So happy I found an honest place to go for all my car repairs. My car was stalling at red lights and I couldn't trust driving it anymore. MJ auto was able to get me in next day which was sooner than anyone else nearby. I thought it was a problem I researched online and asked them to check for me. They did, but Mario found out exactly what it was and explained to me that I had a bad sensor. They sent me a really fair quote and let me know my alternator could use replacement too but it's not necessary. I respected that. Now I'm driving stress free. Thanks MJ Auto!

came here for first time after a recent accident. Staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, especially in dealing with insurance. 10/10 service, will definitely be coming back next time I m in need of a service, repair or really anything car-related.

MJ Automotive fixed my Mini quickly, affordably and they were easy to work with. They answered the phone when I called and discussed the issue I was having with me. I brought it in the next day and they got me an estimate a few hours later. After I approved the work they proceeded with the fix and had my car ready later the same day. Afterwards they showed me the worn parts and explained what had gone wrong. Overall they made the unpleasantness of car repair less painful.Service: General repairs & maintenance

DEFINITELY go to MJ Automotive, this was the BEST experience I've ever had at an auto shop!! I called them because I had a running light out on my Fiat, and most of the shops near me said they wouldn't work on Italian cars. The person who answered the phone was kind, knowledgeable, and double-checked to make sure they had the parts in stock before letting me know that I could drop the car off that day.When I went to drop the car off during my lunch hour, I was greeted by Juan, who was kind and fast in his assessment of what was wrong. I expected to drop my car off and pick it up in a few hours, but Juan actually started working on my vehicle right then and there, and had the light replaced within 10 minutes!He also completed a check of my vehicle and found some other bulbs that were out, which I hadn't noticed. I was SUPER embarrassed that my car needed extra work but Juan was cheery throughout and just grabbed the other bulbs my car needed. All in all, Juan replaced six bulbs in under 20 minutes. I am astounded by his level of service. I was able to get back to the office before my lunch hour was over, with time to spare.As my Fiat gets older, I've had to go into a number of shops to have issues addressed. This shop gave me by FAR the best experience I've had. I couldn't believe how fast and kind they were. Additionally, their lot was clean and well-maintained and I noticed a wide variety of cars there for maintenance. They're clearly very knowledgeable about their work.I wholeheartedly recommend you go here, ESPECIALLY if you don't know much about cars or if you're someone who usually gets taken advantage of by your mechanic. These guys will help you out. Just call ahead like I did so they can make sure they have all the parts they need in stock, although judging by my situation they seem to have a huge inventory!Service: General repairs & maintenance

If you have ANY issues with your vehicle do yourself a favor and come here.I haven t had any issues with my car so when the engine light turned on I was a bit scared. I called MJ and they said I could come in and they would take a look. I got a call same day and the mechanic said there was nothing wrong, the battery was just loose and he would show me the report he ran. He showed me a huuge list of issues that were just due to the battery being loose. He screwed it on tight and sent me off free of charge. These guys have gained a new customer for life. I feel so relieved that I can trust them with my car and know I will not be taken advantage of. Coming back for all my needs here:)!

I have to post one last review before I move across the country. I drove into Juan and Mario s lot four years ago and have been driving in for tune ups, oil changes, smog checks, bip repair, and advice ever since. The times I didn t have a car, I would walk or bike by just to say hello.The crew here embodies excellent service not only to the vehicles, but also to the people behind the wheel.Lately, there seems to be fewer and fewer businesses in town that offer anything beyond the cold, transactional nature of so-called professionalism. At MJ Automotive, I ve always felt like a human being and community member interacting with other human beings and community members. I have met sweet people in the lot who are also always greeted with the same good-natured warmth I am met with.I am sad to go and will come back to visit again.In preparation to leave, I handed off my car to my friend with the only stipulation being that they take the car to MJ Auto, forever til it ends.Excellent work, excellent service, and excellent prices. I am so happy to know this place exists.To many more years!

I have been taking my car to Juan's shop for a year now, and have no intentions to take my car elsewhere. Every time I've come in (even when I don't call ahead) with a problem, Juan and others at the shop have made time to check out my car, explain the situation, the solution, and my options. The service is not only incredibly professional, but also timely and generously priced.I recommend Juan and his team to everyone I know--this is the shop I tell loved ones to go to. If you want a familial, neighborhood joint with fair prices and great people, this is the place you should go!

I am still astonished at how well Mario and the guys work. They are by far the BEST mechanics in Oakland. I have been there a few times now for oil changes and getting a new starter after mine stopped working. Mario and Juan helped me and I am entirely grateful for their service. Recently, my transmission was completely bad and I knew from the looks of my tow truck driver it was going to be a pretty penny to get the work done. I had the car towed to Mario and his majestic hands; knowing whatever priced he charged was worth it for the quality of his and his crew's work. I am currently driving my car and is well pleased! I thank God for MJ Automotive

I am blown away by the service at MJ Automotive Repair and Electric. These guys really know their stuff, they take the time to educate you on what exactly is going on with your car. My car (mini cooper) needed a lot of work done to it after I bought it used about a year ago. Great spot. Mario is very clear and communicative, very fast and competent, and always charges about half of what you'd pay for the same thing at a dealership. I never feel like I'm being manipulated or sold on things I don't need -- everything is straight forward. I have been using MJ auto for a good 6 years now. I was referred by a friend who has been using them for 10+ years. This shop is hands down the best mechanic service I have received. They are honest, dependable, and the price is always right. I m impressed with these guys. They looked at my car the second I pulled into the lot having called just this morning. Mario discovered the problem with my headlight (a bad connector) within 5 minutes and assured me I didn t need to replace the entire unit (which another mechanic told me was necessary). I brought them the part and they put in it on the spot with me standing there. They didn t even charge me. Normally taking my car to the mechanic is such a pain, but these guys honestly made my day. I m so thankful to have found a good, honest shop!

My experience was excellent! Juan took time to squeeze me in on a busy day. He went the extra mile for me and got my car in and out quickly. This was the only shop that would even entertain the thought of looking at my older ('94) car.

Mario and Juan are the best! I have brought multiple vehicles here for different things and they always take care of me. Honest, transparent, and friendly. You'd be hard pressed to find a better shop in Oakland.

I found MJ Automotive last year while driving around East Oakland looking for a mechanic that could help me with some little repairs (12V outlet, tail-light, etc). Mario and Juan are great guys; no drama, no unnecessary diagnostic pitches, just solid work in quick time for a reasonable price. You know that feeling of finding a mechanic you can really trust your car with? Definitely felt it at MJ's. Went back a couple of times this month, and received the same great service for my Prius C. Thanks guys.

This place is great. They helped a lot with a couple things for the company I work for. From tire changes, to repairs, it is better priced than other places we have gone for our buses. They do good work too.

The nicest and most accomodating mechanics I have ever met! And I've been to A LOT! I have a 1994 Nissan Sentra and in the past 6 months, it has needed a lot of work. This morning, my car broke down on the freeway and I got it towed to MJ's because I saw that they were the electronics experts according to google. I show up, they move a truck out of the way so I can leave my car there, they told me they might be able to look at my car earlier than expected and the co-owner of the company, Juan even drove me home! It is challenging being a women (who is often hyper flamboyantly and femininely dressed) and getting taken seriously at these mechanic shops, but MJ's is filled with good hearted people who love working on the electrical issues of cars. They saw me as a valuable customer and not some woman in a fancy dress who knows nothing about her own car. Thank you so much Juan, and thank you MJ Automotive Repair! Today started off hard, but your kindness and confidence in fixing my beloved vechile are greatly appreciated. Thank you for the help!
