Jim s Harbor House Hybrids have been servicing my car for many years.My car could not be happier with the low-milage engine they recently installedAt 556,000 odometer miles. The car runs beautifully. It is good to know thereIs an auto shop in town that can do it all. And well. Thank you!

The friendly service technician, named Michael, was very professional. He was informative when I asked him questions. He gave me some helpful tips about the issues that I was having with my vehicle as well. I will be continuing to take my vehicle to Jim's Automotive for the vehicle maintenance that I will need in the future. I suggest calling ahead of time when you bring your vehicle here as there was only a single employee working, and the shop did not appear to be open when I arrived. Michael told me that I kinda got lucky that he was outside when I arrived because otherwise he would not have seen me, and I might not have found him in the building adjacent to the shop where he does most of the computer work and phone calls. This place is expensive because it's an automotive shop and let's face it all of them are expensive. If this place was cheap, I would have given it 5 stars. I recommend Jim's Automotive and Hybrid.

Be wary if they ask to run diagnostics. Had to tow my car in. They charged me $500 for diagnostics. Found out later from my regular mechanic that the main issue with my car was the water pump overheating and that problem shows up quickly and easily when you plug in a diagnostic scanner. My regular mechanic never charges for plugging in the scanner so I could have saved big bucks going to him instead. I feel like I got scammed in a way. They did find a few minor things I wasn't aware about so I bumped the rating up to two stars.

Total fail here. Very poor communication skills, poor attention to detail, zero customer service, and a touch of dishonesty. Four big red flags here.I had an 8 a.m. appointment to get a smog test. Arrived a few minutes early and was then told that this business does not actually pay attention to appointments and work on my car would be started by 11 a.m. When I suggested that it might be a good idea to tell people that appointments don't mean anything, I was told that the woman who does the scheduling should have told me, and if not it would be included in text message sent the day before the so-called appointment. Neither of these things were done. The man then told me that he'd make sure my car would be the next vehicle tested, and to return at 9:30.When I returned at 9:30 a different man was behind the counter and nothing had been done with my car. After essentially repeating the same 'we don't do appointments' conversation and after this new person dismissed my concerns and firmly stated that "Claire always tells everyone that all appointments are for a 4 hour window" and that they would start on my car at 11. Period.At that point I cancelled the work and left.I made an 8 a.m. appointment at another Morro Bay auto shop the next day. I was done and in and out in less than 20 minutes, AND paid $30 less than the price quoted at this business.I don't know about other aspects, but if you're simply looking a smog test, I would definitely recommend you look elsewhere.

Absolutely horrible experience. I went in for an oil change, a thermostat replacement, and THEN a smog test. Instead they took the liberty of charging me for a 75 dollar diagnostic which was completely unnecessary since I specifically told them what I needed done, and then charged me a 60 dollar smog test knowing full well it would fail because the check engine light was on. They also were estimating a thermostat replacement on a 2014 Dodge Charger would cost about 300 dollars, despite the part being at most 30 dollars from an auto parts store. I told them I would not authorize the amount that was double the quote. So after having left my car there for nearly 7 hours, they managed to only get an oil change done. The maddening thing is, they charged me more on the unnecessary stuff than the $120 oil change! It s absolutely scummy that these people are willing to perform a smog, then charge you for it knowing it will absolutely fail. I went in with good faith thinking they d do what I asked, instead they acted I. Bad faith and were very eager to rip me off instead of doing the right thing.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Oil change

Ritchie and the guys at Jim's Auto do good work and look out for their customers. They pushed my appointment forward to keep me in the warranty period for a radiator that went bad after 3,000 miles, saving me a real chunk--cost me $0.00 for the replacement. Always transparent and fair dealing. I also appreciate their text messages with links to service reports so I can access and review before even getting on the phone with them or showing up at the shop. I trust them and their work!

Jim s automotive gave us a great estimate on an old car, they told us frankly how much it would be and when we decided that the car is better to be out to pasture they didn t charge a dime. Very friendly and open. 10/10 will visit for my next repair!

These guys are amazing! They are professional, communicative, and provided a quote that was similar to other shops I checked out. They are honest and reliable and did a great job replacing the ball joints on my car. Highly recommend.

Took my 1992 Miata to Jim's for a major service, timing belt, water pump, plugs, wires, and a number of other things. The cost of parts and labor was very reasonable considering the extent of what I asked to be done. I would publish the exact details of the invoice, suffice to say, the cost of parts to labor was about 2:1. I brought the car in very dirty and when I got it back it had been washed, the interior cleaned, and the engine bay you could eat off of it, I was really impressed. I would particularly recommend any one with a Miata to see them, as they have a racing team and really know their stuff when it comes to that car. I rarely review local business, but Jim's far exceeded my expectations.

Great service! Everyone was so friendly and excited everything clearly. I got a Cat shield for my prius and they did a wonderful job. They even washed my car! Amazing . I definitely plan on taking my prius here instead of the dealership.

I have two older vehicles. With the new Service point to point checklist, they can give you an idea of future needs of your vehicle and an estimate of cost. This is an extremely helpful tool for planning for future repairs and maintenance. I love that I can plan for those major jobs. Their service is superior, friendly staff, and prices more than fair.

Water pump went out on the family truck on the fourth of July in Morro Bay. No automotive shops open. The only rental car place open was the SLO airport. Tough position to be in. Based on the 5 star reviews, I had it towed to Jims Automotive. Being from out of town, I expected to get gouged, but they had it repaired within a few days and charged me what I would have expected from my own mechanic. Good people, good business.

Very considerate, superb mechanics,good management. They aren't cheap but very worth it. The guys in the bays are my heros, life became much more of a pleasure once he adjusted out the shriek in my powersteering, and that wasn't even why I'd gone there. I swear by them. They even make me want to do the maintenance work. And that's saying a lot

This is a great place to go for just about anything mechanical. I was on a motorcycle trip with some friends and had a problem with my bike, they helped me out and we were able to continue our coastal journey. Thanks for the help.
