Great guys. I live a few blocks from Kevin s shop and can t recommend them enough. When my car needed a jump they trusted me with their portable jumper without even asking who I was. When I needed some mechanical work done on a tire they completed the work expeditiously and refused payment since the work was very minor. Awesome guys to trust with all your car repair needs.

My car has been having starting problems since mid-September, and I even had to call a tow truck. But the tow truck master woke up the program and started my car. After that, I was afraid that there would be no way to start it again, so I drove the car directly to Dealership.Since it was a Saturday, they said they had to wait until Monday for a mechanic to inspect the car, and the inspection fee would be $257.My husband and I discussed it and started the car several times, but nothing happened. We just drove the car away, and surprisingly the same problem didn't occur for a week. Another Saturday, my car stopped working again at the same time. I had no choice but to send it to Stress Free Auto Repair, and unexpectedly found that their inspection fee was $56. They were the only repair shop I could find that was open on Sundays. As a result, they tested all the programs and found no problems, and there were no abnormalities every time they started. We were notified on Monday to pick up the car. Since no problems were found, they did not charge us any fees (I think they are very sincere about this). On the third Saturday, the car went on strike again. My husband joked: Maybe he really wants to implement a weekend weekend system. This nearly month of strike protest is just hoping that we can accept this suggestion hahaha. The very next Wednesday, as expected, the car actually stalled at the traffic light (it was waiting for the light to turn red, but luckily it wasn't halfway). My friend recommended Kevin's Auto Repair, and I sent my car to their place the next day without even thinking about it. Their have full of orders (there were at least 20 people in front of me, and there were several car repairmen working at the time. Including Kevin, they were all over fifty, and two of them were about the same age as my grandfather, and they looked very experienced.) I was afraid that the engine would stall halfway, so I drove straight to the area where they were repairing the car. Although I was accused of not blocking the entrance and exit, they still patiently came over and led me to park somewhere else. When I started it again, it started up. As soon as the master heard this, he said it was a problem with the Starter. I originally wanted to wait on site, but he saw that I was a little anxious and embarrassed. Said we would give you a quotation and plan as soon as possible, go home and wait. You see, there are more than 20 people waiting in line in front of you. I took a look at the quotation on the table. Still took a taxi home. While waiting, I wanted to minimize the cost of repairing the car. I called 5-6 companies to get quotes (I asked them to break down the Starter and Labor fees), including Dealership, and they were all between $1,000 and 1,500. In the afternoon I received a quote from Kevin, $554.65. It s more than half cheaper than all the ones I consulted. I asked them to fix it at that time and gave me some time. They said they could pick it up at 8:30 the next morning. Love the service

This is the best place and Kevin's knowledge is the best I've ever seen. He is honest, reasonable and gets the job done with care and efficiency. My highest recommendation. Both my wife's and my Mercedes Benz have found a mechanic. Thanks.

You know a shop is good when the actual price of the repair is less than the quote they gave you!I came to Kevins autorepair with a bunch of parts I bought online and asked them to install them for me. Price for labor was very fair and less than the quotes I had gotten over the phone. I'm guessing the work required less time considering all the things I wanted to install.Lastly, I had a small coolant leak after they replaced my radiator and water pump. Took it to them and even though the looked into it and did some system pressure tests, they couldnt find anything and didnt even charge me!Its hard to find a shop you trust and I will be coming back for my future service needs.

Great service, great folks, great value. Don't go if you're looking for fancy wait rooms or spotless floors lol, but definitely go if you want to be treated with respect and honesty while your vehicle gets fixed by the best.

I have my car s front lights fixed here (2009 Honda pilot). First time customer, but the best experience so far. Tony fixed two lights right away in 10 minutes so that I can drive legally, and booked an appointment for the next Friday because they didn t have the free rack to fix the 3rd light. They didn t charge me until all the lights were fixed. They have the honesty in all aspects! Never seen such a reasonable labor fee. they are sincere and friendly folks. Really appreciate the service from Tony! I will recommend to all my friends. Btw, the 4.9 high rating from Google map is absolutely true.

A rare occasion when you can actually trust your mechanic not to screw you. The only draw back is that they are popular. I suggest you call first and make an appointment if possible.

Its always hard to find a mechanic you can trust, but Kevin's Auto have always been honest and helpful to get my cars back on the road. I have a few newer and older cars and the mechanics here have no problems working on both. Glad to have found a good mechanic in the Bay Area to work on my cars.Service: General repairs & maintenanceService: General repairs & maintenance

Honest, helpful, and dedicated to helping you get your car in the best condition possible. I have been going to Kevin's for over 20 years now, and I have always been respected, treated fairly, and they always answer any questions I have about service or car. I am on my 3rd car that I take there. If your car is older and/or out of warranty, I highly suggest you take your car here.

Best and most honest mechanic in the whole of California or at least anywhere near Mountain View, California. If I still lived in California I would take all my cars there.

I highly recommend to anyone looking. I had two windows not rolling down on the driver's side and I normally go to the dealership but they were booked out for 3+ months in two locations near me. I went to Kevins and never going back to dealerships. They were professional, so fast, had great communication, and made the process so easy. They did not overcharge me and got me in for an appointment within a week.

Significant communication issues. Subpar quality of service. The credibility of reviews may be questionable, as it seems the staff lacks proper customer service training. Their rudeness and strong opinions could be intimidating for potential visitors. There are many repair shops around that are MUCH better. You'd have plenty time to try out several options before deciding to come here, because anyway you'll be waiting for days before they'd even see your car; Surprisingly, they're very busy. Giving extra two stars because they don't seem to matter much.If you're a human, and want to be treated like one, do NOT visit this place. Period.

2017 - Stopped by Kevins' on my way to work seeking a second opinion and a quotation for repairs on a 1999 4-Runner. The local Toyota dealer said "replace CV-boot" and various front-end bushings. Another local repair shop wanted $65 (non-refundable, not to be applied to service work) just to take a look. After a three minute wait, Kevin (himself) just went out, shimmied under the front wheel area, and checked it out. When I bent down to look too, he held a little mirror and his flashlight and explained what we both saw together.Bottom line - Normal Wear and Tear - slight leak - Monitor but don't replace anything now - maybe tighten a clamp next time I have a service. No charge - no work $ for him - ... His comment when asked... "We don't do make believe here"(!).I now fully intend to be back with real work. He won a new (non make-believe!) customer.Regular customer for 6+ years.Update - 2023/2024 -Still 5 stars - 2009 Camry oil change - "We noticed some dried water spots - you need to replace the water pump". (Oh no, the scam scheme has started...sigh, wait, think...). I marked the H20 reservoir, and after 6 months, the level had not appreciably changed. But(!) I did notice water splash on the lower frame area near the wheel well under the pump area. Dried it throroughtly (just left over rain, right?). After a round trip to SFO on a sunny day- checked. The little 1/4 teaspoon of water was there again. A very, very slow leak. Online search shows it is probably a deliberate, weep-hole signal by Toyota that internal seals are wearing out (14 year old car). Replaced pump at same quote from 9 months previous. No more little puddles, peace of mind. Thanks!

Down to earth, super friendly, very honest, customer centric, very very reasonable price (many times even free tips). Kevin, Tony and staff are great to work with. I highly recommend Kevin's Auto shop and I worked with him on three different cars and never disappointed.

Superb service, nice guys, and very honest!I have a Ford Explorer sport 2016, and the right rear upper molding (a plastic board) was broken. I bought the part online and needed someone to install it for me. The installation is a bit tricky because we need to take off the right rear window glass that sticks to the metal, install the molding, and stick the glass back. I checked with many auto repair stores in Mountain View, and two Ford dealerships. Kevin's auto repair gave the lowest quote $150. I sent the car there and they did a great job. When I picked it up, I was told the final price is $120 because the glass guy charged them less than expected. This is the first time I saw such honest auto repair guys! Even they don't tell me, I would not know it. Last but not the least, the service itself is superb. When I left there, they also told me some things to avoid in next 24 hours to ensure the glass firmly sticks to metal.

I've been taking my cars to Kevin's for more than 10 years and have had nothing but positive experiences. I have some older cars and odd issues come up from time to time that Kevin's has taken care of without hassle and needless expense. I recently took my 2005 Sienna in for an engine warning light issue which in-the-end required a thermostat replacement. They also replaced the engine coolant hoses which were original and were getting weak. All was taken care of the same day.Service: Engine repair

I've been to Kevin's shop at least 4 times in a last few years. This is not a place for you if you are looking for:1. Fancy waiting room2. Sleek "assistants"3. Overpriced parts and servicesHowever if you in need of top notch mechanic that loves and cares about cars and you like to deal with down to earth, straight to the point people, you won't find a better place in the area. Here is why I love this shop:They drive me home and back so I don't need a ride or wait there for the repair.Their prices are very reasonable. I always check prices in a couple of places before taking a car for repairs and I always find Kevin's offer the best.At my last oil change Kevin cut the price of the job, (which was without the discount lower than the competition), and I never asked for the discount. My last repair was for a shaking wheel while braking at the high speed and oil leak. When they brought me back to the shop I got quite a shock. Tony said the repair was free. According to Kevin it was under warranty. I have to say that I really appreciate it.My car is old and even if they could get a warranty on the parts they replaced, they still spent significant time on the work itself. This shows you people that proud of their work.

Kevin and Nick are professional and very knowledgeable. Great customer service and truly enjoyed my experience with them.2013 Honda Pilot broke down on dumbarton bridge and used Kevin s Auto Repair because of their great rating and close to home. Fixed my car and haven t had any problems. 1 year later we took both of our cars for maintenance. I like them because they only address problems that needs to be fixed. No pressure for other servicesHighly recommend!!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine tuning, Wheel alignment, Brakes, Battery, Oil change

Fantastic service. No BS and told me exactly what was going on. Didn t charge me for filling up the power steering and that fixed the noises my vehicle was making. They told me to bring it back in if it starts making noises again. Will be coming here for any services I need in the future. Finally a place I can trust.Service: Steering & suspension repairService: Steering & suspension repair

Great place with straightforward no-nonsense service! Sounded like they were pretty busy but they still got to my car fairly quickly, found the problem, and fixed it!Gave them a heads up of a few other minor things about the car that were acting up and these guys fixed those as well while they were working on the car and didn't charge extra / dime n' nickel me for it either.I tend to go with my gut on auto mechanics and they did a great job, will definitely be coming back!

Picked up my explorer from Kevin's today. It's running great now. They explained what was wrong with it (leaking coolant was because of old and loose hose clamps), how they fixed it and how they tested to make sure that the coolant was not leaking anymore under pressure. Thus is the third time I've gone to their shop and I've had good experiences with my explorer and before with my cavalier (to replace a radiator and general tune up).I'd recommend making an appointment if you need to get something fixed more quickly, but even without one I go my car back after a couple days.

My car(2014 VW Jetta) was towed in due to starting issue. There was a problem in fan control module. I paid ~$800 ($445 for parts (Radiator fan) and $ 310 for 2 hrs labor). It took 7 working days to get my car back.

I have visited this shop twice, once for 90K miles maintenance and another time for taillight warning sign on the dashboard (I drive a 2001 Toyota Avalon). Both Kevin (the owner) and Tony (the technician) are both very knowledge about car repair and gave me recommendation on what is essential to fix during the 90K miles since the car is pretty old and I am not going to keep it for too long. A few weeks after the taillight warning sign turn on (probably wasn't related to the 90K miles maintenance) and I went into Kevin's store again and Tony replaced and fixed the taillight within 5 minutes and he did not charge me anything. I would recommend Kevin's shop!
