At first, I took my car to Wayside Garage, but they charged me $350 for diagnostics, so I called my old mechanic in my home state and they told me to look for a transmission shop for my issue. That's how I found JW Transmissions. Jim was upfront with me about what to expect, and called me before doing any work on the car. I knew I could trust him and you can't buy trust with money. I had a transmission rebuilt by James and everything worked perfectly. Best price and warranty in Monterey bay. About a year later I had a small issue but he had no problem taking it in for warranty work. I had my car back on the road in about 2 days thanks to his quick service. Will definitely come back next time I need a service. 5 STAR business.

My husband and I were very impressed with their speedy repair. James has a great knowledge of transmissions which is extremely valuable due to the complexity of the part. I brought my 2005 Jeep in for multiple issues with the transmission and without even driving it he had a theory of what the problem was, and after driving it he confirmed it, repaired it, and turned out to be 100% correct. He also supplied a warranty that was conditional on my bringing the vehicle back for him to do free checkups on it. You can tell that he not only enjoys his work but he wants his customers to have a smooth and very positive experience even after the work is completed. I wouldn't hesitate referring anyone in need of transmission work to JW Transmissions.

Not to mention the fast, fun, friendly service and relaxed atmosphere, while waiting. We highly recommend him for everything. I found JW Transmissions refreshingly honest and professional. James put a new transmission in my daughters Acura MDX. A component in the AWD broke the brand new transmission so James replaced it completely at his cost. The JW transmission warranty is legit. The work done in the shop was on time and James was great about picking up the phone and keeping me informed. JW Transmissions did a great job servicing the transmission on my classic GTO. The work was top quality, completed ahead of schedule and within budget. Specialty car shops in the area would have charged nearly twice as much to hedge against the complications of working on an older transmission. I highly recommend JW Transmission and will take my other cars there for periodic transmission maintenance and repair.Service: Transmission

Honest, knowledgeable, dependable and no hidden charges.We have worried and gone through this every time when choosing a mechanic. With JW Transmissions, we don't have to worry. We'v used them 3 times for brakes, tuneup, and oil changes, and we've found a gem. It's so nice to have a mechanic who's ethics are never compromised by making a buck. We'll keep using them and are actively recommending them to our friends

Don t get your built trans done here. Had them build me a 600 hp 47re for my dodge and it would shift like a stock trans with slippage and it would overheat. Literally a waste of money and time. My old trans with just a shift kit, billet input shaft, and triple disk torque converter shifted firm and better than the one they built. Literally like having a stock trans. I then sold It and the new owner informed me 2 months later after selling it that 3rd gear was gone and this shop warranty wouldn t cover it because I wasn t the owner anymore. I asked them for the pricing and brand parts that were going into the trans and told me that he could not tell me for legal reasons.

Great service here! Courteous and friendly while still being professional! I went in for an oil change and he did a few other little things; sprayed my battery with anti rust spray, got out the majority of the debris in my vents and even topped off my wiper fluid reservoir! Of course my oil was changed too. Will definitely come again!

Just did the transmission oil change with James was fast and very professional. I think I found a gem in Marina. He has the best price in the area. Although, he specialize in transmission, he does everything else too. Thank you James!

We had our clutch fail on a holiday weekend trip up from Los Angeles. We brought it in on a Saturday and it was ready Monday evening. He took pictures along the way and identified other problems that need to be addressed. James did us a huge solid. Fixing cars, let alone transmissions, is a huge hassle, but once the car was at JW's, it was anything but. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone with transmission issues to this shop!
