This is a glorious place to spend a day skiing. It consistently rates as the best resort in Northern California. As a bonus you can also ski Alpine which is also a top resort and arguably more enjoyable given its smaller crowds and local feel. Both resorts are stunningly beautiful with an abundance of terrain to explore. Tips up!

I had a good time, and was quite impressed at the lack of lines/speed of lifts. Even on a Saturday, with the parking lot full, I barely experienced any waits on the alpine lifts. The intermediate terrain felt quite limited though. I basically just did the same run through the central valley of the mountain over and over again, which wasn t terribly fun with all the beginner traffic. The terrain was a 2-3 star at best, the 4 star rating is because of the amazing logistics. Gondola and lots of fast lifts made for positive overall experience. I wouldn t specifically make a trip to this place, but if I was in the region I d definitely come back.

Awesome resort offering a great variety of terrain from beginner to super advanced. The resort now connects to alpine meadow which offers way more option to ride. The other side of the mountain is accessible by the gondola and takes about 15min to connect. There are great views of Lake Tahoe as well

Palisades is an amazing resort with many tracks and the village is good as well with many options. The main advantage I see at palisades was to take group classes. In the other resorts (north star for instance) the group class has one teacher, even if 15 people join the class. At palisades, a teacher has at most 5 people per class. It s important to mention that this comes with a price difference since palisades is more expensive than the other one mentioned.

Palisades, a great mountain to ski! Variety of runs for beginner to expert level, packed into a small footprint. I visited during this past holiday weekend. Lines were extremely long snow was not great. I have been skiing here for years and look forward to returning with better snow

First time here, highly recommend. Absolutely gorgeous, came during the week so it wasn t very crowded, snowed on us the whole time so lots of fresh powder, awesome runs and trails. Will return. Friendly staff no matter where we went.

Nice place to ski in Tahoe. Plenty of terrain and plenty of choices depending on your level of skill.

Palisades is a world class ski resort for a reason. It's definitely not a mountain for beginners learning to ski, but there are a few green runs that would be fine for practice. We frequent Shirley Lake and Granite Chief, which has a great mix of advanced blues and challenging black runs. It can get crowded, so we make sure we're on time for first chair. Alpine Meadows is a hidden gem; less crowded than Palisades with gorgeous, wide open runs all over the mountain. The Base to Base gondola rarely has a line and is really convenient to be able to traverse both mountains. Chamois is a classic for aprs but definitely fills up after last chair, and Wildflour has great cookies for an end of day treat.

Took the giant tram up the mountain to the Gold coast cabin. The 110 person tram is huge and there are beautiful views. Once at top they have free roller skating and a restaurant and drinks. Beautiful meadows abound with tons of wild flowers. There are several hiking trails you can take from there. It is $44 per adult to go up. Season ski pass holders and Icon passholders (for next season) are free. Really worth the trip.

Still my favorite resort in the country...by far. Great staff throughout the resort. All very nice and helpful. The fastest Starbucks ever too!

Palisades Tahoe marketed their slopes as being open. But only about 10% of the runs were open. Yet, they're still charging $200/day for a lift ticket. I definitely didn't get my money's worth, despite driving for God knows how many hours to get here. All of the people working here were great. Just their businesses practices are less than stellar.

I went skiing this past Sunday and had a pretty mixed experience. There was fresh snow, which was awesome. The staff was nice, and ski patrol was doing a great job. That being said, there was 2+ hour line from I-80 all the way to the parking lot full of traffic. We had parking reservations, but I'm not sure what the point of those were as the lots were completely full without any apparent enforcement. The lift lines were commonly 30 minutes long. We left Petaluma at 5 am and didn't manage to ski our first run until 11AM. Most of the hold up was from the ramp off I-80 to the ski resort. Where's the investment in satellite parking lots and busses? That being said, the mountain is awesome. It does kind of suck to think I paid a thousand dollars for an Ikon pass only to be able to get 7 runs down the mountain in a day.

Palisades Tahoe is an exceptional resort, with the caveat that I would not recommend it for beginners. Trails are plentiful, and the Alpine Meadows area is still a bit of a quiet gem. With so much terrain, few lifts have much of a wait, even on busy weekends. Snow conditions are often great, but the wind and visibility can be rough. Amenities are great, with a cute village servicing all your needs and wants, with free parking for all! (Edit 2024: Parking situation has changed for weekends and holidays and now requires a reservation)Back to that small caveat: beginners stay away. Beginner trails are not too plentiful, and some intermediate runs have some steep sections. However, they tend to couple those steep sections with long traversing flats, which can be annoying for us snowboarders.

Incredible ski resort in the Lake Tahoe area. Great place for experienced skiers / snowboarders as most of the terrain is intermediate or more challenging. Also has a good ski school program for all levels. Surrounding amenities have everything you need to have a good experience, including lodging, equipment rentals, apparel, restaurants, and other activities year-round. Snow tends to be good for skiing Dec-May, though you can have good snow in Nov/Jun as well.Only consideration is cost - Palisades Tahoe is more expensive than some of the smaller resorts in the area, but similar in pricing to other large corporate-owned resorts.

When it's and clear, wonderful. When it's flat light, almost all the upper lifts are on wind hold or closed and 4,000 people per hour (holiday) are skiing from the Funitel gondola down the same wet packed snow tote path, it's awful .

Beautiful and vast.Easy access to several different peaks including Alpine Meadow via the base to base gondola.View from up top are unforgettable.Icon pass options make it easy and somewhat affordable if you re going for more than a day or two. There was a ton of snow when we were there and the ops team did an amazing job getting the lifts/slopes open and running.

Great resort, located at absolutely amazing spot between a few ski lifts and a tram. 100% worth it.

I don't ski here normally but had some free ski passes to try. During the weekdays, it's about $250 per ticket. We took the gondola to Alpine and skied on that side of the mountain. The winds picked up, and the gondola shut down. You have to take the shuttle bus back to the Palasades side.Skiing was great, and you practically have the whole place to yourself on a Thursday in late March! Friendly staff here and parking is easy!

Great terrain, great snow, and the resort is often open and accessible when others are not. The resort staff is friendly and their efforts to keep things going in all conditions is very visible and makes a considerable difference to the great benefit of all guests. The lift lines move quickly and there is plenty of parking that s orderly and organized which translates into more time on the slopes. With such a great spot a person would normally keep quiet and keep it to themselves but I think the word is already out. This is where you wanna be, especially if you want more challenging and fun terrain with consistent deep powder days.

World class resort.Everything you can want from an all inclusive ski resort. The crowds can be tough on holiday weekends, so make sure to prepare accordingly if you plan on visiting on peak days.As is expected from one of the most well known resorts on earth, Palisades is riddled with some absolutely incredible terrain. Not only that, but there is plenty for winter enthusiasts of all abilities to enjoy. From top to bottom groomers to death defying cliffs and chutes.Lastly, Palisades is currently the only Lake Tahoe resort on the Ikon Pass. There are always a million things you can say to praise and criticize major resorts. What matters most is that you come away with a positive experience and enjoy your time on the mountain.5 star mountain. Easily.

It's definitely a nice place to ski. They held the Olympics here in 1960; that's cool. But the day I went, they didn't open the magic carpet, which was kind of sad for beginners like me.

The Ikon pass should be 3x the current price if not more. Skied squaw my whole like and only seen this on Silverado let alone multiple times in 1 season. Seems like an off season forsure.. I am superstition about my skiing
