This is a great campground for tent camping. It is pretty busy, but they are good at keeping quiet hours and the no dogs policy is a plus to keep it peaceful. Most of the sites get a lot of shade, the store is very well equipped with nice essentials, and there are lots of rafting options. We chose to go with WET and had a good time. Plus, the showers are nice and warm! We spread out a group of 20 through three sites.

This is a beautiful couple of acres along the south fork of the American river . You can visit for the day or use their many camping options for longer stays. The owners and staff are great people who care about the environment and their guest's experience. There are several rafting companies here that will take you out on the river for a fun trip. This is also a great place to just slow down and enjoy nature. It 8s a good location for birding too.

I love the location, and the amenities are great. We returned here the second summer in a row for camping and rafting. Unfortunately, this time one of the female staff harassed me. The campsite has narrow dirt roads, and cars usually yield to each other to get around. However, the female staff parked her pickup truck, partially blocking the road while talking to another car s driver, who just parked and blocked the rest of the road. After being reminded about the blocking/chatting situation, the female staff confronted me, told me that I was rude, and asked why I was being rude. Her behavior was unbelievable and unprofessional, and genuinely RUDE. The world is changing, and nowadays, some people can just do whatever they think is right as long as it s convenient for them.

This is the most beautiful place to camp ever! Grassy sites right on the river. Lots of space for the kids to run around too.

Great campground! Beautiful river access, wonderful hosts, perfect atmosphere whether with friends or family. The office has all the supplies you'll need and the town isn't too far away for other food & supplies. Only thing that would make it better is if dogs were allowed. Still, loved this place! Their sticker made it on my Thule!

Camp Lotus is exceptional! I must say, this was the best tent camping site in my last 14 years of camping. Although google search for Sacramento local camping would not yield this site, we found it by chance. We stayed (tent camping) here for two days over last week at site L, which is a group site. All the sites have grass and not dusty, proximity to clean restrooms/hot-showers and water spouts makes them great. Almost all sites were booked proving that the place is quite popular. They also hold private events. There is river access within few minutes and grounds are kept clean. The staff are courteous. If their site could provide site level photos/amenities list plus ability to book within their site without having to call would make it easier for customers, but nevertheless, highly rated place. There were couple of negative reviews on TripAdvisor, mainly during rafting season that campers were noisy but since our stay was off season, we did not have this problem.

Lovely rustic old school campground on the South fork of the American River. The office has great food offerings and the staff are super reasonable. The bathrooms and clean & the showers have decent flow. This is a good place for a picnic get away.

Lovely rustic old school campground on the South fork of the American River. Frequented by rafters, standing wave surfers, kiddos with floaty rings and their parents. The office has great food offerings and the staff are super reasonable. The bathrooms and clean & the showers have decent flow.

It's a beautiful camping ground. It's very family friendly. The grounds are beautiful and and spacious. The showers are clean. And you only have to go five minutes down the road to enjoy some remarkable river rafting down the American River.

Camp Lotus is a family friendly wonderful privately run campground on the American River. We actually had our wedding reception here 8 years ago and have been coming back for school and family trips (3 kids later!) for many years and the kids love running around in the grass, swimming, playing volleyball, and exploring the nature trails. Their pricing and service for weddings cannot be beat, and the location is gorgeous. We have stayed in the teepee and the lodging as well when our kids were smaller and both are unique, very clean, and comfortable. The muffins and sandwiches at the store are unexpectedly DELICIOUS and the prices for local beer, wine, clothes, etc there are great. It definitely gets crowded on the weekends in the summer but I have never been to a campground that doesn't! If you really want a peaceful few nights away from it all come during the week, in May or September, or stay in the lodging. If you want great river fun and lots of outdoor time with others to enjoy it with then come any time! The campsites are grassy and give you your own space - especially the tent sites. The RV sites with electrical, which you can also pitch tents in, are a little more open. The staff is very helpful when you call and want to figure out the right spot! We always come back to SF from Camp Lotus tan, tired, and happy.

Went rafting with RIVER RUNNERS. All was great. Good guides, 100% dialed in and organized from start to finish. Location for put in and take out is great. I live in the area so did NOT camp, but it looks like it would be nice.

THE BEST for family and beauty nature fun right in your backyard. Convenient store, hot water bathrooms, showers, and friendly staff, very organized in cleaning the camp and enforcing the quiet time. Great for starter kids and first time campers. The river is quiet manageable for little kids to enjoy the nature and make a good memory. The camp sites are pretty large and easily accommodate more than 2-3 tents in a one camp site. No metal ring fire pit though. The fire pits are low spot in the ground with bordered with rocks. Firewood are available at their store and also could be collected throughout the camp site patiently.

We stayed here for two nights as part of a Scout group. We were taking a rafting tour that ended at the campground. Convenience alone made this a great place to camp. When we checked in, the lady at the office couldn't possibly have been more friendly. She gave great directions to our site and didn't mind that our group had become separated and would be checking in over the course of the next 45 minutes. The sites were large enough to accommodate our group of 30. There was shade off and on throughout the afternoon and morning. It was nice to be right on the river to allow the Scouts to swim. There were hot showers available. The men's side (not sure about the women's) was military style where there are 8 shower heads in one room so if you are the shy type, plan accordingly.

This duck made the whole camping trip for me. Little water dog followed my family around for a couple days, returning for snacks that he'd eat right out of your hand.Domesticated by the civility of the common person who camps here. No trash, clean bathrooms, nice staff, and a calm sense of life in this place. Nothing complicated or too fat away, life takes a break here.

I've camped here many times over the past years and can't say enough good things about it. For me their location directly along the river makes it perfect for rafting, kayaking and swimming. Large bathrooms, free HOT showers, tiny libraries, and a small store for any essentials you've forgotten. Campsites vary in size. They'll help you find what your group needs.

Host family were so gracious & accommodating. Super clean camp grounds , beautiful location. Only downside is noise from hwy overpass (completely out of the control of host so didn't take away any stars) loved being here , great tent cabins . Will absolutely return!

I volunteer with a group who organizes whitewater rafting trips for people in underserved populations in need of healing time in nature. Camp Lotus is our home away from home and we couldn't ask for a better base camp. The staff is always super friendly and accommodating of our varying needs and wonderfully chaotic group adventures, and the location along the amazing American River is top notch. Good solid facilities, always peaceful, well stocked camp store, and more stars at night than any of us ever get to see living in the Bay Area. I wish they allowed dogs, but I understand they are doing what they can to protect a vulnerable ecosystem. I've never had anything less than an absolutely stellar time at Camp Lotus!

Camp lotus is a beautiful place to spend a weekend alongside the South Fork of the American River. Campsites are nice, cabins range from simple to very nice. Campers have access to showers and regular restrooms as well as a cute little store that also serves up fresh muffins, coffee, and sandwiches. It s an excellent place to launch a rafting trip for the lower half of the south fork, or take out from rafting the upper half from chili bar.
