Hands down one of the best places we've been to. Everyone that works there is super nice, helpful, and patient. The prices are great along with wait time whether your are getting a smog or work done which I've gotten both!! I'm glad I found my car place to go to. :)

Fantastic. I got stuck in Oakdale - car wouldn't start - and they replaced my starter the same day. Friendly, reasonable prices, knowledgeable, and they really, really helped me out. Thank you so much! Highly recommended!

After dealing with Attitude at Amaerican smog I took my business to Tom's. No appointment needed, and got me in as soon as I pulled up. Great group of dudes here

I would give 6 stars if I could. In and out in minuets for a smog. Will recommend everyone from Sonora to come here

Hafa Adai Hello there Yes I called before I went in gave me the info I need brought my car in all staff were polite ready for my service and gave me a time estimate and it did right on time thank you so much Oakdale also Tom's teams. Highly recommended!!! .

We took our car to this shop for engine repairs costing $1500. Shop warrantied work for 1 year/12000 miles. About 60 days later car began having similar probs so we took it back. SHOP REFUSED TO EVEN LOOK AT CAR UNLESS WE PAID ANOTHER $90 DIAGNOSTIC FEE! We diagnosed car free at OReilly's & prob was related to repair. SHOP STILL REFUSED TO LOOK AT CAR! A family friend took the car back to this shop, posing as someone who just bought the car, expressing concerns about the status of the engine & recent repairs. GUESS WHAT? Shop acknowledged a part was needed & fixed car without charge (or diagnostics). When I went to retrieve car after "free" repair, the owner's wife was quite angry & rude citing OUR dishonesty! I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.Response to owner comment below: Our family has resided in Oakdale since 1961 and we have always tried to support local businesses. A warranty is a PROMISE to "stand behind" the work you've been PAID to complete ($1500 is a lot of money); you REFUSED to even look at the car unless we paid for additional diagnostics. The fact the car was easily repaired (without additional cost) once our family friend stepped in to help...speaks for itself...& your shop. Food for thought: when a young member of our community patronizes your shop...treat them with respect...you never know who is standing behind them.Service: Engine repair

Tight knit, family run business that offer fair and honest prices and repair times to their customers. Been a loyal customer for many years and I believe they are one of the best mechanic shops in the area. Would highly recommend getting a quote from them for any mechanical issue your vehicle may be facing.

Update: Upgrading my review after the shop reached out to me once they finally had a complete perspective of what happened. That goes a long way in my opinion of any business.I'm upset at them and they're upset at me. I would have taken my car elsewhere, but they assured me they could look at it the next day. Later they called and said it would be $240 for diagnostic check. I agreed, but 48 hours later they couldn't tell me a single thing about what what the car would need. Then they told me I didn't understand how that car worked. I told them I would pay them what I owed them and take the car elsewhere - they pushed it off their property, threw the keys into the car I was driving, and told me they didn't want my money. I took it a couple blocks away and should have an estimate by noon next business day.

Took BMW to get fixed because it was smoking. 33 days later they claimed it was "fixed". Nothing was done. The car is worse then before. SAVE YOUR MONEY and get your car fixed with a company with integrity not crooks.

Arrived for a smog check with no appointment, but was in and out within 30 minutes. As an added bonus Tom's handled all of my DMV paperwork and was able to provide my new registration as well as my new sticker directly to me. The gentleman I worked with was professional, friendly, and I would certainly return to have my other vehicles smogged there. Thank you!

Took my car there for a smog check, in and out in 20 minutes. Cannot ask for better than that, definitely recommend.

Had to smog and pay registration today wow I must say it was fast pleasant and easy !!! Great experience !! DMV services available are convenient would recommend

Very nice All American people very reliable called in asked for an RV smog appointment they said no appointment necessary bring it in we'll take care of it if no parking in front double Park nice wide Street will be right out to drive it in i stop by gave her the keys she gave it to employee went out brought it in smogged it and I was on my way within 30 minutes $100 RV smog yes I will go back

I would like to thank them for honest thorough work. I have brought multiple vehicles to them and been very impressed with service and only doing what I really needed. It s awesome to be able to trust a mechanic.

This place is a complete Joke I took my vehicle here and i explained to them the noise coming from under my wheel. They called me and said that they didnt hear anything that my front bumper cover was loose. I told them no i went and drove the lady around who is front desk paper work lady not a mechanic. She said she kind of heard it went back i left my truck there the whole day they call me again. She said her husband stands by his diagnosis of the bumper. I paid them 90$ for nothing they did absolutely nothing not even listen to there customer. Took my truck to the chevy dealer and it was the sway bar end links. Never again will i go to this place they are horrible.

I love Tom's, they fix exactly what you need fixed. They dont try to add on more to you and they are very friendly. I've taken our car here for the past few years and have never had an issue.

Took my 32 yo truck to this place for a smog. The trucks never failed a smog and has All factory original parts. Well after waiting 45mins, I'm told the truck failed because the mechanic couldn't find the timing marks. They recommended I replace the harmonic balancer real quick and bring it back. This place is a joke, I took my truck to American smog the next day, they smogged my truck w no problem.

Took my car in to get repairs done after seeing something different decided to not work on the vehicle after it was the part I had come in to get replaced and as I had received a call from them saying they couldn t do anything which was also fallowed by a lot of unprofessional comments towards the owner and on top of all of that they had given back a faulty vehicle which could have ended badly for the driver if he did not pop his hood before he left and ended up fixing what I had went in for on the side of the curb in-front of the building this is proving why car enthusiasts do not go to shops

They had my car for almost a week. Kept telling me they would call me and never followed through. Eventually I had enough and went to retrieve my car. They never even worked on it. They get one star for not trying to charge me.

I had a typical auto repair shop visit. Typical in that the Mechanic didn t care about fixing my car and the Management was trying to take all my money.My P.T. Cruiser s Check Engine Light came on. I got an oil change at Jiffy Lube and the Technician said that the Cam Shaft Code came up. After clearing the code from my car the Check Engine Light came back on. Another visit said it was the same code. I had been noticing that the Temp Gauge would spike to red, fall all the way down and not register the temp for a period of time and then start working again. Also randomly my car would not start or stay on (the engine running). But if I would pump the gas and/or wait a few minutes and my car would start.So I took it to Tom s Smog and Automotive Shop. The first visit the Manager said that my Temp Sensor was blown, $151.00 for parts and labor. But I got my car back within the day. I thought I got a good deal. The later the same day the Check Engine Light came back on again and I noticed the Temp Gauge do the spiking thing again.The next day I took my car in. $40.00 for the Socket for the Temp Gauge, is that even a part in my car? This is starting to stink but I am a single parent and I need my car. So I pay. Later that day, again the Check Engine Light comes on and the Temp Gauge spikes again.The next day take my car in, and the next, and the next. This is 5 days in a row that the Shop has my car. On the fifth day the Manager says that it is the ECM, the computer for my car. Estimated cost $800.00, but they haven t even fixed my car liked they claimed on the first day.Got feed up and told them that I would be taking my car to the dealership. Yes, I would pay a lot more, but at least I know they will fix my car.Four days later, my car won t start at all. Called AAA and the Tow Truck driver said that he had a similar issue with his vehicle. Took me to his friend s Chris Garage, yes he is a mechanic. Come to find out that it was my spark plugs. Explain to me how after having my car five days in a row, a Mechanic would not think to look at my engine and check the spark plugs.This screams to me either the Mechanic at Tom s Smog is lazy, incompetent, and/or greedy. The Management obviously knows because FIVE DAYS, this is just ridiculous.So based on my experience, DON T GO THERE, even if you tell them exactly what work you want done to your car. There is no guarantee that they have done the work when you pay the bill.
