We ve been staying here for years, and it never disappoints. The rooms are cozy and have all the amenities you d need. Great view of the ocean, and right off the beach. The staff is always super friendly and helpful. Very reasonable prices for the location. Always clean and well maintained rooms. We recently stayed during a power outage, and Andrea, the manager, was so communicative and friendly. She goes 1000% above and beyond the standard for customer service. Stay in the penthouse, soooooo worth it!Noteworthy details: Rooms are super clean and cozy. Management and staff very friendly and accommodating. Tons of great spots for food and drinks nearby.

I can't recall staying in a weirder hotel than this. No one works here after 10pm, you literally can't check in after that. Our room looked like a ballroom with a wall to cut it in half with furniture added from a commercial supplier but also some from Wayfair. The beds were fine. The water wasn't very hot. The walls are clearly hollow, and the baby crying next door was not a good time. I guess it's close to the beach but we didn't get in with enough daylight to find out. Any lodging should make insulation in the walls a top priority. We were happy to leave.

The Inn is just a minute drive from the beach. Many of the rooms are able to see the ocean and the view is gorgeous. The Inn has a homey feel and the rooms look brand new. They are expansive, with hardwood floors, clean and large beds/sheets and a clean bathroom with all of the expected amenities. The rooms have their own ice machines, which is nice in theory, however it makes noise all night and woke me up a few times. The front desk is vacated at 10pm and you'll have to let yourself in and out of the building with your keycard. There is also a mandatory quiet hours at night so you won't have loud neighbors. They offer breakfast in the mornings as well. Would highly recommend here if you are staying in the area.

I've lived up the street from this inn for over 27 years, and never thought much of it until it changed hands and underwent a magnificent transformation. I booked a relative in a Queen room for one night and was stunned when I saw it--beautifully designed and spotlessly fresh; thoroughly inviting. The staff was welcoming, cheerful and attentive--the kind of people you want at the front desk. I cannot fathom why this is classed a 2-star motel. Maybe once, but under new ownership it's a solid 5. I'll be hosting other family members in the future and will look no further that Ocean View Inn. Thank you!

I loved it here ! The place overall was small for a hotel, but the rooms are large! It also made the experience feel intimate and peaceful. Its very clean, & has nice staff. I was able to upgrade my room to a room with a balcony. They have enough parking and they are right next to a gas station/ liquor store and a delicious sandwich shop and 4 minutes away from a delicious breakfast spot called "Pilot Light". The beach is also right across the street and you can have a bonfire there. They also have good breakfast apparently but we over slept and missed it.Cons: my only con is the view wasn't what I expected. I thought we would be right on the beach and have the ocean view outside of our balcony/ porch but the view is the parking lot and beach is across the st. Also the porch is shared. So you have to be mindful of your neighbors next door to you and above you unless you picked the room at the top floor, but overall I enjoyed my stay.

Super cute Inn about a 30-ish min drive from SF and 5-10 mins from Half Moon Bay. I stayed in the Oceanview Suite, it was spacious and clean and I loved the balcony set up also the bed was very comfortable. Worth noting that the view of the ocean is across the highway and beyond the trees. It s right next to a gas station and it s not a big issue except for my room had the worst blinds the white hanging kind (with one missing) and it let in all of the bright light from the gas station. I put up an extra blanket over the window to help a bit as the bed is in direct view. It s odd because the sliding glass door/window has actual curtains for privacy & darkness and if they just put up actual curtains over the rest of the windows it would solve the problem. Anyway, it s walking distance to Montara beach which was wonderful. The continental breakfast is passing and I wish they had fresh fruit, but nothing very substantial and you re probably better off going out for brunch. I think I would stay again, the location makes up for any shortcomings.

The reviews were correct - this was an excellent hotel. From the time I called for availability Angela was very pleasant and accommodating. We wanted to stay 3 nights and it was only possible if we switched rooms after 2 nights but then we were so pleased we ended up staying 4 nights! Rooms very clean, beds great- comfy pillows, bathroom spotless, great location. Christine and Angela were both very helpful during our stay. No breakfast but free coffee/tea 24/7. Restaurant next door gives 20% discount for hotel guests. Hotel may be a tad dated - we found it homey!

We arrived four hours early to our hotel so we asked for recommendations of things to do. The receptionist at the front desk was very helpful sorry I did not get her name. We had a great time with her recommendations. Upon check-in we found our room to be a beautiful clean huge room. We stayed in room 2 which is an attic room. We had a partial Ocean View out of the west-facing window and also from the balcony outside. Will definitely stay again.

Hotel 3; location 0Our room was well appointed and spacious. It also had a lovely view of the ocean. However, I didn t know that Cabrillo Highway (the listed address) and Highway 1 is one & the same in that section. Thehotel was on the east side of Highway 1, not the ocean side. The traffic noise was horrendous! That wascertainly nothing the hotel could do anything about. But it sure made a difference in our quality of stay.We couldn t enjoy our shared balcony & even with all the windows closed, the traffic was loud & made it difficult to sleep. Additionally, soundproofing was non-existent between rooms & between floors.Besides the ocean view, our view included the decrepit, run-down roofs of the gas station next door & another building. Again, not something that the hotel can change. Not a restful, peaceful stay. Very disappointing

I learned that new business recently continued under new ownership. It was clear the new owners were making the effort to build a healthy environment and a positive reputation. I experienced kindness, attention when needed and warmth that I would return to.The room was spacious, loved the deck and view. The new power showers they recently installed were amazing. I loved opening the sliding door and windows feeling the natural ocean breeze. The location was perfect for me and I can imagine it would be for others. Neighborhood was quiet, calm, and inviting. Walking distance you'll find a wonderful coffee shop (closed on Wednesday for the summer)and a tasty sandwich place with a large selection. I decided on my last day that I would return the Ocean View Inn and I will.Just booked our next stay.See you then!

We initially were looking for a place for a night while we decide what we wanted to see & do on our vacation. The moment we walked into the room, we fell in love! The next morning we decided to stay another night since it was convenient to the places we were visiting. The front desk offered us a room on the second floor for the same rate as the first floor with a much better view and more space! We stayed a third day!Superb hospitality and location. We WILL stay here when we are in the area again.

The Ocean View Inn is my new favorite spot. I like the privacyand sizeof the rooms. I had the opportunity to peek into most of the rooms during my stay. I have stayed in #3 and #1. If you are there for more than one night, room #1 is the way to go. The service is excellent. My only recommendation for improvement is better lighting in the bathroom in room #1; it's a bit creepy at night and impossible to do your makeup. Maybe provide a makeup mirror with lighting.

Lovely room. Nice accommodations. Only met one staff member, but she was super nice and helpful. We even received a call a few hours before arrival telling us that we were being upgraded to the top floor penthouse at no extra charge. We only stayed on midweek night, but just a very thoughtful thing to do. I truly appreciated the upgraded and this place is a real gem. We will be back!

This was a last minute stay and ended up being our favorite hotel out of our week+ trip to the NW coast. The room was modern, huge, clean and had a great patio area right outside our sliding glass doors. The location is great and the service is friendly. We would love to experience the inn as it is meant, as a bed and breakfast, so we hope to return after Covid. The common sitting and dining areas look like great spots to hang out and make new friends with fellow travelers. Due to Covid, at check in we were given a little check sheet for what we would like for breakfast the next morning. Our selections were delivered to our room at our chosen time in neat little boxes. This was a nice touch to get morning coffee and snacks to guests while social distancing. Love this place, just wish I had taken photos!!

Beautiful. The room we stayed in was spacious, so cozy, decorated so cute! Has a balcony off the sliding glass door of the room with oceanview but there are tall trees right across the street blocking some of the view of the ocean had to walk across to watch the sunset. The floor could have been swept and dusted a little better, the bed was firm but we slept fine and woke up fine! It was a bit pricey though!

This inn is gorgeous, the rooms are beautiful and meticulously clean. It appeared to be recently updated. The staff was nice and friendly. Continental breakfast was conveniently delivered to our room in the morning. We loved our stay and look forward to staying again and hope to get the penthouse suite.

This spot is so dreamy, with ocean views. We had a great stay, good breakfast options. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I felt very comfortable and safe. The room was open and the showers were great! Thank you for such a pleasant stay.

The location of the place is nice! The rooms are big with a decent view. The breakfast was terrible. Hardly any options besides, oatmeal, yogurt, and bread. The bread had mildew all over it. When we brought that up to the manager, he apologized. Then he pulled out a new loaf and put it in with the bread that had mold on it still. Also the yogurt in the fridge was expired. Great rooms, terrible breakfast.

This quiet gem sits across from the gorgeous, deserted Montara beach. The inn is flanked by a liquor store and a deli - you can't really ask for more, but the world's best lobster roll is five minutes south, and world's best crab sandwich 5 minutes east, just in case. Spacious, modern, warm rooms have views over the water - with the penthouse providing an ultimate, 180 degree view through windows and a spacious patio perched above the tree line. Staff Dina, Miami, & Rosie took exceptional care of us. They were incredibly kind with my children, helping them gather continental breakfast every day to bring upstairs. Totally convenient indoor/outdoor roomaccess is perfect for times you might be trudging in wearing soaked, sandy wetsuits. One minor issue for us was that we're used to very soft pillows, and the Inn's were a bit hard for us. Totally minor in the scheme. Cannot over-recommend a stay here for a romantic weekend, a writer's getaway, or a single-mom-two-children-spontaneous getaway.

The room was so gorgeous, we could not believe our luck (ground floor, garden view). Very very big, high celling, nice decorated. TV didn't work however, but it didn't matter to us. Other thing is that the customer service is very unfriendly. So much 'must not' and 'have to' I have not heard or read since the ground school!!! At the reception the same thing - not really friendly or communicative. The breakfast is served in a cafe nearby (included in the room price). The lady there is very nice and shining. The quality was perfect, the amount - typical American (toast bread or bagel with coffee).

We had a fabulous stay here. It was very cozy and the staff is fantastic. She even made ice cream cupcakes for my sons Bday. The Victorian house is amazing and kept so clean. Coming back next year for sure

There were a few complications for me before check-in on my end (no wallet/cc) but they were forgiving and worked with me. Even signed for a package I needed for replacement ID & passport. They readily gave me information on the area when I asked about it.I booked the king room and it was really beautiful, spacious and plenty of room. While the interior looks a bit out dated, they were in the process of renovation. It was also very quiet, which I prefer! Their breakfast was adequate and the coffee was good.If you're looking for a place that is between everything and quiet, this is a great choice. Having stayed at another (pricier) hotel in the area, it's a great deal.*I accidentally left a few items in my room and the owners called me. They held on to it for a week before I was back in the area (I drove a large cali loop with scattered family) and had it ready when I arrived.

We were so excited with the location, how nicely the building is taken care of, and even the rooms look nice with a lot of space. I thought this might be a great space to stay again when we come back to the coast. Unfortunately... wrong. The mattress is harder than almost anything I ve ever experienced. If that was the only issue, I d still give this place three stars. When we went to get in bed, the sheets were all dirty. Lots of hair covering the whole bed, pillows, etc. No thanks. We called down to let the desk know that the bed had not been changed. The attendant promptly came up with... a single flat sheet. That s okay, right? He probably did not realize how bad it was, so we explained that the ENTIRE bed had not been changed. The attendant left and returned with a duvet and blanket as well. What next? He then handed it to my fianc! She asked if he expected her to make it. His reply was, I don t know how. In order to save this man s life, I said that I would do it and took the sheets. When I stripped the bed of the hair sheets, the mattress cover underneath had what appeared to be a large blood stain on it. Cool!I could not complete making the bed because there was no fitted sheet. I had to go downstairs to ask for one. I also had to explain what a fitted sheet was. I headed back up to finish this disaster... but I had to go back downstairs again as we were not given any pillow cases. This is the first, and hopefully only time that I ve ever had to make my own bed in a hotel. It s unfortunate, but you re better off looking elsewhere.

Well ill start this by saying i definitely wont be back if you couldn't guess. The room was decently clean although there was a dead fly in the shower, and hot/cold valve in the shower required jangling to get it to actually control the water. You could feel the springs in the mattresses when you laid down on the firmest mattress ive ever had the misfortune of sleeping on. The blinds did not rotate when you turned the wand and the fabric on the blinds were out of its slots(see pictures). There was a chandelier type thing with a couple burnt out bulbs. The closet door was hanging off its track. And the real kicker. The electricity. I watched the lights in my room and the cafe next door fluctuate every few minutes, so the lights are constantly getting brighter and dimmer. That was actually kindof scary, electrical problems like that are no joke. Oh and when all the lights are off at night, there is still a light on in the recessed ceiling that you cant turn off, that was fun trying to get to sleep with it keeping the room well enough lit to see around. Definitely got ripped off for the price i paid. I highly recommend you stay away from this place no matter how desperate you are after the last year, thats what they're counting on!
