Mel is an awesome mechanic and I can t recommend him enough to anyone that has a BMW. I have been coming to him for 4 years now. I am always greeted with very friendly service and am tended to my car needs in a speedy manner.If you have a BMW that needs service or a regular routine check don t look any further. Mel is very knowledgeable and will take care of any BMW need you may have.

I've been taking my E30 to Mel at Autobahn for years now. Mel is highly knowledgeable about BMWs, and very easy to communicate with, fast and delivers high quality work.With older cars, you can always do more work. knowing what is necessary, and what can wait is important. Mel makes it easy to strike that balance

I have been coming to Autobahn for the past seven years. Mel is very knowledgeable and honest. He is awesome in troubleshooting problems I had and only recommended what is necessary. Of all the different independent places I have dealt with, Autobahn is by far the most honest, capable, and dependable shop. I've been here twice now. I drive a 2004 BMW e46 330Ci 6 speed. I took my car there once during fall 2021 to get a new water pump, brake pads, thermostat, and front control arm bushings installed. I dropped the car off on a Friday morning and it was ready by 4pm the same day. I was very surprised to get it back the same day, so I checked to make sure the new parts were indeed installed and they were.I often DIY service on my car and, if I'm stuck, I sometimes call and Mel always has useful advice. I had an incident replacing my oil filter housing gasket and received some good advice.I just took my car there again to get a new clutch installed. I went with an ACT street clutch and, due to shop policy, I needed to bring the parts in with me since ACT kits are not OEM. There was a blocker on this project because it turned out that ACT had shipped me the incorrect release bearing for the clutch. Mel worked with me to get it sorted out and was willing to wait while I called the manufacturer to find out if I could use a OEM release bearing without voiding the warranty. He also helped advise on what parts to replace. I ended up also replacing the rear main seal, fork, fork release spring, and fork pivot pin in addition to the new clutch kit. I also had new exhaust mounting hardware installed.The clutch works beautifully with no issues.During the clutch job, Mel found the mounting hardware to my exhaust was damaged. He also found that section 1 of my exhaust system was bent. Other reinforcement bars and heat shield under the gas tank were bent. He took pictures and shared them all with me. Very useful since now I know exactly what's damaged.Every time I'm there, I see some collector-type BMW. It's really fun to walk in an see an E30 M3 on the lift or, last time, I saw a phoenix yellow e46 M3 convertible with matching hard top. Clearly the right guy for any BMW enthusiast. He is willing to explain and offer advice if you ask.The work always seems fairly priced and well done. I would recommend anyone with a BMW to come here.

Mel is truly a BMW guy! We took our x3 to him a few times with couple of intricate issues (its run 80K!) and he was very straight forward and honest on what needs fixing. Fixed the issue and the car was back to us in no time. Driving well :-) What we really like about him is he is calm, listens to the issue and then explains what may be the issue. He performs good diagnosis and is very transparent.He is our goto and we recommend him to anyone looking for a BMW expert.

Mel is an awesome mechanic and just a great person to work with. Brought in my car today as it had issues with brake lights and headlights and he fixed all of it within 15 mins. No pushing for any redundant services. Straight talker - gave me good advice on how to maintain the car. There's something to be said about 'local' businesses and interacting with their owners who take pride in their business. Mel is one of them. Highly recommended.

Autobahn (Mel) has been my go to BMW indy shop since I purchased my 5 Series in 2013. I am very happy that I find Mel. BMW is a amazing car but it has its moments. Mel is the opposite of the dealership/repair shop in our local area (Mountain View BMW). I have been going to him for regular maintenance and all repairs needs. He knows BMW and passionate about cars. Mel is a honest and skillful mechanic. His quotes are very clear and reasonable. He uses all original parts. He is quick which is important since I need my car back. He will also call me in a timely manner to let me know how much and when my car will be ready. I appreciate the great communication. Most people who drives BMW are quite particular. I like dealing with the person working on my car directly so I know exactly what is going on. Mel delivers. My car is at 85K and I am planning on driving for many more years, thanks to Mel.

This place worked on my BMW Z4 coolant system. They replaced the sensors, the pump and a whole host of other parts. The coolant light came on again a couple of days ago. I refilled the coolant tank and went on my way but it came on again which is when I called them and went in for a check-up. He took 5 minutes to run diagnostics and told me that this time it was the coolant tank. It had cracked and needed replacing because it was too old. He made it seem like normal wear and tear and an isolated issue that would be an easy repair. However, I'd have to wait a week before they could get to it and there was nothing he could do to take on the repair sooner. I was still processing the 'diagnosis' when he suggested I take the car to another technician. Now, I can understand he had other jobs in the queue and I didn't want him to bump other customers to fix my car first. However, I needed my car urgently and I figured I will take his advise and speak to another BMW technician. So I did, this technician made a good point when he said that "since this shop had already done major repairs on the coolant system in the past it might be better if they fixed it for you, in case some of the same issues (from the past) had returned and caused the tank to crack". So fair point, I called them again and suggested he take a look at it for the above-mentioned reasons. But he refused. I was willing to wait and give them the time needed to check it out, but the conversation never got to that point because he hung up the phone when I tried to press him on parts warranty and service warranty. Not the experience I would pay for any time again. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
