We were coming all the way from Ohio as a traveler RN and needed a place near the hospital for our RV for long term. We did the whole vetting process over the phone or by mail and were accepted and couldn t be happier. The staff is friendly and attentive and they actually reached out to us to ask us if we wanted a different site with a deck and had a larger yard because they knew we had kids. It was so kind and has been so great. We have privacy and a large space now. And just this week they layed down gravel because they noticed the puddles where we park our truck (we didn t ask them or complain, they just noticed it and did it). The grounds are kept up and I can tell by the chatter that they are trying to improve the place from lax rules and attention from previous managers. My family is very happy here and we highly recommend for short or long term RV sites.

We've stayed here several times, mostly in the lodge and cabins and it's a great place in a wonderful location. There is new management and Anna Maria & Brian are doing a great job with this place. The staff is much more attentive now and everyone is friendly. It's run like a business which makes it nicer for those of us who enjoy a not so chaotic place. We have definitely noticed a positive change with the new managers and enjoy it. We love the hiking in this area and there is always holiday events at the Park now. Thanks for the Halloween fun this weekend! All the kids loved the hay money grab! The pumpkin carving contest and decorated sites were fun too! We'll be back in a few weeks and look forward to it!

We have been here 3 times so far and have had so much fun every time! They have great amenities and the grounds are beautiful. The managers go above and beyond to make sure you are having the best time possible. We are already planning our next trip because our kids had a blast and the staff made us feel so welcome. This place is definitely one our favorite places to camp!

Location is decent, it's a bit rundown but overall not terribly bad. Set-up nicely for family gatherings and plenty of activities for children, with lots of potential to be great. The new management & crew at Gold Country Campground Resort absolutely need a course in hospitality and customer service, if they expect repeat customers and new ones to return. The restrooms were continuously without supplies and the parking lot is unavailable for parking, even for very brief amounts of time.As another review has mentioned, the prices have gone up outrageously, and while they said it is to provide upgrades throughout the resort, we also saw no upgrades to justify the absurd increases. Therefore, my family will not be coming back here, after many years of annual trips. After seeing their responses to negative reviews here on Google and here on Yelp, it's evident that they have no interest in taking any of these reviews into consideration and maybe reflecting on how they could run a better business and receive continued support by repeat customers. Instead it sounds like they would rather place blame on everyone else, and evidently have plenty of time on their hands to do so. Perhaps if they spent as much time reflecting as they do on the defense, then this place would be thriving. As a digital marketing specialist, I highly recommend taking the time to learn how to respond effectively to low-rated reviews. Online reviews are an important part of digital marketing, so it's essential to learn how to respond to them in a way that is both professional and helpful, without seeming dismissive and defensive.

What a great campground! My wife found this gem and we won't be going anywhere else. They have a splash pad, pool, mini-golf and a game room! And the staff have been awesome! They keep the grounds looking great, the bathrooms are the cleanest we have seen of all the places we have camped! They have one person on staff who monitors and cleans all the bathrooms at least once an hour! The office staff are so helpful, friendly and accommodating. The management is doing a great job and hope they keep at it! They told us they hope to bring back activities, campground movies, and more next year. Definitely going to tell our friends and family about this great camping spot!

Absolutely loved the settings! The cottage was well equipped for what you are looking for. Campground was SPOTLESS and well maintained. You can tell there's pride in what they are doing with cleanliness this well taken care of. We will be coming back just for the peace. After a 9 hour drive this place was perfectWalkability: Plenty of trails

A little confused by all of the negative reviews. My family and I have stayed multiple times now. We have tent camped, Rv, and even rented out the cabin this time around. Each experience has been pleasant, and the staff have been nothing but kind and super helpful every time we have visited. The bathrooms were clean which is always nice when camping in the woods! We got to participate in the Halloween activities they hosted this weekend and it was a blast! My kids really enjoyed the pumpkin carving, and trick or treating! We be returning!

This is our 3rd time here and the staff is so friendly. Lots of fun amenities for our family. The bathrooms are always very clean as well as the property itself. My parents told us about how awesome this place is and we couldnt agree more. Cant wait to come back and stay in the cabin for the Halloween festivities. Thank you Brian and Anna Marie for an amazing stay every time.

Never again.UpdateWe booked directly at the reception when we arrived. We did not receive any email at all from you and were not told at the reception when we booked about any policy.Considering that you didn't send us ANY email, didn't tell us about your policy when we booked, you could still return to common sense and refund us for the last day.

My husband and I went to the Halloween event this past weekend, and it was an absolute blast! It was so festive: from a Jenga contest, to a pumpkin-carving contest, to a campsite-decorating contest. Management and staff were phenomenal in accommodating all of our needs. We will absolutely be coming back next year!

This was our first stay at Gold County Campground Resort. We had the best weekend at their Camp-O-Ween. Our family enjoyed all of the planned activities. The campground was clean, the view was serene, and the staff were incredibly friendly. We just got home and we are ready to book our next trip at GCC!Nearby activities: An ice cream parlor, convenience store, and restaurant, were all a short driving distance from GCC.Safety: Gold Country Campground Resort was incredibly family friendly. I felt that our kids were safe to run around and explore the amenities and activities.Walkability: There was a swimming pool, basketball hoop, mini-golf, billiards room, and recreation room in walking distance from the RV sites.Food & drinks: The office had snacks, drinks, and souvenirs to purchase.Noteworthy details: GCC staff set up a fun schedule of activities for Camp-O-Ween weekend. The kids enjoyed the jumbo Jenga tournament, hot dog lunch, hay money grab, costume contest, and the movie in the recreation room.

I've been dreading writing this review but the decline that we've seen at Gold Country needs to be addressed. Our family (approximately 75 people), has been going to Gold Country for 18 years for our family reunions, and we've made the sad decision that we are not going back. It has never been the cleanest place, but we were OK with it, as we looked at it as a step above tent camping and it had accommodations for almost everyone in our group, (ages 1 - 73). The prices have risen to crazy amounts, and while they say it is to provide upgrades throughout the resort, we saw very little upgrades to show for them. We arrived at 2:30, (check in is at 3:00), we were told our room was ready but there would be a $5 charge for early check-in. I've never been charged a fee for checking in early anywhere else, ever. The lower clubhouse has an evaporator cooler but in order to use it, you need to open a window or door to properly vent the air. The only windows that had screens were nailed shut. The other windows that opened were full of spider webs and had no screens on them. The doors didn't have screens either, so we had to either keep the room closed up and sweat, or open the door or windows and let the bees and flies in. In August of 2022, we reserved the lower clubhouse for the following year at the price of $250. Throughout the year, we were notified that the price had gone up, first to $350 and then to $500, (the website says it rents for $450, plus you get 5 car passes and 20 day passes). The day before we were supposed to get there we were told we never made a reservation and it was up to the manager to decide if they were going to give us the room or not. Luckily my mom was there and went to the office, she asked to see the paperwork for our group and the original reservation was there. They ended up honoring the original price, but we didn't get any of the parking passes or day use passes for our guests because we were "already getting an amazing deal." Instead they charged people in our group that were coming in from other locations, because they didn't have enough lodge rooms, cabins or cottages to accommodate everyone in our group. So bottom line, they still got their beefed up price by charging everyone that came in. I know they are going to say we didn't abide by the rules, like they have stated in so many rebuttals to other reviews, however we did the best we could based on the rules we knew. Throughout the 18 years, we've had to adjust to different owners and managers and have been able to adjust just fine to all of the past changes. Our kids were never destructive and yet they missed out on a lot of activities because they now require an adult to be with them at ALL times when doing anything there, from playing in the splash pad, to miniature golf, to playing in the arcade. They said others forced them to change these rules, but they also have cameras everywhere, so I don't really understand the need to micromanage the kids who just wanted to enjoy themselves. The staff tried to take care of us, like they always have in the past, but were inhibited by the management. I did find it strange, they never called the managers by their names, it was always, "The Manager said........" I hope they do well in the future, and I hope the resort outshines this management team and gets back in the limelight because it is truly a diamond in the rough, there is just soooo much wrong with it at the present time. Sadly, it's all caused by management.

Owner this is for you get your facts straight we were asked to leave after I approached a worker asking if we could please use the RV bathrooms due to my wife not able to fit into the campsite bathrooms and the bathrooms being very nasty even poop on the walls we got kicked out because we wanted to use a clean bathroom we never broke into any bathrooms we were giving the code by another worker that did understand our situation the night before and we only had 6 kids and 1 dog not 2 and mine was the white one your confusing us with someone else the other two dogs weren t our dogs. Nobody came to our site to talk to us but one time about the other two dogs being on a leash which we told him those weren t our dogs. When I approached a worker was 8 am than the general manager comes out asking us to leave and giving us 2 hours to pack and go but please explain to me how was I supposed to pack everything in 2 hours when my children were still sleeping and when the sheriff arrived only our tent and a couple of things to be picked up and when my wife asked for the refund you said you would give us you keep telling me wife that you needed to see how we would leave the site and when we were done now you want to say you will call my wife to tell her about the refund until this day nobody called you lied please stop with the lies we never even used the campsite restroom that s how disgusting they were so yes please show me proves that i did what your claiming it s not good to lie there were kids by themselves on scooters maybe those are the kids your talking about. We were even advised by the sheriffs to take you to civil court because they saw how your workers were laughing about the situation and understood unjust was done to us all this happened because we wanted to use a clean restroom and even recommended us new campsites that are much better than this one. We were treated like criminals just because we wanted to use a clean restroom I never did what your claiming we are very respectful people.

One star reviews are 55% do the math. This overall rating is of. Every complaint is mainly crew and in response management blames the visitor. Just do math and read. Management is awfull even when they act like they like you. They don't like to clean the bathrooms so they are locked often and change codes. For those who stay long term they won't let you use the bath house if they don't like you which is breaking the lease. Sure new management will come soon after speaking with the owner so maybe next season. The locals in all of Amador County will be having a discussion. You are making our community ugly. I read these reviews. It is a shame they all came at the time of new management. The owner should really look into this.

I like camping here. I have been a few times for family reunions back in the day. First time camping here solo. Campsite was cool. Spent 4 days. Come to be told I can t schedule another 4 days at night campsite for a reason only known to the owner I guess. Only allowed to be here 4 days at a time and I couldn t even get an answer on when I could be back. It s funny because I m willing to pay another 263$ to camp another 4 days, but not allowed to because of a policy made by the owner, but nobody is filling the other campsites anyways. Kind of irritating that the owner would make such a policy. Forces people to pay for other type of sites to stay more than 4 days. Sad to say it but probably won t be coming back exactly because of that policy. The staff when talking to me weren t even happy about the policy either. Which sucks for the staff because they seem like great people.

Customer service was none to minimal - We were charged extra for missing hand towels and tiny wash cloths. We left whatever was there in the room - but were still charged extra. Talked to asst. manager and she didn't listen to what I was saying which was kinda rude. She kept on insisting that it was not there - whereas I said there were no hand towels in the first place and she never listened. They only provided 1 small roll of bath tissue in the restroom but if you run out ( after hours) of it then you are out of luck as it can be replaced only when office it open

Clean Campground and RV hookups. My parents came up and stayed a week and they're 41 ft RV with a tow behind and had no problem parking. They got a miniature golf course for the kids a water park in the summertime with fountains and splash stuff to play with but no slides. Staff was friendly and Lake taboo is just down the street for a peaceful day fishing.

I just wanted to say that I am praying for all the managers specially for the general manager because you have no human kindness when I asked you and even told you I would pay extra to use the clean bathrooms because my niece is pregnant and wife they didn t fit in slot you didn t care and kicked me out shame on you! You never came to my site to talk to us I asked if we could use the clean restroom you told me we had 2 hours to get out and you had called the sheriffs department on us and would reimburse us the last night which never happened we never got the reimbursement keep in mind I approached a worker at 8am because my wife needed to use a clean restroom and got kicked out. May god help you learn to treat others with love and respect and have compassion for others because you weren t racist but beyond unhuman

Me, my husband and my family absolutely love this place, so family oriented and the staff is so gracious and accommodating. The new host Brian and Anna are doing a fabulous job cleaning this place up and trying to fulfill everyone's expectations I just wish people would respect that and try to work with them to make it a nice place to visit and not criticize so much. Everytime we leave we end up making another reservation
