This place needs to be shut down! This guy is a scammer. He failed the car the first time just because the ecu was not connecting and told me I had to drive the car for more miles, and Charged me $60 and told me to come back after putting the miles on and I went back the next day to get it reinspected and the car passed and he charged me $69 when the prices in his shop has $39.95 for re inspection. When I tried to talk to him about this issue he drove my car out of the shop and held on to the keys till I paid him. This place is a absolute Scam. STAY AWAY FROM HERE.SHUT THIS DOWN!

This place needs to be shut down. This guy is a scammer. He fails the car first and charges you the whole amount and the second time charge the whole amount again, he has prices up and doesn't honor them, he charged me full price the second time I went in. He argues and holds your keys till you oay him. This guy is a absolute scammer! STAY AWAY AND HAVE THIS PLACE SHUT DOWN ASAP.

DO NOT GO HERE, LIKE EVERYONE IS SAYING IN THE REVIEWS THIS GUY IS A NUMBER 1 SCAMMER. I WENT HERE BECAUSE THIS WAS THE ONLY PLACE OPEN ON SUNDAY, LITTLE DID I KNOW I WOULD BE GETTING A SMOG CHECK DONE BY A SCAMMER. HE INTENTIONALLY PUT MY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM AS "TEMPERED" BECAUSE I REPLACED MY OEM AIR FILTER FEW YEARS AGO. EVERYWHERE I'VE HAD NO ISSUE GETTING MY SMOG PASSED AND NEVER HAD A FAIL, I GO HERE AND HE PUTS A TAMPERED, STAY AWAY FROM HIM LIKE EVERYONE ELSE IS SAYING, RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL JUST WANTS YOUR MONEY HOPE THIS PLACE SHUTS DOWN. BTW TAMPERED IS WORSE THAN FAIL!!

Bro barely speaks English and still expects you to fork over $60 for a failing car smog by putting it on the machine without properly checking it first. He could've gone over the car and told me he couldn't smog it but decided to fail my car and charge me anyways what a crook.

The Guy working the smog is rude. He is just hoping for your car to fail so he can charge again. Instead of telling you your car needs to be run more, he did the smog just to charge me and tell me it pass but the computer didn t recognize it and needed to be run more.

$59 cash for STAR smog check.No line on Thursday at 2 pm. Friendly. No frills. Wife and I waited outside. Before we left, the Business Owner provided document showing that he sent the inspection results report electronically to DMV.

I came here by suggestion and boy that was a mistake. I changed my OEM air filter to a K&M one, not really a big deal. Rather than telling me first hey, I can t pass this, he not only charged me, but marked my smog as Tampered . If you don t know there is 3 classifications. Pass, Fail, Tampered. Tampered is worse than failed. If you get that no other smog shop will attempt to pass you. The guy started arguing with me when I tried to explain to him that. He said I ve been doing this 20 years and if you put the original air filter on anyone will pass it. He kept cutting me off when I tried to explain. The California BAR system will see a car as Tampered and if the car then goes to another smog place within 30 days and Passes will be investigated. Because the Cal BAR thinks that if a legit place marked you as Tampered, how come you went somewhere else and Passed, meaning that the new place could be illegally passing you or overlooking what ever was Tampered . Because of this smog shops don t want to deal with a car that was previously marked as Tampered. So not only did this guy marked Tampered, but he charged me $65. So, I asked if I go get the original OEM air filter and put it back on will you charge me(most places that are nice will not charge you if you bring it back fixed) and he said he will charge me again, but give me a 10% discount. $5 off. Wow. What a joke. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS UNETHICAL HOLE IN THE WALL.Service: Smog certification

I would never go to this place again. The Asian gentleman said my vehicle failed smog because an emissions repair was not completed. I went and got the repair at the dealership but afterwards he said the vehicle still failed because his machine didn't recognize the vehicle. I ended up paying over $90.00 for nothing and the owner blamed the dealership instead of owning up to his crooked business dealings.Services: Smog certification, Emissions testing

Horrible liar! Took in my vehicle and he opened the hood and shut it and said I needed a sticker for my air cleaner, charged me $60 and put in the computer that he failed it for a visual inspection. Took it around the corner and was passed in 15 minutes. Sticker was right on the hood. This guy needs to be shut down!!!

Horrible customer services! The Japanese guy working there is very rude to customers and has a big ego. He said my truck couldn t pass the smog because he couldn t see the number on the catalytic converter when I could clearly see it. He even made me go under my own truck saying that it was not there. Took it to north cal mufflers in Manteca and they saw the number the number on the catalytic converter too! After I went to another smog and my truck passed it! Horrible smog shop would never recommend going there waste of money! The horrible customer services this shop should get shut down!! Just pathetic and unprofessional!!!

This owner is dishonest. Went for smog. Check engine light on. (I know, I should have fixed it first) instead of telling me it would fail when he started engine and saw the light on he ran the test. Charged me $50+ on a car he knew would fail. Wants to charge another $40+ to retest.Service: Smog certificationService: Smog certification

Such rude guy. He charged me twice. They first said they would not charge if it failed but when it did which was a mistake on their end, they charged me and when I said that I paid once already I am not paying twice, he locked my car and would not give me my keys. He then approaches me like he wants to fight me and tries to get loud and rude. This place robs you of your money. They fail you on purpose and double charge you. Worst place in manteca. I would rather pay more elsewhere than to get treated the way he treats his customers. He had no feelings or emotions what so ever. It s money and then dirty looks and yelling. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Please go to other smog shops in manteca. These types of businesses where the owner has no common sense and is robbing his clients is unwanted in our city of manteca. I don t care you have been in business for so long. It s horrible business. There are tons of bad reviews about this place doing the same thing to everyone.

Very unprofessional and rude with customers.My car failed smog the first time and he recommended me to a smog and repair shop. When I got repairs done at the shop and returned for smog retest, he then started complaining that I went to the wrong repair shop! Overall, not a good smog shop to go to. IN SHAPE SMOG SHOP is the worst in the area. Please don't waste your time there.

Awful place to go to. The 5 star reviews were obviously self made just read them haha. I pulled up explained my current situation of my check engine light being on and that I just changed the part if he could clear the code before he ran the test. He takes my keys runs the test and tells me he didnt see the check engine light before, literally seconds after explaining to him that my check engine was on. I will definitely not go back there once i just clear my computer...He will definitely tell you what you want to hear just to get the test ran and then you pay or else lol. If i could give 0 stars I would. This man does not deserve a business and needs to learn that customers have character and values, unlike him.

Worst place to go waste of time. Prices are never the same as stated on the phone... guy said $40 dollars for the smog and he tried to take possession of the car and asked $59 dollars you can not trust this shop. He does alot of illegal work! Do not go here

I was in and out with no hassle, and it was reasonably priced compared to other smog technicians around the valley. Also, if you have a check engine light on, after repairing you have to wait for the car to run through its cycle and dismiss the code on its own. You can not just turn it off because it will show it on the OBD reader when going in for a smog check. I tried to reset the code before a smog test and it showed up. Jst FYI

The owner is a liar, clearly marked 49.99, but he charged 59.99, because I was really careless, did not see that he wrote a different amount in the receipt, so I accept, when I was about to leave, this savage scolded me in his native Korean, it was sucks NEVER TRY HERE

Little pricier than other places with coupons but I was able to drive up and get my car smogged right away. That convenience was worth the $$$.

The technician was respectful, and knowledgable. He didn't take advantage nor rip me off due to being a woman, The business hours are exceptional from Monday through Sunday. His location has been around for a long time and has not changed owners nor business name therefore, reliable to bring up previous records if needed. The location right after TruckS Max USA. but, kind of hidden, so look for the a small drive way with the IN Shape Smog Check sign. then, follow the pathway take a small right middle isle business is on the right with the IN Shape Smog Check sign. I hope you have a great experience too!

Open 7 days a week which is a huge help. Considering work Mon-Fri and sometimes Saturdays. Once I arrived he was filling out the paperwork and told me be done in 10-15 minutes. He had me out of there in 10 minutes. Kung doesn't mess around gets the job done and has you on your way.

Awesome service! Very knowledgeable owner. Been here the longest for 15 years. Still have all records till date. Others may come and go but if you want consistency and reputation then Inshape is the smog to go!

Went in for a smog test HORRIBLE IDEA guy came off super rude and telling me my truck idled too high at 500 but didn t tell me what my emissions were got scammed got 60 dollars
