First off I really don t want to write up all these negatives because I have enjoyed so many trips here. It just got to be too many things and I found it necessary to share with others. First very disappointing issue was (after 41 years of being an owner )we were asked what special request we had and we requested room #129 -that was not honored. And by the way I went to the room #129 several times after we arrived no one was in there, next the door stuck we had to shove our shoulders into the door each time to open it, sink didn t drain in bathroom, no one answered phone at front desk in the morning hours, fold out couch had no directions, the worst of all was the pool and hot tub were closed, it was unacceptable to have two small hot tubs for the entire village , downright gross!!! and the awful awful pot holes all down the property ! The only person I felt who was nice in anyway was the maintenance man with the glasses.

Such a wonderful experience; excellent location, easy free shuttles to slopes and town. Loved the spaciousness of my room; bed was super comfy. Hotel could use an update but was an excellent value for the price! Would definitely recommend!Noteworthy details: A great stay!

I am an owner at OVI, and I will say it is awesome to have a week in Olympic Valley for 4 easy payments a year. I walked away after checking out with no charges on my card. The suites are very comfortable for 2-3 adults. The shuttle is awesome, as is the Mountaineer service throughout the valley. The maintenance is quick and responsive, and all the staff was positive and helpful. I will be back!

The rooms are great and I love how close you are to the mountain and the shuttle service was helpful. However, for the rates you charge, I was a bit disappointed that there was no breakfast served in the mornings (either complimentary or for sale). It was difficult to get to the village in the mornings to get my own food. I realize you are not a traditional hotel and have kitchens where people can make their own food, but the supermarkets in Tahoe City are far away for those of us who flew in and didn't have cars. Also, it was strange that only one of the hot tubs was working, I was told by other guests that they have been out of order since last year. Again, for the rates you charge, I didn't like sitting in a crowded hot tub. Finally, most other resorts I've stayed at will have hot chocolate, tea, cookies, and other snacks at the end of the day for guests when they return from the mountain. It's a nice touch that I think you should add.

Gem of a ski resort hotel in the Olympic Valley. It is walking distance from Palisades Tahoe Ski Resort (though they offer a shuttle if you prefer to ride with your skis / snowboard). The hotel was originally built as the lodging accommodations for the athletes competing in the 1960 Winter Olympics, and then converted to a hotel for the area. The hotel includes other amenities as well: hot tubs, pool, game room, reading room, common room with computer, high speed Wi-Fi, and a courtyard which is a fun place for sledding, building snowmen, and snowball fights in the winter. They also offer storage for skis / snowboards next to the shuttle stop for the resort shuttle. The hotel is a little dated, but in the process of being updated. It's priced accordingly, which makes it a great value and a better price point than other accommodations in the valley (Everline, The Village at Palisades Tahoe). Definitely a great place for families, couples, or groups of friends.Rooms: Rooms can comfortably accommodate a couple, and up to a family of four can use the space (I did so routinely as a child), though a larger room may be preferred by some (or two adjacent rooms). Each room comes with a queen bed, fold-out sofa, kitchenette, dining area, full bath, two TVs in different rooms, and a balcony facing the courtyard. Larger rooms also include a dining room table and two arm chairs, and in some cases a second balcony.

Everyone has been courteous and welcoming. Yoga with Paige was delightful. The birch hot tub was really warm one time which was awesome! Unfortunately the window was broken in the room.Nearby activities: Skiing was the objective and the facility is unique as the athletics rooms from the 1960 Olympics were converted to one bedroom condos. Palisades Tahoe snow was fabulous!

Lovely, quaint inn with a European feel to it. The rooms had everything we needed, the beds are amazingly comfortable, and the pool/hot tub area is beautiful. There are free activities throughout the week included in your stay such as yoga, wine tastings, and art/crafts. There are many stunning hiking trails around the area- one starting just behind the inn! Would absolutely stay here again.

New sofa is a big upgrade. Next big adjustment/improvement, loose the big, lazy chair in the bedroom so the Armoire can move an a King Size bed added.Rooms are clean, exterior repairs are noticeably improved. Hot tubs do need some work. Maybe only the spa at the pool in ground and the others become above ground for expense and maintenance easier (including eventual replacements)?Rooms: Efficient use of a small space. We are a family of 3 so perfect for the annual ski trip to SquawNearby activities: Skiing! Lake Tahoe reasonably close

The only positive attribute I can think of is the location. It was close to the village shops, restaurants and ski lifts. The furniture and appliances were very outdated. The advertisement on VRBO showed the picture of a fireplace -- we had no fireplace. The heaters worked but were very noisy. Noise from occupants above and below was excessive.

OVI is a great resort that even has a Kitchenette that is fully stocked for cooking simple meals. They have a fun game room, a gym, sauna, pool, and hot tubs.Rooms: We love the extra fold out bed for our kid and that we get our own private room to sleep in with balcony.

Great place to stay for a ski trip to Palisades Tahoe. Room was spacious, comfortable, and quiet. Pool and hot tub were very enjoyable and open for many hours each day. Parking was easy and the shuttle bus to the ski resort ran frequently and made getting to the resort easy and convenient. The staff were incredibly friendly and we really enjoyed the guided ski offered during the 3 days we were there and the wine tasting offered that night. The other guests we met at the these events were very friendly as well. Would definitely stay here again on a future trip to Palisades Tahoe.

We ve been owners at Olympic Village Inn for 35 years, and are impressed how well Grand Pacific & management are keeping pace with the hotel industry with recent upgrades, with several other projects planned. OVI has remained a unique & special resort property thru the years, retaining its European feel charm, and perfectly & conveniently located near The Village shops & restaurants, hiking up Shirley Canyon, next to the Palisades Tahoe ski lifts, and a short drive to Truckee & Lake Tahoe. OVI is def one of our main getaway destinations year round so grateful for the years we ve owned here, raising our kids & now enjoying this property in retirement & with our grandkids! Rooms: Love the cozy rooms with comfortable furniture, beds, queen size sofa couch, kichen, TVs in living room & bedroom, the two headed showers/baths, wood fireplace in some of the units We ve been owners for 35 years & appreciate Grand Pacific & OVI management keeping pace with the hotel industry with its primary goal of making OVI the unique & extraordinary resort property it has been since its beginning Nearby activities: Right out the door, we enjoy bike riding thru Olympic Valley & along the Truckee River to Tahoe City & Sunnyside Restaurant where we often have lunch with amazing views of Lake Tahoe. We also like to kayak & SUP on Lake Tahoe from Commons Beach. Great hiking right in back of OVI surrounded by granite rock, waterfalls & a rushing creek in early summer. Near the Pacific Coast Trail.Safety: This property feels so safe in the location it is. We raised our kids coming here starting in the 80 s, and now our grandkids who are the same age our kids were when we became owners. Safety is so important to us, and this is one of the safest locations I can think of. Wish OVI could stay this way forever without all the growth I hear is inevitable in the area in the future.Walkability: Often we ll park our car when we first arrive, and it stays parked b/c we can walk to The Village, to skiing at Palisades Tahoe, hike up Shirley Canyon, snowshoe right out the door, eat at restaurants with yummy food, walk to the local market for some groceries. We also love to ride our bikes or rent OVI s electric bikes to ride to Tahoe City & Sunnyside. Or we also enjoy staying on property & enjoy swimming, hot tubbing, working out in the fitness room, play ping pong in the Clubhouse & more!

The inn is outdated but the rooms are comfortable with everything we need to cook. BBQ pits are just outside and abundant. The seating areas outside are well spread out. We love the amenities including the pool area, hammocks on the grass, game room, exercise room, games outside. It is very family friendly. We did not get to rent the bikes but hopefully next time. The hiking trails off the parking lot is awesome and offers spectacular Mountain Views and the water access with mini waterfalls is breathtaking. The staff checked in every so often to ensure our stay was comfortable and that was very nice. We can t wait to come again every year.

The pool was not heated during our stay, and we were told the heater's been out for 2 weeks. Pool water temperature was in the low 60s , way below the temperature of the lake. Only two of the 5 hot tubs were fully operational. The setting is beautiful but not being able to use the pool when the daytime temps are in mid 80s really impacted our vacation in a negative way.

Very family friendly. Rooms are old and small but are still cute and charming. If you don't appreciate kids running around playing and taking over the pool, this might not be your spot. There are large board games, an activities/games room with a pool table, and hammocks hung throughout the picturesque property. There are great hiking trails and even a nearby rope corse. It is pretty far from Lake Tahoe activities off the property, so be prepared to do a bit of driving if your plans take you off property. There are lots of options for family fun. . . At night, there are horrifying amounts of giant moths. Stay in your rooms at night if you don't love giant dive bombing moths.

We appreciate that you assigned us three side by side ground floor rooms. This allowed us to conveniently have family gatherings for dinners and other get togethers. This has made our stay memorable and we thank you for this. You and your staff are to be commended for your services and welcoming gestures-the very best in our opinion. Thanks again for a very memorable and pleasant stay.Rooms: clean and comfortableNearby activities: beautiful trail and convenient facilities: restaurants and shops.Safety: Grounds are well maintainedWalkability: easy to navigate the premisses

Older property; converted 1960 Winter Olympics dormitory. While older , the property retains its 1960 s charm; the units are small and ski cabin-like which makes the accommodation cozy and nostalgic. All Staff are friendly and helpful!
