Customer service here is horrible. I booked an appointment for a tire appointment, but there is no space online to explain my problem. I called in asking for a time estimate, and he gave some rude answer like how can he know when he s not sure what the problem is. His responses were passive aggressive, and he was too impatient to stop and listen. He s obviously so miserable with his life. Chauvinist loser. I will avoid this branch forever.

Made an appointment online to have my front brakes replaced on Thursday 2/22/24. When I got there I mentioned that I already had my own specific parts and just needed the labor done. Then the service writer told me they no longer install customer supplied parts under the new manager. Unbelievable! I've been coming to this Pep Boys since 2008 and they've always done it. Started going to the Vista location when I moved in 2011 until it closed. Then went back to this one. The head service writer Rick always took care of me. I guess he's not there anymore and moved on. Looks like I will too. Their service has steadily declined over the years and always took forever to get things done, unless you had an appointment. The last two times I had work done here, replaced an air flow sensor and front brakes, I had to make an appointment. And it still took over 4 hours just to do the brakes and cost over $200 for the labor! I stopped getting my tires done here and had better luck, and service, at Discount Tire. Now I'll be getting everything else repaired somewhere else as well. Most likely at Midas. I called them since I had my rear brakes replaced there in May of 2023 and they said they'd do it and got my car in right away without an appointment. Best of all, it only took a solid hour and cost $180 out the door. That's the free market at work for you. Lastly, the remodel done at this Pep Boys sucks. They separated the service section from the store. Stupid!

Great job! Friendly knowledgeable csr. Fit me in as a walk in for a wheel alignment. Price was way lower that dealer and slightly lower than a nearby shop. I am highly satisfied.

A while back I took my vehicle in to change the fuel filter. It was a good job quick and friendly service. Fast forward to today where I call with some questions about something new I need done with my vehicle unfortunately I did not get the guys name on the phone but he was very rude and did not answer any of my questions. Word to the wise if any place refuses to answer questions that is just a huge red flag. Put being rude on top of that no thank you. I ll take my business elsewhere cause there are a lot of mechanics out there who are more than happy to answer your questions and not be rude to customers. Also, if a place refuses to answer questions and just keeps saying bring it in red flag as well.UPDATE: I reached out to the corporate office for pepboys and got a case no. This was a week ago and someone was supposed to reach out to me and of course never did. So just goes to show you they DO NOT CARE. Just look at all the other reviews the pattern is real with garbage service. Take your vehicle somewhere else there are plenty of nicer and BETTER mechanics out there. Obviously pepboys doesn t care about customers.

What a bad experience from an empolyee to a customer. Some guy named Marc very rude. Wanted a price on something he got upset if he knows everything. I remember doing an oil change here it took 3 hours with even an appointment. Wouldnt recommend my friends here.

My boyfriend brought his car here in an emergency break down off the 76 and the guy up front and the mechanics couldn t have been nicer or more helpful. Wish I had their names. Lowkey was nervous because I read the reviews on here but they couldn t have provided a nicer, more honest diagnosis. The problem with his car was real weird so they directed us to go to a different shop to get it fixed (again, very honest service. Would rather that then have someone messing/making it worse). Would come again if I lived by here.

Know your maintenance before you go in. Exceptional price on Cooper tires. Got to my car immediately. Service was performed promptly. Provided pictures at inspection. Those are all good things.Bad. They upsell. Most chains do this as do dealers so if you don't have your own mechanic, this is expected. The bad thing is, they are not fully honest about what is found at inspection. In my case, they said the brakes had low pads when the picture seemed to show that was not the case. Brake pads should be changed at about 3mm thickness minimum. " low pads" are defined at 1/4" or about 7mm. At this point, the shop should tell you " you will need brakes soon". I was told the pads needed to be changed. I even told the service rep I don't think they need to be changed while I see the indicator groove. He said that wasn't true on some pads. I let them change them.I measured the pads when I got home. They were above 8mm. Plenty of life left. The indicator groove stopped at 3mm just as it should. That folks is lying.

Around 215pm 10/21/2023 I called this Pep Boys on plaza in Oceanside,CA. a older man answered the phone phone and was extremely rude! I explained to the man (if you can call him that!) that I had some major break work done when I was in AZ Visiting my grandkids and that now my abs lights is on and my breaks are acting up/ not working well. It (he) told me that it was very expensive to run the test and that it costs over $100 and that I needed to take it back to where the work was done. I told him it was done in AZ and they told me that the work is warranty at any Pep Boys. He told me how doI know that it wasn't already damaged. I asked him are you saying I'm lying. He told me I could be because that is a lot of money to have it fixed. I told him, you can call the service place and speak with them and they could tell you that on their inspection I had no abs issues.He said in a loud voice take it back to where you had the work done and hung up the phone!I hope no one ever go to this place to get their car worked on!!!!

Work was done on my brekes and the result was excellent. They were professional and prompt when they gave me updates on the maintenance progress. They even offer military discount! Overall im very happy with their service and results for my brake service.

Unprofessional and Offensive Conduct from Pep Boys Tri-City Oceanside ManagerI am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the recent behavior of the auto service manager at Pep Boys Tri-City Oceanside, particularly as a long-standing customer of the establishment. Having been a loyal patron for an extended period, I have never encountered any issues under the management of the previous manager, Richard K.However, my recent experience was disheartening and completely different. The current manager exhibited shockingly unprofessional behavior, including the use of profane language and a general lack of courtesy. As someone who values respectful and courteous service, this encounter left me deeply dissatisfied.What further adds to my disappointment is the lack of response from Pep Boys corporate headquarters after I left a message detailing my experience. I reached out in the hopes of having my concerns addressed and to express the importance of maintaining the standards that have made this establishment reputable in the past.Moreover, I want to highlight the specific reason for my initial inquiry, which was questioning the exorbitant price quote of over $120 for the replacement of three windshield wipers. Comparable wipers are readily available for about $10 each at Costco or on Amazon. My intention was merely to seek clarification on the pricing, and the manager's response was both offensive and unprofessional, telling me to "Go F*** Yourself."Given my history as a satisfied customer, it is disheartening to see such a decline in the level of professionalism at Pep Boys Tri-City Oceanside. In light of this experience, I strongly advise fellow customers to stay away from this establishment that is clearly intent on ripping off its customers and mistreating them. It is crucial for consumers to be aware of the concerning practices exhibited by the current management. Great fast service! The personnel were helpful, kind and explained in detail their process! They notified me throughout the entire time what was happening and when my car was ready. Aurillo was very kind and efficient! Jesus did a wonderful job and how could he not with a name like that, JESUS! Thanks for giving me a positive experience and I thank you!

They had all the things I needed.They are Covid compliant, face masks, and social distances rules are in place. The shelves were well stocked, and the only cashier was very helpful and friendly.Pro tip... They offer a military discount! Good day at Pep Boys!

The place is a RIP off, STAY AWAY!! They will try to rob you with every scam possible. I went to get my broken car keys removed from the ignition lock and they tried to scam me by saying that it needs to be replaced completely and rekeyed in spite of me having spare keys!! When I declined their service, they charged me 170$ for diagnostics without even letting me know their charges or even having the courtesy of asking me if I wanted to proceed or not.Additionally, Mark threatened me by saying that if I don t pay for diagnostics, then he would keep my car.A locksmith was able to get it done in less than 200$

Mark, the manager at Pep Boys on Plaza Dr. is fantastic. I was kept up to date the whole time my car was in for service. Everything was done quicker than promised and cheaper than other quotes I had received from other places. My service technician, Robert, did a great job!

I went here to just get my headlight bulb replaced, and I ended up waiting for 2 and a half hours because they HAD to put someone ahead of me despite having an appointment. The cashier was apologetic, but then again, she did say to me, "You should be glad you don't have HIV" Do something about it.

I was originally told my service would take 2 hours, after 3 hours I was old it was almost done, they didn't finish until 2 hours later. Also, I had coolant drained and filled, but they didn't let me know I had a radiator leak.

I had a great experience with Pep Boys. Took my truck in for an oil change. The facility was clean and well-kept. Associates were extremely friendly. The service was done very quickly and they texted me when it was ready (I went shopping nearby while I waited.). I found everything in great order. I m especially happy, I had them comparison shopping online and found them to be the lowest cost, and I got great service! I really enjoyed the people.

Great people and great service! Aurelio and Dominic are gems! They took me as a walk-in without flinching and took care of a very stubborn antenna replacement beautifully. They are consistently great because I have had them handle my service on more than one occasion. I will return because of it!!!Thanks guys!!

The manager , Mark, was so condescending and rude when I tried to drop off the oil on this location. I told him I was used to be treated better at other pep boys locations. He started to kick out my stuff.

I recently made a bad choice to allow Pep Boys to diagnose a problem with my vehicle. My initial visit was for an oil change at the Oceanside, CA Plaza Dr. store, I had a service engine light on and one of the techs said he could take care of it. I ended up making multiple trips to the store for the same problem and they never corrected the problem. So, basically I paid $550.00 for an oil change...I will say that I had a good experience with the manager he tried to make it right, but my opinion of Pep Boys now, is that some of the tech s at that location are not qualified for anything more than basic services such as, oil changes, tires, brakes, etc...

from my experience it is the worst place you can go, from my experience I can say that I will never return to this location, the customer service is very unpleasant.,for not changing a battery that had a guarantee they made me lose a day of work They made me call AAA, they made me stay stranded, they made me call my mechanic, they made me spend time,money and gasoline .. it is the worst experience you can have for such a simple situation for what I pay when I buy it .. the guarantee is useless ..

Mark at the front was very helpful and the service was excellent. I got an oil change, new brake fluid, and a completely new brake package and it only took a few hours. My car drives much more smooth and the brakes are smooth. Would recommend

The disaster started in early July when I took my Scion in because of engine trouble. They replaced two ignition coils and I bought four new tires. I was back the next day with the same engine trouble. Turns out they replaced the wrong ignition coils. So, they proceeded to replace the correct ones. I thought I was a happy camper until my engine quit on me on the 78 freeway the very next day. Took the Scion back to Pep Boys ASAP. Mark, the manager, said I needed a new engine and that it would take about 3 weeks.They kept my car for three months with little to no communication. I would call every week for a status report. However, they use caller id and would not answer. So, I would call with an unidentified number and then they would answer. There was excuse after excuse. Apparently, they kept ordering the wrong engine. I couldn't take my car elsewhere because there was no engine in it.When I finally got my car back three months later they told me there was trouble with the A/C unit and that I should drive the car for a few weeks to see if anything else was wrong with it. I immediately told Mark the A/C unit was working perfectly when I took the car into them. No response. They just wanted me to come in right away, pay them, and drive the car away. Drove the car and noticed it had less power and the issue with the A/C unit was actually the climate control dial. It was stuck and you could not turn it. Mark said they would fix it. We took the car in and they kept it for a month. Again, no communication and they never even tried to fix it. They said they needed a part but couldn't find it but would continue to do so. Five months later (in April) I asked them for the part name. Found it within 5 minutes and had it sent to them. This time they kept the car for a little over a week. Told me it would be done within two days. Apparently, they never did anything and Mark admitted they didn't feel comfortable working on it and would look for someone at another Pep Boys shop, I picked up the car and two weeks later have heard nothing from Mark. Not a surprise.Such a disappointing experience. This was our go to place on all our vehicles for the last 20 years. They always went above and beyond until Mark came into the picture. Save yourself time, patience, and money. Take your car elsewhere!

I got tires and an oil change here. TPS sensor light stayed on after I drove off and oil change price was a bit high. Posted a review here. Mark from PepBoy called me to make it right. Went above and beyond. Great customer service. Will be going back for my tires and service going forward. Thank you for the great experience.
