I took my 2008 Lexus in because the check engine light was coming on intermittently. They charged me $220.00 to diagnose the problem, which they said was due to a bad ignition coil. To replace just the bad coil would be $347.00. Thanks to You Tube, I found that this is a very easy fix. $61.00 for a new coil from Amazon and 5 minutes and it's fixed. I understand that they have to make a living but the quoted price doesn't seem so affordable to me.

Incredible service!! On my way back from Tahoe my truck overheated on 50 east of Forni Rd. I'm stranded on the side of the freeway with my 7-year-old son and towing my boat. I decide to let it cool and try again. We got as far as Missouri Flat Rd and pulled over again. Luckily, I ended up at Hangtown Affordable Auto Repairs front door (thank God). They were busy working on other repairs but knowing we were stranded they took me right in and in a couple of hours we were back on the road. Oh, this was a Friday at 1pm. Awesome people and perfect repair. Thanks again guys!!

They probably do good work, but claimed no work on vehicles older than 2000. Other reviews stated they had older vehicles this Hangtown shop was taking care of. Then they claimed they didn't have a lift for my '96 Dodge travel van. They hadn't even seen it - this all by phone.

Hangtown Affordable Auto Repair's service was both prompt and reasonably priced. I received texts with photos and videos to give me real time information as my car was getting serviced. It allowed me to decide which repairs should be done now and which I could do later. The repair fixed the problem I was having and I will be back soon to complete some needed maintenance.Service: General repairs & maintenance

So far I have brought my personal vehicle, 2001 Ford F150 as well as my staff vehicle, a 2011 Honda Civic. HAAR replaced the flywheel on my truck and repaired the AC on my staff vehicle. Both times they were super friendly and super fast with getting us back on the road. They have always been very upfront with what works need to be done and go the extra mile in explaining possible causes and sharing photos of parts. Will definitely use again and recommend to others.Services: Transmission, Air conditioning

Initially, we went to them to have our jeep serviced because they are known and recommended as "The Place" for the best service on jeeps. We were so pleased with the work they performed on the jeep, we decided to bring all our vehicles to them for service and repair. They are reliable, honest, friendly, and knowledgeable. You can count on them for excellent service at a reasonable price. And the little treat bag when you pick up your car is a very special touch. This shop is special!

Great service, both customer and auto. Probably the best thing they do is their 53 point inspection that includes photos of any trouble areas. Highly recommended.Updated review: Their service continues to impress me. Just today, the owner took a video from under my pilot showing a transmission fluid leak. I'll take that to the dealer to have it reviewed for a warranty repair. Couldn't get any easier.

Our son and his family moved to CA from AZ where we own and operate a vehicle repair shop. So after our son tried Hangtown Affordable Auto he phoned to tell me how it went and had a very nice compliment....it feels like our shop. Hangtown Affordable Auto Repair is possibly the Best Auto Repair Shop in El Dorado Co.!!!!!!!I'm retired and live on a fixed income, My household consists of 3 people with 4 vehicles, (89 Jeep Wrangler, 99 Ford Explorer, 04 Mercury Sable, 07 Dodge Ram 1500) Hangtown has serviced and repaired all. Work is always performed to total satisfaction and within a reasonable time frame. They offer discounts, that most shops don't! They offer a free shuttle. The staff is always friendly, and the waiting room is always clean! They provide you with information on things that need to be taken care of, and let you decide! No pressure.Satisfied Customer 5 Star

Hangtown Affordable Auto Repair is the best mechanic shop in the Placerville area. Their services are fantastic, prices affordable, and customer service second to none. They provide electronic quotes, appointment reminders, service discounts, rides, and, no kidding, gift bags! Hangtown Affordable has been is the only mechanic in Placerville I can trust.They have worked on my Chevy p/u truck and my Buick La Sabra, from oil changes to fixing problems before they start to become major issues, and got me deals on tires.They also have shuttle service. Its nice when they take you home or pick you up when your vehicle is completed.And they are a Pet friendly.They care about you and your auto.

The staff was very friendly. I was not feel pressured into getting anything done that was talked about. They gave me an written estimate online which I found very helpful. The only mechanic I recommend.The only mechanic I trust my vehicles to and the only one I will recommend. No pressure to up-sell services. Provides pictures of issues he thinks might become problems later. VERY fair prices. Fast work. Extremely friendly staff. Lots of free advice.

Really happy with the service here. I liked how they sent the diagnostic data to you online so you can review it and have it for future reference. From there the quality of work was good with good attention to details. They kept me updated with text messages on the status of the repair which was also great.

I recently took my truck here for repair and was pleasantly surprised. They did a very thorough inspection before any work was done and emailed me a copy. Very friendly and professional, I highly recommend them for your auto care!

I took my 1999 Jeep Cherokee to Hangtown Affordable Auto Repair hoping that Jacent could fix some drivability issues that had been bothering me for a long time. The first thing he did was a very thorough inspection that resulted in a detailed report. The second thing he did was help me prioritize the things that needed to be done, taking into account that I didn't want to pay to have it all done at once. He did the work at a very fair price, and when I got the Jeep back, it drove like a whole new vehicle--all of the problems I'd complained about were gone. I'll definitely be going back to have Jacent finish the things we didn't get to this time around. Besides all this, Hangtown Affordable was an absolute pleasure to deal with. I can't recommend them highly enough.

We won a auto care basket at our childrens elementary school years ago & it contained a gift from Carrie & Jacent. We took our family car to them for service & we were so impressed with their honesty, integrity & personal interest we have been going there ever since! I wish I had known about them sooner!

I have taken several cars to Hangtown Affordable Auto for a while now and could not be happier by the honesty and professionalism of both Carri and Jacent. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for that personal touch and to know exactly whats wrong with your vehicle (good or bad). With two Daughters in college traveling home once a month I feel great knowing that their cars are safe to drive after the thorough inspection that Jacent does during a routine service or a needed repair.

Hangtown Auto, Jacent in particular, helped my wife awhile back. She was running errands and the oil light came on. She stopped in at Hangtown Auto and Jacent took care of her, stopped what he was doing, put in a quart of oil, checked things out, sent her on her way. We decided that these folks ought to be taken seriously. So, I took my Buick in for a break job, and once again, Jacent went above and beyond. It takes a lot to make the extra effort to not merely meet reasonable expectations of service, but to provide the courtesies that create a relationship between a customer and a mechanic. You're trusting a significant aspect of your life into the care of a mechanic when you drop your car off. When they do more than you could even have expected, in terms of service and courtesy, that creates trust and confidence. That's been my experience so far with Hangtown Auto.

Always helpful, friendly, and honest. I ve been a customer for years, it can be hard to find a trustworthy, honest mechanic but Jacent fits the bill. I ve never had a less than stellar experience with the work or customer service.
