Stayed here recently along with family for a golf trip and we couldn't have asked for a better experience! They are reasonably priced and within walking distance to Pacific Grove golf course. The rooms are a little small but I knew that going in and all I really need is a nice place to sleep and shower. What made this place even better was the nice little picnic area with two picnic tables that each had umbrellas for my family and I to hang out under. It was a cool gathering spot every morning and evening to meet up with everyone. Thank you Bide-a-wee! We will definitely be back

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. This place is quaint and cozy, and very close to the ocean. The cottages themselves are connected to each other, so keep that in mind; although, we rarely heard our neighbors. Parking is very limited, but we were always able to find a spot. When we arrived late on our first night, check-in was easy, but the cottage was freezing cold. All of the baseboard heaters were off. It would have been nice if they would have preheated the cottage for us as it took a very long time to get to a comfortable temperature. The cottage accommodations are basic, but acceptable. There is some wear and tear showing, so it's likely ready for refurbishment with fresh paint and new furniture. Despite the above constructive feedback, we enjoyed our stay in paradise, and would stay at this property again in the future.

We stayed for 2 nights to explore Big Sur. It was a great base. The hotel ground are lovely, the firepit for evenings was a nice touch. We had an upstairs room just off reception which was ok, seemed quite dated. It was a bit small and squishy but perfectly comfortable. The location is perfect though, its in a very quiet area, you can walk to the coast in 10 mins which is a lovely walk.

Booked a room, spoke to someone on the phone about my arrival time (prior to 8pm, which was 30 minutes from the time of booking my room). They were perfectly nice about it, was a courteous and routine interaction other than them saying if I Arrived later than 9, the office would be closed. 10 minutes later as I was driving there, they called and canceled. The person I had just spoken to claimed they made a mistake and actually had no rooms available, except for one "really tiny room with almost no space. Like, really really small." I had to pull off the highway in the dark and try to find another place to stay. And when I asked for an immediate reimbursement since I had already provided payment, they emailed and said "we canceled your reservation as you requested on the phone." Sounds like an employee wanted to leave early and not deal with explaining why to their boss. It was pretty rude and caused a lot of stress.

My son and I stayed here last weekend, for three nights. It was a rainy weekend, so we opted not to bring our dogs. The office kindly removed the pet fees from the invoice. We got a pet-friendly room with 2 queen beds, a kitchenette and bath, of course. Since we had a pet-friendly room, the couch and the bedding was covered in a sheet. There was plenty of open floor space, had we brought the dogs and their beds. The heat was provided by a gas fireplace, and it worked great. The room felt safe and cozy, the beds were comfortable, there were plenty of fluffy towels, and the flooring looked brand new. The TV worked great, and the guide was easy. We got local news & weather, and plenty of football. The office manager was friendly and polite. I love staying so close to the ocean - the beach is a block away. We spent the rainy Saturday and Sunday at the aquarium and had a nice place to land afterwards.

Nice little place, upstairs, shower worked well, butSmoke detector was going off, front desk cannot fix so they kept it. Table lamps needed to be plugged in to work & unplugged to turn off. Refrigerator worked great, bed was OK.No available breakfast at 6am or 7:30am.Holiday weekend pricingWhat are you going to do?

If you have pets this is the place to stay. It was very pet friendly. The rooms were spacious and updated. I loved having a kitchen in my room. I was able to cook a full breakfast for my family. Located a short distance from the ocean. Waking up to the sound of the ocean was perfect.

So as the review stars vary greatly, this review is for a king one bedroom with a sofa bed in the next room.First off, everything was very clean. The kitchenette was nice with all of the necessities. A small fridge with freezer, microwave, a small stovetop and storage. The bathroom is a bit small, but completely useable. Could have used a plug for the bathtub though. Small soaps and shampoo provided. Two doors in and out.Bedroom furniture was a bit dated but fully functional. Could use a small dresser in the room as there are only seven hangers in the closet next to the kitchenette. Bed and pillows were fine. Neither were lumpy or hurt my neck or back. There is a small TV in the bedroom. The sofa bed was a bit old and tired. My son wasn't as happy with it, but didn't complain either. This and the lack of clothes storage were my only minuses for the room. That being said, I saw them replacing an old sofa when we were there, so I'm assuming they are improving the rooms when they can. There is not a ton of parking, so if you are in multiple cars this might be an issue. The grounds are very nice. Lots of flowers and plants all around. lots of little seating areas and a fire pit by the office. The staff were all very nice and helpful for the most part. The area is very quiet and calm. There is a very small dog park if you need it as well.If I could get the same room again, I'd stay here again.

We reserved 3-days at the Bide-A-Wee. The room (#107) was a large, clean end unit. There was 1-nightstand, no dresser, a few hangers, small table w/2-chairs, a desk & office chair, fireplace, microwave, fridge, bar sink, coffee maker, toaster & a few kitchen cabinets. We thought we were going to have a GREAT stay, especially with all of these nice amenities. NOT!!!We stayed 1-night and left the next morning. YES! The bed was terrible!!! One side was completely broken down, the other side was marginal and the whole thing was so hard our shoulders, hips & backs hurt. The mattress is VERY old and cheap, There was no mattress topper to mediate this issue and the mattress pad was old, paper thin and put on inside out, no less. The pillows are very full and probably a bit too much for most people. Neither of us slept through the night and we were extremely miserableWe asked to be moved to another room, but they didn't have anything available so we left and drove home. Miserable stay. We DO NOT recommend this place or at least not room #107. The people on site can't do much to help you, so beware!

Very nice cottages in a cool and vreezy right next to the beach area. Walking distance to the beach. Rooms had a microwave and a toaster in addition to the usual fridge and TV. Very cute place and they're pet friendly. Lots of deer in the area. Would recommend. They could do a little better cleaning up the rooms. Maid left a glove and a hair was in the shower.

I absolutely LOVED this cute hotel. This is a pet friendly hotel and is one of the cleanest pet hotels I've here too. I loved the overall vibe of the cottage, it has a secret garden feeling to it. It's only a 4 minute drive to lover's point and you can see the water from the hotel. I will definitely be back, I highly recommend this pet friendly inn.

Great dog friendly hotel with rooms and cottages. Room was super small, but clean. I love the cottage option with bedroom, living room with a fireplace and kitchen, and large glass doors to the garden, where we saw deers one morning visiting us. And yes, dog friendly, I mentioned right? For now the breakfast is not available, so you can order it outside or cook yourself. The hotel has an enclosed territory with tables and grills. Very cozy, clean and close to the ocean. Ocean views from cottage rooms (through the trees).

We found the Bide-A-Wee a bit disappointing and a wee bit "wee" on ambiance, size, and furnishings. Keep in mind we checked in with a dog into a dog friendly room. The couch was an uncomfortable IKEA futon, the coffee table was an old end-table from the 70's, one small 3 shelf IKEA bookcase, a kitchen table that wasn't even 30", the bedroom had a queen that barely fit and two end tables that didn't really fit either, and no dressers. The pluses and minuses: 1) The room was clean! 2) the bed well made and comfortable! 3) The kitchenette was a joke - the mini fridge never got cold and the tinfoil on the stove was classically tragic. 4) The gas fireplace which is the only source of heat also a joke. We had to call the front desk each evening to get it working, and the 3rd night - gave up! 5) The walls are thin and when the room next to us showered, flushed, talked or had the TV on it was fairly loud or clear; this place is not well insulated. 6) Last but foremost, even though we kept the kitchenette clean, we were invaded by Ants. They started in the bathroom and marched into the kitchenette. The grounds, thanks to the drought are over run with cut down weeds, fox-feathers, burrs, and detritus. Their little mini dog-park is covered in the same that are dangerous to dogs.We found this place to be pricey for the overall quality. Recommendation........

We had a great stay. I have to say they were priced "reasonably" for a not many frills motel, esp as we were traveling with our two dogs. We got the one bedroom (queen) that had a living room, mini kitchen with small two seater dining table, and bathroom. The kitchen was stocked with the bare essentials ( had a two burner stove), bed was perfectly comfortable, unit was clean. The best part it was close to the beach. The down side was the futon was not comfortable. It was a cheap model you could purchase at BigLots. And a comfortable couch AND a chair would have been nice. But the property was nicely kept up.

We liked our stay here. Price is nice too. Our room had a kitchen area which was super. The room was clean and spacious but just needs updating. New carpet and bedspreads would ve made this room smell and look awesome. The most wonderful standout is the location! This is the #1 reason for us choosing Bide-A-Wee. Right there at Asilomar beach...a nice walk if you d want to get a little exercise in and take in the awesome clean air! We would definitely stay here again.

Bide-A-Wee gets two stars for its great location and allowing dogs. If not for this, I would rate it zero stars. When we walked in, the room was noteworthy for its relative lack of furniture. My daughter said it looked like it was telling us to leave. We reserved for three people - so the front desk knew how many would be staying - and yet there was no bedding for the sleeper sofa. We went to the front desk and they provided one sheet and one blanket. I guess in their world they don't use a bottom sheet and expect you to lie directly on top of the mattress - yuck. I asked for a second sheet and they gave us four pillow cases. Go figure. In the room itself, there was a closet but no chest of drawers, no coffee table, no comfortable place to sit except the sleeper sofa. There were two really uncomfortable chairs at the the small kitchen table. There was a crazy fake fireplace piece of furniture - that didn't work - on which sat a flat screen TV. Why not put the TV on a functional piece of furniture, like a chest of drawers, instead? The kitchen was functional - with a small sink, fridge, microwave, coffee making equipment, pots and pans etc. It was clean. Some pictures of the cottages show small patios - but I think the only cottages that have patios are the ones toward the front of the property. Overall it was very dreary. I would pay more for a better experience somewhere else. We will not be back.

So cute and comfy. No staff lol but who wants to see people during a pandemic. We enjoyed our stay. The fire pit was a plus. Full kitchen in such a small space was a plus. The rooms are very tiny though. Also, it was very clean. And the heater worked well as did the fireplace although the fireplace takes a while to warm the room. Still nice though.

My boyfriend and I booked a Queen Cottage and received room 108. It s was TERRIBLE. It s was tiny and had ants everywhere. We booked it thinking it was a cottage. It was NOT. We had people above us and could hear everything they were doing. The bathroom was so small both my boyfriend and I had to take turns getting ready. The bathroom door hit the toilet. Our stand in shower didn t have a bathtub, which is fine but I couldn t even stretch my arms out all the way. The curtain kept sticking to me. There was no ventilation in the whole room but not even the bathroom. While showering I had to keep sticking my head out of the curtain to breath. They advertise (even on their brochures) that they have vaulted ceilings. I m 5 5 and could touch the ceiling. There is no countertop space anywhere in the room besides the so called kitchenette. In the pictures the kitchenette shows a stove top and oven. We stayed a couple days and went grocery shopping to prepare our food and there was no oven. The kitchen table was so small we wouldn t have been able to sit and have a meal anyway. Because of the ants, we had to keep all of our food in the mini fridge. The bedroom had 1 night stand that the lamp and their phone were on, don t bother trying to call them, they won t answer. So no room to charge your phone or anything. Not that you can anyway the outlet is behind the bed, we tried to reach it but couldn t. We did however find trash under the bed. So that was nice. Other than that night stand, there was nothing to put your belongings on. We had to put our suitcases either on the bed when we weren t using it or on the floor. The bed had no headboard and the walls are white so you could see dirt where previous guests heads were at. Thank God I always bring disinfect wipes and wiped it down myself. The carpet was obviously ruined at some point because the replacement carpets didn t match so there was patches of different carpet, 3 different styles. The light fixtures were a joke. We talked to the front desk and voiced our concerns they stated every room was different and that unfortunately there was nothing they could do, as all the rooms were booked. They didn t offer a discount or anything at all. The only offer we got was that housekeeping could spray for the ants, which we had done already ourselves. For what we got, we WAY overpaid. I would never return here again. If I could attach pictures to this to help someone I would.

Rooms were clean, but the coffee wasn't stocked and the room configurations were not very well done in terms of the kitchen. My Mom's cabin had a functional wall fireplace for extra warmth that was needed since it was damp and rainy the whole time we stayed. The cabin I stayed in did not have a functional furnace and that really sucked. Plus I could clearly hear the intimate lovers action going on next door. Last but not least the pet fee charge is crazy excessive. It is rated on weight. I had to pay an extra 250 (50 a night). My dog did no damage, as she is well mannered and not a puppy. This made this place not affordable, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Plus they stated the location is right by the ocean but it is not, and the only way to get there is to walk 1/2 mile on a street with no sidewalk. Booo!

Had a great stay. Wasn t sure about the recent poor reviews, so only booked 1 night. However, I was pleasantly surprised and extended my stay.If you re expecting the Ritz, you ll be disappointed. For the proximity to the ocean, the price is fantastic.Stayed in 111A. It s small. Very small. So what? You didn t come to the peninsula for the room.Loved the quiet vibe of the place, but you can hear through your walls. Plan accordingly. All staff members were friendly and helpful, from keeping me in my original room when I extended to grabbing an orange for me the night before I was set to leave before the office opened. Also loved the (propane) fire pit/benches outside.

We stayed here before a few years ago and it was fine (4 stars, no-frills room in a good location), but this time we walked into a room that didn't match the description of what we reserved. When we said we weren t interested and would prefer to stay elsewhere, the manager refused to cancel, discount it or even speak to us (he was off site that day and responded to our request to cancel via the desk clerk). The clerk said he would call us the next day.We left, but we never got a call back, just a charge for the full two-day stay on our credit card 3 days later.Given the numerous positive reviews, I m sure this can t be typical, but it sure made our first Monterey visit in a while less pleasant than it should have been.If you want more background, we had called before we made a reservation to make sure that the room we were looking at had a fireplace, which is a must for a winter stay on the Monterey Peninsula. The person at the front desk assured us that it did so we made the reservation. When we got here, it had no fireplace. The manager either didn t believe us (he asked the name of the employee who told us, which of course I didn t bother to write down, because I didn t anticipate it coming to this) or just didn t care ("it's the day of the reservation", so it can t be cancelled regardless of what room you thought you were getting.)And to add insult, the room wasn t available for those two nights, so they likely rented it out anyway. (Double the earnings on the same room!)So now we re in the middle of a credit card dispute over the room. We re likely to get the money back, but only after a whole lot of lost time and stress.

Tiny room with a tiny bathroom, not at all like the photos I was shown on the website. No place to store... Anything. Just one small shelving unit. No extra blankets despite the fog and chill here. The only good thing about this place was the location. Wifi is decent.

Cottages look lovely from the outside, but the inside is very underwhelming. While clean, the furniture is extremely old and beyond worn. The stove is not efficient, and the fridge does not have a freezer. There is modern TV in the living room as well as one in each bedroom. The beds were clean and no bed bugs. The cottage is less then 10 minutes to the ocean walking, and there were many deer on the way. The free breakfast was cold cereal, Costco muffins, bagels and toast, apples and oranges, oatmeal packages, and coffee. Overall, it was a very average stay.

First off this was a gift to my wife for our 20th anniversary and what a nightmare it has been. I booked two nights and only stayed one night and am leaving and not staying the second night. Place is out dated, Toilet leaked in room and kept us up all night, bed was as hard as a rock, heater never heat the room efficiently and staff was the worst. The staff would not make any accommodation or any small reimbursement for the inconvenience. The people here are more concerned about the money rather than your happiness with your stay. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS PLACE. The mangers name is Alex and when the front desk person called him to let him know about the situation he could care less and told him I would be charged in full no matter what. I stay in Pacific Grove a-lot and there is no other hotel or cottage like this one where they don t care like this place. Highly disappointed and shame on the manager for not caring what so ever. I refuse to let others experience this type neglect. I would suggest the Asilomar, Andril Cottages or the Best Western The Inn if you want a much better experience.

I LOVE this place! The grounds are lovely, the room was cozy and the staff are wonderful! I could hear the ocean in my room, and could walk there in no time. When I go back, this will be the only place I'll stay at =)We just went and had another great visit. This time we stayed in the 2bdrm cottage, so I included some pictures of the it since I didn't see any on your website. Thanks for another great time =)
