an honest, reasonable shop for your exhaust needs. they're pretty busy so expect to make an appointment for a different day, but they'll fix what ya need. friendly owner too

I incredibly rarely give negative reviews. The guy who helped me out was incompetent, rude and apparently had an exceptionally fragile ego.I scheduled an appointment on the 7th for a catback exhaust system install, and when I arrived, he asked me my thoughts and opinions on what could/should be done for install.He expressed doubts that the bolt-on system was in fact bolt on, and when I simply said my guess is it ll fit correctly , he threw a tantrum and told me to get out. His words, not mine: I have never seen a system that fits correctly. We re done. Bye bye . He finally pulled my car out, left it in neutral and did not engage the parking brake, causing it to almost roll out of their lot.Very out of the blue, incredibly frustrating and disappointing to have prepped for this to have it canceled for no reason whatsoever. Do not come here if you know anything about cars, you may threaten the mechanics ego and have him cancel on you. 0/10 stars

Bay muffler has been around since before I was born. Have been there with my grandfather and then as an adult for exhaust work and the occasional therapy session. Seriously, a gem in an old school way. There are no replacements coming for these places as they go away, just corporate generic stores. They do more than exhaust. Get to know the crew and you're a part of the family. Trustworthy and very experienced in what actually works, not just what a book or computer says.Service: Exhaust

Took my 2002 Toyota to get a catalytic converter installed due to Check Engine light. Owner was able to install it in under 30 minutes and it worked like a charm and passed SMOG after that. He's also a really cool guy and enjoyable to just talk to. Would recommend.Service: ExhaustService: Exhaust

Fast and reasonable for installation of a cage over our catalytic converter. We've used them for other car repairs and always honest and great service. Highly recommended.

I would give ten stars if I could. I will admit that I really don t know much about the cars , so I was really anxious when my car has the issues, but they are just so professional and good at what they do!! You won t regret it! It s a family business for generations and Chris is a man of his words and professional and trustworthy and honest and everything you could ever ask for!!

I came to Bay Muffler in 2018 because my muffler had rusted through so completely that it fell off while driving. They replaced the muffler, and I thought the experience was good.Two years later the new muffler has completely rusted through. I am also told it was vastly undersized for my vehicle. It appears I was sold the cheapest option that was not appropriate for my situation, particularly involving returning to a part of North America with cold winters. (I believe the muffler I was sold was mild steel, which is not appropriate in an environment with rust potential.)I paid $286 for service in Mountain View and $412 for a replacement in Ontario. Considering cost of living, this price is probably fair in the Bay Area for what I was given. I wish I was given the appropriate part, however, considering replacing a muffler every two years is much less cost-efficient than getting the appropriate part and replacing it less frequently. I am also told my gas mileage will be better with a muffler of appropriate size.

I have an older car, and when the catyletic converter needed replacement I brought my car to Bay. The whole exhaust system was a wreck. Not only was I impressed by the quality of work they did, but their price was very reasonable considering parts AND the quality labor. I've recommended them to others, and my friends have reported the same results I did. Support local business. These guys know their stuff.

Did a great job fixing the noise on my car! 2008 Acura MDX. Went to 3 mechanics, none knee what the sound eas or where to start. Good fortune brought me to Chris and he knew exactly what to fix and for a reasonable cost. Wish all mechanics were as knowledgable and honest as Chris! Thanks for making my old baby sound new again.

My husband made a 2:00 pm appointment at Bay muffler, arrived at 2:00 pm and was out with the job professionally done by 2:39 pm. The price for the removal and repair of the broken off exhaust pipe at the front of the muffler and re-installation of the repaired muffler and pipe was very reasonable. My husband says that he would be happy to go back again for exhaust related problems.

These guys are excellent. Super friendly, generous with their knowledge, and do top-quality work. You can just tell they genuinely care about doing right by their customers and take pride in their workmanship. They could probably charge more too.

We took our 1999 Mazda Miata to Bay Muffler because it failed the Smog Test with an error for the Catalytic Converter. I asked them to also replace the two O2 sensors. Got the Miata back but the Check Engine light came back on. Called and took it back and Chris found one of the new O2 sensors was defective. He replaced it no charge, parts or labor, and the Miata is ready for more carefree driving! They're local, knew Don my former mechanic at Park Automotive in Palo Alto and, are friendly, courteous and Knowledgeable.
