Our experience with Niel has restored our faith and trust in auto repair and he deserves the highest rating for his work. He was quick to respond and communicated well, knew exactly what we needed, has good, honest pricing-- and best of all, he took care of our college student daughter's car and got it back to 100% condition same day. No hassle, no games, very personable and professional. This shop far exceeded our expectations and we are so glad to now have Niel's Auto as our "go to" mechanic while we have a family car in Moorpark.

Neil is my one-stop-shop. Love that I can drop my car off for a tune-up, tire rotation, and full detailing. He's also fixed my AC in the past. I ve been coming to Niel s Auto Service for about eight years now. He and his crew do great work, are trustworthy and always answer questions and respond to any concerns. I don t live terribly close by, so always wait while they do the work, and they are consistently prompt and attentive. I really appreciate that they let me know the maintenance that will be coming up soon, so that I can budget for it. Highly recommend!Service: General repairs & maintenance

I've been going to Niel's for about a year now and have been very pleased. One thing I appreciate with him and his team is that they allow me to see, watch and learn what they do on my cars. I'm no mechanic but I am mechanically-inclined and take my tough auto-repair projects I cannot handle to them. The auto mechanic shops I've gone to in the past (with the exception one who's retired now) wouldn't let me near their garage/bay area. That's pretty shady to me. I also appreciate his honesty & transparency, which is hard to come by with most auto mechanic shops. I would highly recommend Niel & his team of mechanics.Services: Engine repair, Air conditioning

I recently took a cross-country road trip so I wanted to give my 2018 Subaru a major maintenance. I had my car checked at the dealership before I went to the Neil's. They gave me a long list of auto parts I need to repair with unreasonable prices. My friend strongly recommended me to see Neil instead. He had everything on the list done and added one more item he thought necessary, but the total price was still significantly lower than the dealer!They did their work nicely and quickly. I dropped my car at 8:30 am and picked up at 4 pm. The location is great, too. It was adjacent to several business plazas with decent restaurants and grocery stores. Everything is in walking distance. I spent my day at a nearby coffee place waiting for my car.For first-time visitors, one thing I need to mention is that the direction given by Google map is wrong. The navigator asked me to make a right turn at E Los Angeles Ave@Park Ln. I spent 10 minutes driving back and forth along Park Ln and couldn't find anything. Actually you need to drive a little bit pass Park Ln and turn right into the plaza where you see Doggie Day Camp & Grooming and Sister sushi. I am so appreciative to have been referred to Niel s Auto Service. FINALLY- someone I can trust! When I first took my car to him he told me what I needed but said I could wait until I needed my oil change. After my previous experience with mechanics, I couldn t believe someone wasn t telling/selling me something that I didn t need. I waited until I needed my oil changed and got the repairs done. Fast, Thorough, Well-Priced, and Informative.I had to swing by on a Friday afternoon without an appointment to deal with a potential check engine light disaster. Neil was awesome. His team checked it out, had a thorough solve in place, and had me on my way in an hour.I learned a few more things along the way about the vehicle that I ve owned for years but didn t know that will save me from some future headaches, so not only do I feel like I came out ahead, I will be back if I need anything else done to this or any other vehicle I ve got!Service: Oil change

Niels Auto Service was the only place to answer my call on a Monday afternoon, and I m glad they did. From the very beginning I was treated with honesty and cordially. The fixed my issues in a timely matter and for a fair price, despite several days of non-stop rain. I will be coming back if I have any other issues and will recommend them to everyone. Niel s gives fast and honest service. I ve been taken advantage of at other places, but Niel always takes care of me and my car with excellence; I trust him completely and am grateful for how he handles everything for me, including things that ordinary repair shops would just laugh at. This service is the best; I recommend Niel s every chance I get.

Auto mechanics get a bad rap. And it s justified. Having owned cars for 35 years and dealing with shady mechanics and dealerships, Niel has restored my faith in this business. He is fair and honest to a fault. Anyone who says different is plain wrong. I will never take my car to anyone else ever again. I go to Neil's Auto because I know I will get an efficient and above all honest service. I just had my 50,000 mile service for my VW Jetta. Very reasonable, and done in good time. I really like this little company and can recommend Neil hundred percent.

Neil's flat out the best mechanic I've ever had. He's had the chance to rip me off many times, but he's always honest. He goes out of his way to accommodate my three year old son too. This guy is the best!

I went to Niels about three weeks ago to have my new truck inspected. I showed up the first day after calling and scheduling an appointment but somewhere along the line there must have been a mix up. He told me to come back tomorrow instead to have it checked out.The next day his mechanics gave a brief lookover on it and told me it needed a drag link and new steering linkage. I had been planning on selling the truck beforehand and I listed it for sale with the reassurance of his diagnosis. I posted the truck for sale at a generous price because it needed a little work and couple weeks later a buyer came to test drive it. He was happy with the truck and willing to fix it up but he wanted to have a mechanic inspect it for himself. He suggested to take it to a mechanic down the road, which was none other than Niel s automotive!We drove back to the shop to have it inspected so the buyer could have the same confidence in the truck as I had but when we arrived Niel just took a look at me and laughed. He said he didn t want to inspect a truck he had already taken a look at. After an uncomfortable 30-45 minute wait he reluctantly put the truck back on the rack for the buyer s sake.This time when his mechanics were through looking at my truck he claimed my truck had frame damage, it needed a whole new front end, and the brakes were about to go out. He made me out to be a liar and gave my buyer the impression that my clean title truck had been in an unreported accident! I was utterly humiliated and on the verge of tears.The buyer however, was a soldier in the Navy and believed what I said about having been to Niel s before and said he d buy my truck whether or not the frame was damaged. We drove down to a body shop that specializes in frame correction and once they took a quick look around they said my truck is fine! I didn t know what to think anymore! I just let the buyer pick a price and take the truck. I had been wanting to get a dirtbike for weeks and I didn t care anymore.The next day I got a text from the buyer saying the suspension is actually fine and it just needed a little front end work with the drag link and some bushings. My experience at Niel s was utterly humiliating and I m out a couple thousand dollars that I could have had if I hadn t taken my truck to here.

Can't say enough about how awesome Neil and his team are. I've always been told to never go to a mechanic or buy a car without a man, but when I moved to California without knowing anyone here, I didn't have a choice. I bought a pre-owned car privately and took it in to Neil for a check up, oil change, and battery/blown fuses(fault of a roadside company), at different times and was always worried what issues may be hiding. Each time they performed the work I needed with a thorough exam, replaced fluids, filled air, and charged me fair and surprisingly low prices. He even personally dropped me off and picked me up from my office down the street so I didn't have to uber. More importantly, they walked me through everything they did, and what kind of preventative care I should take when it comes up, and never ever tried to sell me anything I didn't need. A huge relief. Neil is a great guy, who just believes that honesty and fairness builds trust and long lasting customers, and he's right, those can be scarce commodities these days so it makes him stand out. I will never take my car anywhere else.

Very knowledgeable and helpful! My car is 28 years old (!) and Niel showed me immediately what was done wrong by previous, inexperienced mechanics. The repair cost was surprisingly reasonable as well!

Good shop Great service Niel's has the know how to repair your car without over charging. He fixes what is needed. The location is very Easy to find at the top of Taylor Court right across from Armstrong Garden Store on Thousand Oaks Blvd where the 23 & 101 meet. Check Niel's out and you will be glad you did!!

Was accomodating and nice. However, while on a road trip, they fixed the wrong wheel bearing. We left that night so couldn't bring it back. He tried saying there's a warranty. Well, that only works for what they worked on, so had to pay to get other side down. Tried telling me they probably both needed it. So it was a total waste if money.

Pathetic service and Dishonest!!I changed battery with them with a 24 month warranty and in less than 15 months it drained out 3 times.Fraudulent ! In changing batteries. I wasted by $130 on them!Avoid!!
