Good honest machine shop. I've taken a few 22RE motors here, a 2LT and a Volkswagen ALH.I don't question Don, when he says I need something I know he's right.If you want good honest machine work, go to Gould's Pro Cylinder!

If I could give this shop 10 stars, I would! I had a time sensitive repair, they got it done. Had additional unforeseen issues not related to the mechanical repairs, they helped with advice that saved the day. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Thank you Senior & Junior!

I brought a set of heads from my 73 VW Campmobile in about 20 years ago. I brought them in due to Stripped out exhaust studs. I brought them in and the had them out super quick. It was something like $40 bucks for 2 heads with multiple stripped bolts on each one. They did great work. I'm going back to have my 2006 Duramax heads checked for leaks and to make sure they are flat. This is not a job I would trust just anyone to do because taking these things in and out is going to be a Royal Rumble brother. So I'm sure things will work out great with these people that have been around forever in a small town like ours. That in itself is saying something good.

JR at Gould's has always gone above and beyond to take care of me. This is something I value greatly as being a woman you sometimes don't get the most accurate information and can get taken advantage of. I was personally referred to this shop and I won't go elsewhere and have them work on my classic car and daily driver.These guys are a smaller shop and have a good reputation so you may need to plan accordingly and wait your turn. I want things done right and it's worth waiting for. It's like a restaurant if all the restaurants are busy and a few aren't there's probably a reason. Locals know where to go and my experience has always been awesome.

These people were very professional, kind, caring and fixed car quickly and efficiently. They did not overcharge us and they put our car first when they had others that were waiting. They did this do to our emergency situation. I really appreciate them and their kindness.

YES I USED GOULD PRO FOR A BOTTOM END ENGINE REBUILD FORA VW 1.9L DIESEL ENGINE. MOST SHOPS IN THE SACRAMENTO VALLEY WILL NOT TOUCH OR EVEN REBUILD THESE ENGINES .WELL AFTER A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH A COMPEDITOR I CHOSE GOULD PRO CYLINDER.GLAD I DIDTHE ENGINES BOTTOM END WAS BUILT TO SPEC AND FULLY BALANCED WITH NEW COMPONENTS.PRICE AND VALUE WAS GREATSMOOTHEST RUNNING TDI VW I HAVE EVER OWNEDENGINE HAS ROUGHLY 10,000 MILES ON IT NOW AND I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER WITH MY DAILY DRIVER.HAVING A SECOND TDI ENGINE BUILT BY THESE GUYS SOONTHANK YOUDANIELService: Engine repair

Rebuilt both heads on my Toyota 3.4 and cleaned my injectors. Started up like a champ and runs so much smoother now.Competitive price and great advice and tips for this shade tree mechanic.Pretty sure they're going to see the head off my Land Cruiser soon...

Gould's Pro-Cylinder head can be described in two words: Unprofessional, and inadequate.I recently took in a Subaru head and asked for it to be PRESSURE tested and resurfaced. I was quoted just over a 100 dollars for this--normal for just one head. Oddly enough, I did not receive a work order to sign, and I regretted this later. First, Gould's machine shop was supposed to call me when my head was done being worked on, but I had to call them about it when I had received no calls by 4:00 the next day when it was supposed to be done by that morning. This set the tone for the rest of my transaction with them. When I went to pick up my head, the charge was only 46 dollars, and I did not receive any paperwork for the work done, only a credit card receipt copy. I asked what happened to the other $60 and the guy made it seem like I was the one who had no idea what I was talking about. He said he had VACUUM tested it and that it passed just fine. The head was also clearly resurfaced. Being the weekend warrior mechanic that I am, I did not know the difference between Pressure testing and Vacuum testing. Pressure testing checks for cracks or pores in the head, while vacuum testing checks to see if the valves are seating well. At the time, I just figured vacuum testing was the same. On top of this, before cleaning the head, Gould's removed a small pipe from the head that had been pressed in, they did not reinsert it before giving it back to me, something that I obviously couldn't do at home.I had a bad feeling about Gould's so I went to another local shop (Kelley's Automotive and Machine in Shingle Springs) and had them check BOTH of my heads this time. I was astonished when the 'new' shop VACUUM tested my heads in my presence only to show that several of my valves on both heads were not near the amount of pressure that they should be. I couldn't believe that Gould's would just lie about having performed a vacuum test, but because I got no work order, there was nothing I could do to disprove them. While at Kelley's I was also shown a set of heads identical to mine that had been surfaced by the them, and the difference in the quality of the job was night and day. Kelley's surfacing looked like it was OEM factory grade while Gould's looked like it was done with ancient technology in comparison.Long story short, Gould's is very unprofessional and has work that is acceptable at best. Their prices also do not reflect their lack of quality of service. Maybe it's because I am hardly just 19 years old, but I believe that no paying customer deserves to be treated with the awful service I received from Gould's Pro-Cylinder head.I would not recommend Gould's to my worst enemy.-Garrett

These guys are fantastic.. Any problems I have with my vehicle I Either don't want to handle myself or I can't handle myself it's this father and son ran shop I'm going to every time and definitely recommend all too as well.. You will get all questions answered from people that have probably seen it all.. And they stand by their work.. I didn't meet everyone there, but everyone I did meet are the kind of people anyone would be happy to talk to..

Jr at Goulds is a beast wealth of knowledge. His help in building and machining my motor and parts is why I'll always come back. There's givers and takers in all trades and these guys are givers in knowledge work and help.
