Yao s is the gold standard for how a business should operate.When my catalytic converter was stolen, my neighbor recommended this shop. They took my car right away and I picked it up just a few days later. The prices are fair. The shop is clean. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable.Not only did they replace my converter quickly, but when my check engine light came on the next day, they offered to check it out right away (it ended up just being the sensor).It s clear they stand by their work and take pride in providing great service. I wish they did regular maintenance. If I could, this would be the only place I d bring my car.

Yang Auto is located in a pretty risky area of Oakland. I asked the person about going for a walk in their neighborhood and he discouraged me from doing it.I took my partner s car in to have a cable welded on to make it more difficult to steal the catalytic converter from his 2010 Prius. Stealing catalytic converters is big business these days with the precious metals now worth way more than gold. Thieves are stealing catalytic converter s here in Oakland, and all over the US. We have been reading about the quick removal of catalytic converter s all over Oakland usually in the middle of the night. Sometimes they even remove them in a parking lot in the middle of the day. And it happens very quickly. Next thing you know your car doesn t have a catalytic converter. It s better to protect your catalytic converter, instead of having to replace it which can be $3000 or so.Sandman s shop installs range from $250-$800 to protect your catalyst converter. We were able to get steel cables welded on to the our Prius for $180. It s the best price we ve seen. The hope is that if someone goes to steal the catalytic converter, they will see that it s not worth their while and they will move onto the next car.So, we went to Yang Auto Repair because they have the best price that we ve seen to protect a catalytic converter.

Came to get a suspension job toyota prius 2015 and BAISHEN, in collaboration with his father YAO who owns and operate a EXHAUST SYSTEM SHOP, a block away from each other,THEY HAVE REMOVED MY GOOD WORKING CATALYTIC CONVERTER , AND INSTALLED A DAMAGE ONE.Leaving me with thousands of dollars in damages.Please don t come here:Police report has been filled.If you are another of his victims please contact us.

I don t leave many reviews BUT I had to in this situation. I m working on an old car and needed ALOT of custom exhaust work to accommodate with new transmission and crossmember. Not only did they accommodate but I was able to do it as a walk-in and at a great price!!! Very good work as well!!! Thank you for helping me out! The New Owners are great!!!! I must add other muffler shops in the area turned the job down as it was a lot of work but not this family owned business, THEY DID AMAZING !!!

I BROUGHT MY OWN HIGH PERFORMANCE MUFFLER IN & THEY CHARGED ME $120.00 TO WELD IT ALL UP..EXCELLENT WORK AND VERY NICE PEOPLE I WOULD DEFINITELY GO THERE AGAIN IF I NEED ANYTHING ELSE FIXED IN THE NEAR FUTURE

Very helpful, both times I've visited. The work they did was solid and professional. I have an old truck, and they replaced missing brackets and clamps. New muffler is a better fit and is nice and quiet. My new tailpipe is of good heavy-gauge steel.It's so refreshing to find a skilled pro with old-school commitment to quality workmanship.

Janet was a great communicator. The work done was excellent I had them attach exhaust that was cut. They also do catalytic converter protection services. Quick and efficient, will come back in future. Very cute Doberman dog named Jameson.

I am so happy I went to Yao! A thief stole my catalytic converters shortly before I planned to go on a big road trip. Janice behind the desk did amazing work dealing with my insurance and making sure the estimate was accurate. She also helped ensure that the repairs got done on a quick timeline so I was able to go on my trip.The technicians were wonderful too. They had to do a lot of custom fabricating because drop-in parts were on back order. These guys are incredible welders and they created a custom pipe/converter assembly that works great and will last a long time. They also added anti-theft protection with beefy rebar and steel cable that hopefully deter the next would-be thief.I could not be a happier customer and highly recommend Yao Auto Repair to anyone who needs exhaust work.Service: Exhaust

Yao auto repair has very friendly and knowledgeable service personnel who helped me with filling my claim. They had a catalytic converter and did my repair work immediately after the claim was approved. Very nice people to work with and did a great job.

I visited Yao Auto today for cables protecting my catalytic converter on a Prius. Service was $250 and I was done in less than 30 minutes! The technician showed me how the cable was welded to cover the place where thieves place a saw, plus multiple other points securing the converter to the undercarriage. Highly recommend having this done before your cat is stolen - I wish I hadn t had to pay that $3k at the dealer to get mine replaced before doing this.

This garage was recommended to me when I recently got my converter replaced ( post- theft at a BART parking lot). Family owned, honest and fair. One of the very few garages in the East Bay that performs cable placement around converter for anti-theft deterrence.Recommend making appointments. I was very satisfied with their service and recommend this garage.

No one else would take the mufflers off my infinity for some reason. So I came to them and gave me an excellent price. To explained what I wanted and I m 100% satisfied with the work done. They are very knowledgeable and took the time to explain what they were going to do. If you need something done go here you won t regret it. I ll be recommending all my friends here. Fast profesional and reliable.

Our 2016 Toyota Corolla CAT was stolen, and unfortunately our model's part is nowhere to be found. Yao's went above and beyond to find one for us and got the work completed quickly. They also have a better solution than the plate or cage to keep the converter protected. I couldn't be more grateful to find a reliable and honest mechanic. Honest, fast, pragmatic. These guys are really really good. Fixed a hole in the exhaust of an old mercedes, charged me $50 for parts and labor.Also replaced the catalytic converters on a truck that was stolen and recovered (very expensive but fair given what they cost). I can't recommend them enough. I think it's a father/son operation, but don't want to assume too much. Needless to say I am very happy with the work they do and their overall helpful attitude. Businesses like this make you feel good about your neighbors, your community, and give a little hope in a world that sometimes feels like it's been turned upside down.Service: Exhaust

I dont think quality, expertise and expedited work can get any better than here. I had an exhaust leak on my mustang, came in, told Mr.Yang what was going on, he got it up in the air, and found the exact problem in less than 10 seconds. Took about 2 minutes explaining to me what and where the issues were, and 5 minutes later, he had it repaired and back on the road. And they are incredibly fair with the prices. I doubt you'll find better than this place. They are amazing.

One of the best places to get replacement catalytic converter that meets CA standard. It's even better if you speak Cantonese. Very prompt and fast service. Approximately 30 minutes wait time from when actually pulling your car into the garage. Street parking if you have to wait and challenging to find a spot. Highly recommend!

Went in for a high flow muffler upgrade on my 19 (new body style) Silverado. The gave me a Super 10 which is substantially smaller and produces a very nice sound. Definitely not over the top though, which is exactly what I was looking for. In and out in roughly 15 minutes. Fairly priced and extremely friendly.

This place is amazing!. Literally was in and out in less than an hour!. Had to some pipes and exhaust tips to get put on my vette. Thought this was going to be a hassle and took me while to finally wake up early and get it done. I gotta say I should of came here earlier instead of waiting for so long. Would definitely recommend this place to others that need any exhaust work done on their cars ...must say this place is one of those hidden gems

I've come here twice for welding work on various points of my muffler pipe (as my car is from the east coast so there's a lot of rust damage) and every single time they do an amazing job and they keep it very affordable. I usually call first to inquire about the line, but if theres no line, they've had my car fixed both times in less that 30 minutes. My go to place.

I came from another shop that didn't fix my problem. Came to Yang and told them about it. They informed me of what was missing, walked me through it, gave me updates (I needed more than one repair), and each time they were way faster than I expected. These guys are really good and affordable!!
