The last honest mechanic! I brought two separate cars in (Subaru Outback and Hyundai Elantra) for several issues. Great communication, fair pricing, even received recommendations for saving money with DIY repairs. I will not go anywhere else for my future car needs!

Called and made a same day appointment for a smog check and was out of there in about 15 minutes. Nice and easy and most of all, Close to home and nice people working there

Hubby and I were stranded on the side of 50 after our Audi Q7 engine started to sputter- we were towed to Hangtown Foreign by way of recommendation from our tow driver and boy are we thankful! Super friendly staff provided timely answers and speedy service to get us safe to travel home. For the emergency repair provided, price was very fair and within reason and the blasting AC and clean waiting room were an absolute plus while our family of 4 (&pup) waited. If that s not enough, my son left his cell phone behind and they re mailing it to us to avoid a long drive back, a huge thank you to Matt and team for taking such great care of us.

Highly recommended!! Matt is a miracle. I ve been in this business for 12yrs and never met a mechanic like him. It s like he his gift wrapped in compassion. Something about him makes all the difference. Mechanics have so much power to cause problems, yet he causes solutions. He s smart and quick. Tons of certificates in his office to validate his way of doing business. Definitely, check him out. He replaced an alternator on my 2003 Honda Accord. Thanks to him, I am back on the road. Thank you Matt and his crew!

Matt is a trustworthy, hardworking, excellent mechanic. We have been taking our cars here for several years and he always shoots straight, does a great job and turns around our vehicles quickly. His pricing is good and he will make recommendations that are helpful in understanding immediate needs vs. repairs that can potentially wait. I cannot recall when I first went to Hangtown Foreign Car Service but it was probably 25 years ago. I consider this business to be as good as it gets for car service and I have not gone to anyone else since day one. I have had them work on at least four (4) cars and will entrust them with all my future cars. Everyone who works there is a professional! If you haven't discovered them yet, now is the time to do so! I am proud to claim Hangtown Foreign Car Service as the best and I have no reason to even consider other service providers for my foreign cars!!!

Matt and his team are the best in the business! There is nothing like having a mechanic you can trust, and Matt is as trustworthy as they come. He has done work for us on our mini Cooper and on our Volvo, and is always price competitive, honest and timely. This is the place to go! I took my 1999 BMW 528i here for front breaks, alignment, and some front end work. The work was done well, with a warranty, and within two days! Great mechanic name Matt they have on staff! Been taking our BMW and Subaru to Hangtown for about 5 years. Always get good, reliable and fair service from a shop we can trust. If we have any issue with the repair/service they've always been happy to make necessary adjustments. Phil and his crew are very professional and a pleasure to work with.

After working with the dealer this place is a dream! They were able to get me in very quickly, explained everything clearly, answered all my questions, and were more affordable than what I had previously paid. I really feel like I can trust them to help me with any of my car problems. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. I m a very happy customer.

Walked in for smog appointment and 12 minutes later, was on my way home! Fast, friendly and efficient. Oh, and I drive a Ford....so not JUST foreign cars for smog.

If you re looking for honest, reliable service for your BMW, look no further. They did a great job fixing the brakes on my 2011 328i at a very reasonable price. Now that my car is no longer covered by the dealer service warranty I will be using Hangtown Foreign Car Service to maintain my car

I have been using Hangtown Car for over 14 years for exclusively serving my (2) AUDI TT's. Always fast and reliable...recently repaired my electrical "blinkers" which I thought might cost a bunch of money for a reasonable cost. These guys know their Audi's, glad I don't have to go to Sacramento for real professional service. My only complaint is there are no espresso coffee and croissants offered.

I trust them as much as I do the Land Rover dealership. Phil and his staff always go above and beyond. All repairs have fully been explained and they do not try and up-sale. I am spoken to with kindness and repairs have been completed in a timely manner.

I brought my car here to get a smog for the DMV. The mechanic looked at my car for 5 seconds and then told me I needed to replace two connector pieces in my engine. He told me there was NO WAY it would pass smog without replacing these two pieces. He did this without even trying to run the smog. He then told me it would cost me $250 dollars to replace the two connectors...... So $250 + the cost of the smog.... At this point I decided to do some research and get a second opinion. I found the parts online and found that the parts would only cost them about $10 TOGETHER, so I guess somehow it was going to take them 2-3 hours to replace two connectors on my engine and charge me $220 in labor.....??? So I took it to EZ Smog & Automotive Repair in Placerville (great and honest) and didn't mention the connector pieces. They didn't say ONE WORD about it and my car passed the smog without a SINGLE ISSUE.... Bottom line, this place is DISHONEST and will rip you off at any chance they get. If you want to save money and have someone honest work on your car I WOULD NEVER GO HERE. Horrible experience with people who have ZERO integrity. I am a single owner small business and having an honest contractor and saving money is VITAL for me. I don't know how they have positive reviews, probably people that had no idea they got ripped off.

I have received excellent service over the past 12 years from Hangtown Foreign Car Service. They are extremely knowledge and treat you as a friend as well as a customer and go out of their way to work around your schedule. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a foreign car specialist.

While this shop may be good at fixing cars I suspect that they prey on the uninformed. Their "diagnostic evaluation" of my car was not specific at all; and, in one instance dead-wrong. Phil told me that my coolant system was"leaking everywhere"; however, upon closer inspection I found that only ONE TUBE had a small hole! They tried to charge me hundreds of dollars without justification. They just were not truthful. So, I took the car elsewhere. And... What does it say that the owner posted his own 5-star review?

I love this place. As someone who always has German cars and has struggled to find a quality mechanic it was so great to finally find a place that looks out for my vw so well. Great for oil changes and maintenance as well as repairs. They tell you like it is which I appreciate.

I have been using Hangtown Foreign Car Service for almost 20 years. While Joe has retired, Phil is still there, and training a new crew. Most recently took our '99 Miata there to fix the suspension that a shade tree mechanic screwed up. While there we realized that the timing belt had not been done, a miss on our part, so we had that done, along with the water pump, from main seal, and cam seals. A bad electrical connector caused a return to the shop, after pick up, which they fixed, FOC.Service: General repairs & maintenance
