This place is awesome. They guys who work there are on top of their game, no questions. Very fast and very reliable. I had the pleasure of working with Jesse and Chad, and they are the real deal. Shout out to Jesse ! Came to get my truck smogged on Monday and was told they were waiting for tech. The waiting room was filling up and the tech didn t show. Jesse handled the situation very professionally, explained everything, and told us the options. Obviously wasn t happy but what can I do. Came back few days later and got smog. Jesse remembered me calling me by first name apologized again for the previous debacle and we got er done within 15 min. Quick, efficient, courteous, professional, and easy going.

These guys were the worst, I was there for almost 30 minutes with no help, when I went into the shop and asked for help the employee was extremely lazy, and no help at all.

We bring all our cars here - even the aftertec car. We are always pressed for time and this morning they took around 10 minutes to complete our smog test. Danielle (sorry if I mispelled her name) was very nice and handle the process and the smog test very professionally. After using several other smog test stations in Petaluma over several years we keep returning to A Smog Test Only because of the consistent and fast courteous service.

30 year old guy in a backwards hat mouthed off at me for waiting in the wrong area. Even when I tried to be respectful and apologize he continued being aggressive and rude. Took my business elsewhere

Easy to get in easy to get out. Since this is a TEST ONLY location and my car didn't pass, I had to go get the repairs done elsewhere. Some might not find this convenient but when you know you're car isn't going to pass Smog and you need to know how much you're going to be spending without having to come out of the pocket up front getting a test only helps determine where the issues are.

My one year old puppy and I landed here today for a quick smog and registration renewal. Super nice folks. Professional. Easy. In and out within 20 minutes. Don't go here. Website has false advertising that you get a free retest if you don't pass. THIS IS NOT TRUE. They make you pay at least $50 to retest. I showed them their own website and they didn't care at all.Edit: had to update this review because I mistakenly said they are "pay only if you pass." The paid retesting was the real issue. If they truly offered free retests, this review would not exist.Services: Smog certification, Emissions testing

Great service. Came to the shop in the afternoon to get a quick smog test. The vehicle would've passed, but since the battery had been recently disconnected they told me the car needed around 80 miles on it for the monitors to run a self check. Luckily I had time to take a drive out to the coast and I made it back in time before closing. Only $10 for the retest, and they even were able to print out my new registration and give me the new sticker in the shop. Very happy to have been able to get everything done in one day. I'm way overdue on a review for this place, but better late than never. First off, I have hybrid Honda - nothing upscale or fancy, but it's a great car. But what a shock to get the notification that CA has (yet again) figured out another way to suck the lifeblood out of hard working residents. But I digress...I looked at reviews for this place before making my initial call, and since everything said was favorable I decided to give them a call - AND the price was the most reasonable!I was more than pleasantly surprised by the voice that answered the phone - I could just imagine a smile on the face of the guy I was talking to. Appointment not necessary (bonus points), and all the necessary paperwork provided once the work was complete.I was NOT disappointed - this guy was super friendly and knew what to do. The waiting area wasn't appointed with 'posh' accommodations, but it was comfortable and there was a nice selection of reading materials. (I'm not paying for a designer waiting room, I'm paying for a service!)Would I recommend to friends? 100% yes, and strangers too!

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A FEMALE!! YOU WILL BE HARASSED BY THE AUSSIE!!!!If I could give this place zero stars I would. I came in to get my car smog 12 minutes before they closed since I called the day prior and the female receptionist informed me that the smog should only take 10 minutes. I get off of work at 5:30 every day so I thought I could make it with the little time I had. The person on the phone was incredibly nice and helpful however when I came in the Australian man came out pacing back-and-forth making me incredibly uneasy. He then decided to yell at me saying You know we close in 12 minutes!!? to which I responded apologetically I know I m sorry I was really hoping to get my car smog today and instead of kindly saying I m sorry we don t have any more availability which I would have completely understood and probably would have tried again the next day IF he expressed it nicely, but no. In a rude and yelling manner he said fo you even have your paperwork?! GO GRAB IY FROM YOUR CAR!! as if I was his little kid that did something incredibly wrong. It felt VERY demeaning. I stood there flabbergasted for a moment that he was reacting this way for no cause since I came at him with kindness until I decided to not be harassed by him anymore and said You know what with your attitude, Im good I work in customer service and I can say that he was the worst person I have ever dealt with! Funny as I was the customer and he was the provider. They had a sign for a long time saying that they were going out of business and from my experience I truly wish that they were!

Super fast, very knowledgeable.A bit higher priced than some others, but worth it for me, because there was no hassle at all.They also do dmv stuff, registrations, used car purchase registration, so could be a one stop shop during these trying times.

The shop that I've been using for testing closed early last year. Found this shop and a discount coupon online. Brought my DMV renewal the car and coupon without making an appointment. Finished in 20 minutes. Highly recommended

They claimed my vehicle Failed and charged me $10 to retest. Sign out front clearly states "Free Retest"Claimed my vacuum lines were damaged. I took it to my mechanic and he showed me the line were barely starting to show signs of cracking and stated they were Not even Emission lines. So they would have Zero effect on the smog test.My mechanic also stated that he knows the owner by name and is known to be a Crook. Fails about 70% of vehicle's, going out of his way to nitpick minor issues and claims them as a reason for a Failed Smog test. Like in my case.Upon returning just hours after initial test for my retest. There were a couple of Hispanic individuals getting the run around and being sent to another shop for needed repairs (likely Fabricated issues). . I have lived in Petaluma most of my life and I have been coming here for 8 yrs or so, I can't believe this happened. Very unhappy and will NOT be returning.I would Save yourselves some $$$ and a headache, running around trying to fix things that don't need repairs.Go elsewhere!Services: Smog certification, Emissions testing, Registration renewal

Super quick process- I got the smog test for my out-of-state car and was in and out in 25 minutes. The front office staff were helpful and friendly. Definitely will be using this company again in the future!

Too lazy to do smog test 40 minutes before closing - other shops have no problem doing it in less than 20. Told them I live in the city and will have to waste an entire day coming back (to a better shop)

I showed up with no one there. 2 people walked in after me. Both of their cars were started before mine. The lady is also very rude. The tech on the other hand is awesome. She made him do the other cars first and he even tried to point out I was first.

This was a frustrating visit from start to the $90 payment many hours later. I called and the nice reception lady said they were not busy at all. I was surprised by this since it was a Saturday, and most other stations were closed. What could go wrong? The first clue was a full stuffy waiting room, many cars in a que and one technician. The reception lady said it would be 50 min. This seemed unlikely, so I checked with the tech and he scoffed, and said it would be at least one and 1/2 hours. I walked in the rain and cold of the first winter storm, and returned promptly. My car had not moved at all. The second reception person seemed used to stretching truth. Yes, your car will be next, I was told. Going back into the warm stuffy waiting room another customer was told his car was next. The customers sat in sullen silence, quiet as sheep. I decided to break the ice, and asked how long people had been waiting. Everyone had been there at least two hours and one guy who remarked ("I really had things to do today") said his wait was already over three hours. As punishment for my comments, the ruthless receptionist informed me that her original estimate for my smog test was too low, and the price was increasing.I protested, informed my comrade fellow sheep that it was time to get an electric car, and left. I was called later, told the gas car had passed, and informed I should not be late picking it up after payment. Go somewhere else!`

Popped in with no appointment, the receptionist was exceptionallly friendly and efficient. She was also realistic about the time as there were 3 cars there already. Very pleased with the whole experience and my car passed.

Horrible experience ever with went April 24 around 4:30pm and my wife leave her purse by accident and they stole $90.00 cash we trust them, so we talk to them and they say or they are responsible for that I was just for 5 minuets working with the car and we got rape ,is not fear so just beware!! We trust them local businesses so nice!! NOT WAY !!Beware!!

Very fast and courteous.However I feel 70.00 dollars for a smog that take less then 15min is ridiculous.Offer coupons or at least a waiting room with some amenities for your guests.

Be aware that if you use their coupon discount price and fail, you do NOT get a free retest. I failed only because the monitors were not readfy; they do NOT check for that before beginning the test. If you don't know what that means, as I didn't, you should find out before using the coupon.
