that an auto shop makes you feel like family. And that, is why they ve earned my buiseness, and kept me driving safely on down the road. They re just an old fashioned, honest, hard working team that continues to use old world, hard working values, that keep me coming back. Highest respect

This is an email from Rv & auto parts dated April 23 2018.Hello,Thank you for your recent $196 order (1-116127). We apologize for delay, but unfortunately our shipment of UNI. Molding is taking much longer than expected.Part 20-1309 is not in stock in the quantity that you ve ordered. I do only have 3 in stock at this time.Please let us know if you would like for us to modify/cancel/ or wait for your order.We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, and we greatly appreciate your patience.Thank you,I have been patiently waiting because I really want the parts. I have called several times only to get a response that the manufacturer doesn t respond, so do I want the three that they have or my money back? What I want is what I ordered over three months ago!If I ever get my order filled I will never do business with these clowns again. This automotive shop was so helpful to me and my new business! i am a new business owner and needed my work truck done to get my tree services done. they got my truck in there found out what i needed and got it done! my truck has been running great sense i started taking it to daves auto! I recommend taking your vehicles here for sure.

I have been bringing my vechicals to Daves for about 5 years now. I was referred by a friend who has been going for 15.I can honestly say I think everyone here is a standup human. They have helped diagnose and fix several issues along with regular upkeep.They have always been kind , fair on price , quick to get parts in and work done.They also do a great job of letting me know what needs fixed immediately and what things may be coming up in the future. Thus entirely avoiding unpleant expensive services, always with a detailed explanation that makes sense to those of us who don't speak mechanic.If I didn't already respect them enough, I let them know we will be moving out of state , and they researched a local, family owned NAPA store close to our new address and reached out to make sure they were good folks for us.Can't say enough good things about Daves!!!

I do not trust anyone else to touch my vehicles. Over the past 15 years Dave's Auto has always taken care of my vehicles. Hate to take my car to the dealer instead of Dave's Auto even when warranty is covering the work . As a response to the angry people who are not satisfied. I do notice that every one of them could not pass smog or had to spend more money than they wanted to due to more problems with there vehicles than they were aware of. Thats life.

I started bringing my car to Dave's about a year ago and am very satisfied. Great customer service! and my vehicle is running great! I will always take my vehicles there and i recommend taking your cars there also!

They did what they said they would....did not charge me for a inflated repair. Highly recommended for fair service.
