Highly recommend this place! Very professional, great service, reasonable prices and quick. I called, took my car in the same day, Don (owner for 20 years, lots of experience) identified the issue, educated me on the issue and resolved it within hours. A job well done!

Don is the only mechanic in the Bay area I'll go to! Honesty is an actual attribute here!!! He'll let you know what you need and what you don't. Wow right!?Can't thank him enough for everything! Keep up the good work !

I've brought my own parts for repairs on 3 occasions. Opens early during the week and on Saturdays. Labor cost is higher than average.

Came here after wasting my time at Shell on Grand Ave and Don fixed my car and gave me an oil change in no time! Also gave me pointers on the super simple job I came in for so that the next time (hopefully there isn t one) I can do it myself and save money. He was friendly and funny and gave me a stool to sit on in the sun while I got my service done! 10/10 recommend!

Great little mechanic shop. I have taken my car here and to the Toyata repair place down the street. The Toyota shop has consistently tried to pressure me into repairs I didn't need. I realized after a time that I think they run on commissions. Express Auto Clinic has been the opposite. They are honest, quick, and their work is quality. They are also much more economical than Toyota. Honestly even if they were the same price I would go here just because I feel I am treated with much more respect and honesty. Thank you!!! I ve been to this place and have had both my cars smogged many times. Today I went in to see if the head guy ( manager/owner) would be able to look at my car due to the battery being drained and car dying every two weeks. As I approached the manager/owner he had this look as if he didn t want me to even speak to him. I began to tell him the problem with my car and he said What do you want me to do, I m not going to look at it. Come back when your car dies again. As he was saying that he also gave me the hand motion and said leave! I have never been nothing but polite to him and his I m assuming wife/staff when getting service there and have always treated them with RESPECT. After today s event I will never spend a penny with them again and would highly recommend anyone going to them to not waste your money or your time.

Don is great, he got me in and out quickly with a cover on my catalytic converter for my Prius! Really great price, too! Highly recommend

I have been going here for years. Don always repairs my car quickly and expertly. He also informs me if anything else is wrong with my car that needs repair. And prices are decent. I have tried other mechanics now and then but have always been disappointed with prices or lack of honesty or trying to sell me stuff I dont need or letting my car sit for a week before repairing. I trust Don and his wife Ivy to be honest and to provide efficient and excellent repair service.

I was referred to Don by a colleague in April of 2018. I needed head gaskets replaced, and Don's quote was literally $900 below the next lowest bid. He did great work very quickly, and I've never had any issues with my gaskets or motor since. It's now almost 18 months later and still no issues. I highly recommend anyone to Express Auto Clinic.

Been coming to Don and his wife since I moved into the area a few years back. I just moved into SF and I still came out of my way to get work on done on my care because I respect his attention to detail and quality of work. He's done work on my previous Prius and now my VW Golf and the work has been stellar. I would highly recommend.

Came here for a smog check w/ a smallish RV (23'). Got a quote of $120 for the smog check, once we started. I was very surprised! He (I wish I had his name) told me he charges at least $100 even for normal cars, trying to normalize the prize to me. I almost drove away, and probably should have, but would have needed to start looking again and needed that smog check done that day. He knew it, and made me pay dearly. As I was paying the bill, I saw their smog test listed fares; they ranged between $49 and $75 for various types of vehicles. Final bill came to $100; I'm assuming my extreme unhappiness with his quote was so evident that he felt, at least, a little guilty.Interestingly enough, what bothers me the most, is not the money, but how they conduct business. They thought they could simply charge more because of the specific situation, and they did. To me that is not how you conduct business or treat customers. There are many great businesses all over Oakland that do great work, charge a fair rate, and treat their customers like valued customers, like neighbors, and part of the community they are serving. Unfortunately, Express Auto Clinic, is not one of them. I will not be frequenting them any more, for anything, and hope you do the same!

A simple oil change almost ended up in disaster! they put more than one quart of excess oil in my car and even send me to buy more! Good thing I noticed right on the next day but it took me 2 extra hours work to siphon the excess oil out through the oil measuring tube. this kind of thing can cause serious damage to my almost new engine. And I am amazed that as a mechanic he would not read first the specs of how much oil the car should get. During the oil change he also got somehow the warning light on indicating low oil volume (which has never popped up before) and just kept poring more oil to eliminate this which did not help until he zeroed the error off from the ECU but by then he he had put so much excess oil. The other thing also is he made my car all over dirty on the inside with his clothes and with touching the white interior directly with his oily hands and his wife had to wipe it with alcohol long time until cleaned. furthermore he does not use the standard practice of mechanic to put nylon in the seat but just sits directly with his dirty pants in the car. He also could have at least refunded me the $40 oil change fee (I brought my own synthetic oil) since he really messed that one up, but he did not refund it. Overall I paid about $120 for oil change with my own oil and for inspection of a bunch of items that I asked for. Giving one star extra that he is not expensive and that He did find out that one bolt on the wheel was missing, but with all the trouble and damage that this service could have caused, I don't think I will go again to him.

Best auto shop ever! They did quick and great service for me. This shop is located attached to a Valero gas station. It s tiny but they do great work. I feel the owner was very honest, and they just exceeded my expectations. I did lots of research and called over 10 auto shops all of them demanded me to come in and pay $$ for consultations and this place told me they can take care of it and did the job in less than an hour. Other shops quoted me 6+ hours of labor. Again this place literally worked magic to fix my vehicle!! USE THEM!!

These people are wonderful! they have always treated me well and been completely responsive to my wants and needs. They do quick work and give excellent service. They like it if you make an appointment but have always been able to help me when I just drop in. They used to be open seven days a week, which was great for those Sunday breakdowns -- but they've finally been able to take off one day a week (which they richly deserve), and are closed on Sundays.

Don, the owner and the mechanic, and Ivy, his beautiful wife and the shop manager, are amazingly nice people who saved my day. Maybe a year even. I bought a car battery from O'Reilley but didn't know how to install it. The clerk recommended me to go to Express Auto. Don knew I was trying to save money by bringing my own battery, and he offered me a discounted service. Cool man.Then he found out O'Reilley gave me a wrong battery (what??!). I was stuck with a dead battery and a wrong battery. Don immediately dropped me off back to O'Reilley to get it exchanged, and his wife picked me up to bring me back to the shop. They could have just told me I need to deal it with myself, and I would have understood. Intead, they offered such kindness whilst being so busy. Don pumped air in my tire and even told me which one had a problem. The whole time he was kindly telling a car idiot like me how to take care of my car better like my own uncle.He still charged me the same amount he promised in the beginning after all that trouble. If I weren't broke, I would have insisted paying more. I have had so much issues with this darn car and have been to numerous auto shops. You can trust me when I say I found an awesome place. I will go back to this happy family owned place.

I took my new battery there to be charged. When I returned the owner Don put a battery on my back car seat. I got out and looked at the battery and said " that my battery." The return was DIRTY WITH RUST ON IT.Don said "see this is your battery a Kragen battery". I then said i didn't buy my battery at Kragen.Once before, he put an OLD part on my car, causing me to have the same problem Check your parts after services from this place. Better, yet DON'T GO HERE! Also his wife has a bad attitude.

I highly recommend this place. I brought my van for a fuel pump change long story short reasonable and super fast service. I was out of there under a hour. Best mechanic place

Dishonest! Had oil change done four hours later my car over heated because there was no oil in my car. Don does not deserve a 1 star..
