I have known the owner (Brian) for years. I met him when he was at Steve s in El Cerrito. Steve s shop was one of the best! They were honest, they treated you well and Brian obviously took this excellent customer service with him to his new shop!I found out about it when I called Steve s for an appointment and was told that Brian was no longer there because he had his own shop. I am so glad that they were kind enough to tell me where he was.Brian is # 1! He is straight forward, honest & doesn t make you feel like an idiot if you don t know anything about cars.When waiting to pick up my car I have heard him tell people to go ahead and shop around for quotes, have seen him help people with little things as well as inform others about what they should do.I would recommend his shop to everyone I know & those I don t know. He has a customer for life!

Brain was so kind at explaining things to me and making sure i knew properly what may be the issue ,he was up straight , he didn t want to take my money like most mechanics he told me what i would be spending my money on if i did need a service and why ! he didn t mind sending me elsewhere to get cheap tires and etc he really helped me save time and money and taught me things about my car! definitely would go here !

Brian is very polite, professional and an excellent at his work. I have been dealing with some wheel noise for a while. Brian accurately diagnosed it and fixed it to my satisfaction. He is also very ethical. He was able to reuse some parts and that saved me quite a bit of money. He also stands by his work, which is hard to find these days. Brian didn t just earn this 5 star review but also a customer for life.

I haven't been here for years but it's now new ownership. My power window broke and is stuck in down position. I took it in just before N Y Eve and Brian fixed it on the same day. I will definitely return and highly recommend him.

I called Brian regarding a pre-purchase inspection on a used car I ve been eyeing in the market. It was my first time buying a used vehicle, and Brian gave me all the insider and necessary tips that I should consider while negotiating with the seller. All these tips ensured that I would not get scammed, and for that I deeply appreciate Brian s advice. Brian even told me that once I settled a time with the seller, I could just bring the car in the shop without an appointment, and Brian could set aside time to do the inspection for me because he understood how much of a hassle getting to a pre-purchase inspection can be. Although I never got to that point with the used car negotiation, Brian s priceless advice and accommodating attributes that day spoke significance volume! I will definitely come back to Brian if I ever find myself in a car situation again! He s got my recommendation!

Absolutely love the smile on this mechanics face I don't know his name but all I know is I've never seen a mechanic so happy his smile was super contagious I love my experience solely based on that alone. Although it's an extremely busy location, which usually indicates that they're good mechanics

Went there a couple of times over the last two years for regular maintenance, flat tire, oil changes, and wheel repair. They are always courteous and friendly. If you are a regular, they don't charge for minor fixes like fixing a flat tire. They don't push for unnecessary repairs and even recommend other places if they think the price is better elsewhere. Ask for Brian, he's been great

I visited Brian on 2 separate occasions related to the engine not cranking and then not starting on my 2009 Honda CRV. Ended up being the starter and the ignition switch, respectively. Fair prices, friendly service, and best of all he kept me informed on the diagnostics and repair.

Brian is friendly and explains any issues in detail. Had been there to get a flat tire fixed, was also due for a service so got that done as well. I was charged $180 for oil change, brake fluid change and tire rotation for the accord. I recommend this auto service! Not only Brian is experienced and knowledgable, he is also nice and caring. I had a problem with rain water no draining, and Brian explained the problem and possible solutions, and how take care of the car.

***HOSPITALITY***This is HANDS-DOWN the best service I've ever received! Chris (the owner) literally was the most helpful and fair mechanic I've ever dealt with. He runs a tight ship and has great and hard working employees, but he gets down and works on the vehicles too. I called in the morning for a quote regarding a crankshaft seal replacement (I identified the problem myself and usually do my own work but I'm from North Carolina and here for work for a few months) and after talking with him on the phone I was assured he was going to do a great job and take care of the problem. He charges fair prices based on how long it actually takes them, even if it is faster than the standard time for service. This kind of honesty and integrity is NOT common. I dropped off my vehicle early afternoon after the phone call and was able to pick it up SAME-DAY with even extra stuff I had asked for completed (oil change, check-up, etc.). When I dropped off the vehicle and was waiting for a friend to come pick me up Chris made me a cup of coffee while he was in the middle of working just to accommodate me. When I came back to pick up the vehicle later that day I had to wait for a little while because he had other customers who were also picking up their vehicles. Chris treated everybody with respect and personally checked over each car and drove it with the customer to make sure everything was perfect before the customer left. I ended up being there until about 7 but Chris literally did not stop until the job was done. He personally washed underneath the engine bay so I could check for any more potential leaks or problems in the future, and BOUGHT ME DINNER along with his employees just for staying so late. I honestly don't know what to say but I've never experienced this kind of service. Fair, quality and fast work. Shout-out to Chris and his excellent mechanics!!!-Yes would recommend 11/10-Yes I'm coming back for any other vehicle issues

Awesome work by them. My 2007 Hyundai Sonata front brakes were totally gone. I couldn't drive more than 10 miles with those, so i had to get them replaced ASAP. I checked with other shops and they were trying to rip me off. I stopped by here (Automotive Service and Repair) just to check what they had to offer. I am go glad i found this place. They were quick to talk to me and take care of me right away. They did not randomly give crazy quotes, but they took time , removed the wheels and showed the wear and tear that had happened and told what needs to be done. Best of all they gave me a very competitive price. They resurfaced my front and rear disks and put new pads. The braking is awesome now. Thank you guys!

I ve been going to see Chris for years. He is the most honest mechanic I know. I think of him as family and that s exactly how he treats you. He is fair and his prices are honest. He has fixed my moms car, my daughters cars, and every car I have owned since 2012. If you want an honest mechanic who does great work, go to Chris and his guys. They are the best!!!

After looking good reviews here I tried this repair center. I must tell you, every word written in reviews are true. They're really good. They diagnose correctly and charge reasonably. They're honest and sincere in their work.My car starts fine but as soon as I release accelerator, it dies. My case was handled by Chris and he does a good job. After repair, check engine light never came back and my car passed smog test also.I like to point out few things which I liked about them:First time correct diagnosis;Doing permanent fix;Reasonable charges;Good customer service;and most important they're honest.I like to congratulate "Automotive service & repair" and Chris for giving good customer service to customers.I'll recommend all my friends to get the repair done here only.Best in Newark, CA. Better than any Fremont service centers.

Highly recommended place for diagnostics and service. Brian(new owner) is a fantastic person. Not only did he diagnose the problem correctly but also recommended taking the car back to the dealership for warranty repair.

Brought in a 2008 Audi for a pre-sale inspection, which cost $100 and was done on the spot (I didn't have an appointment). The owner Chris seems knowledgeable and is very fun to interact with. The inspection itself was thorough and fairly quick, taking maybe 35 minutes. The only downside is that I had to wait 10-15 minutes while Chris was following up some issues with other customers over the phone - this seemed slightly disorganized.

Ever since I got my lexus 5 years ago, I've always been going here for literally everything! From a full tune up, water pump replacement, radiator replacement, brakes and rotors, you name it. All the normal wear/tear and replacements parts for your car, Chris and his boys will do the perfect job every time. They're passionate and they work extremely hard to keep you satisfied. Best of all, their price are very reasonable. This shop gets busy at times, so that's a great sign they're doing good business, and make sure you call them first. Often time, you'll be able to pull up right away. Best private mechanic shop in the bay area

Really disappointed with this place. I took my car here last week for what was an unknown problem at the time. I called on Monday to make an appointment for Thursday. I go in on Thursday and I make it very clear I need the car back by the end of the day. Noon comes and they say it will be ready Friday. Again I try to make it as clear as can be that I need the car back by the end of the day. The owner, Chris, says there's no way he can do that and that I should "uber around." So obviously he doesn't respect others and their time. Then I go there in the afternoon because the day has almost ended and I haven't gotten a proper update. Chris barely explains what's wrong but he thinks it's the head gasket. Common Subaru issue but he says it won't be ready until Monday and they're closed on the weekend. Why would it take 2 more working days to take care of a common issue? So Friday morning comes and I call and tell them to have it ready by noon because I found someone else who will respect me and my time and have it ready in a day. Chris explains that they finally know what's wrong. More than 24 hours after i drop off the car, they are just getting around to figuring out what's wrong. According to the other mechanic I used it wasn't the head gasket. So not only was their service bad but their diagnosis was wrong. Just don't go here. Unless you don't mind leaving your car to sit in their small parking lot for a week or more and don't mind bad service.

I'm from the Central Coast and I called to see if they could do a pre-sale inspection. Chris was very busy but told me he could squeeze me in. I brought the van in. Chris immediately recognized some problems with he sound of the engine, he communicated to me while being kind to the seller who was standing right there. I stopped the inspection because it confirmed some of the suspicions I already had. In 10 minutes he saved me $12,000 and did not charge me. I paid him some anyway.Chris La is a man of integrity and is a joyfully person to be around. He has great energy and as a lot of knowledge. This review is long overdue. I originally discovered this place because I had a tire problem and they were the closest place by that could help me, and did! I had rotator resurfaced here and it made a huge difference in how smooth my car drove. They also even helped me fix an electrical outlet problem within my Honda Odyssey minivan. I also decided to bring my car here for service because AutoNation Honda seriously disappointed me. AutoNation Honda in Fremont charge higher prices but I figure it was okay on account of other amenities they offered (nice waiting room, courtesy van ride, etc.) but then the good service advisors kept leaving and didn't replace air filters like they should have (I found out at a later oil change). Since I have been bringing my car to Automotive Services & Repair Inc I have been much happier. I am treated like a friend and Chris takes a lot of pride in his work. They don't have a nice waiting room to sit in with your kid, but they do good work at very reasonable prices. I always like saving money!

I took my Honda for a brake service to this auto shop. I was under the impression that they d give me a full service for replacing my brake pads and rotors. Though, they didn t adjust the parking brake which I thought would have been included. When I brought my car back and asked if they could adjust it for me. The owner helped and brought the tech who worked on my car to tell me why he wouldn t adjust it. Mentioned to me that it had something to do with the caliper or the shoe. He didn t seem clear with what he said. At the least, I would want them to adjust it for me. But I guess not.Service: Brakes

I went to Automotive Service and repair mid-August for an oil change and check my Camry 2007 le status early in the morning after many positive reviews on yelp. But they just make me frustrated and do not meet expectation level. First of all, they charge $37 for a conventional oil change which is expensive if they do not offer other inspection services. So I asked them what complementary inspection they will do for my car. They said mostly brake, fluid label tire pressure. As they have 5* rating so I thought they will do best of it. So I agreed and wait for 20min and asked the owner to inspect my struts and make a quote. But after an oil change, they said all are good and I need to leave my car their spot for a quote. So I get confused why should I leave my car for a quote I asked the guy, he said he needs to check the price but I said I want an estimate only. He said he will call me tomorrow. Then I leave for my office and find my washer fluid is almost empty and they put a sticker for 5000 miles for conventional oil and no oil grade is written on the sticker. So I back to them ask what happened the mechanic said it's ok and normal. So I leave and go to another shop to cross check their statement. And that guy show me personally my rear brakes are 25%, very low washer fluid, front tires are 20%, also front brakes are 40% and said conventional oil is good for 3000 miles. And after a week I didn't get any call from them about a quote too. So I think this shop is not basically good for inspection and oil change and I am also confused about their level of expertise in others works. Won't go there anymore.

These guys are as honest. They won't rip you off. I've taken both of my cars for various repairs, all done properly and without any problems. The prices they quote are not higher than average. You get what you pay for here, which is excellent work.

I cannot believe I actually believed Chris what he said and charged me $1800 for repair in my BMW Here we are into 2nd month and the pry he replaced is defective. Throttle body is defective and has to be replaced. Not only he jeopardized my safety, he lied to me and my son that he replaced it with brand new part. In reality he lied he never did. I will be calling my credit card company to make a stop on this charge and leave yelp as well. He is not trustworthy at all. Horrible experience.***********This is updated review********Thank you Chris for making it right and replacing the part and paying Eddie German repair shop for the repairs. It makes a huge difference when someone s up to there mistake and makes it right. Thank you for understanding that to me my sons safety was important that something did go wrong when you replaced the part. I appreciate you going out of your way and making this right. Thank you.
