These guys are the greatest!I writing this review after my second time taking my Corvette to them. I usually do all the work myself, but I didn't want to work on it during my vacation. I needed the Harmonic Balancer, Water Pump, Thermostat, and Oil Pressure Sending unit replaced. I had already bought the parts and just wanted them to do the labor. Scott explained to me that some of this is not what they usually do, but explained what he thought needed to be done, and that he would contact me if there were any concerns, or even if they couldn't do it. I told him I may not have all the required parts to do the job and to go ahead and get whatever you need. Not only did he contact me when he needed to order some gaskets (again, he didn't have to do that), but they ended up having to do a little bit more work due to a broken coolant drain plug...yet didn't charge me anymore than what he quoted me in labor (and the cost of the parts was very reasonable!).Outstanding work, fast, honest, and they go the extra mile! This will be the only place I ever bring my corvette to!Oh, and they actually cleaned all the residual oil off my engine/torque tube area that had leaked all over due to the oil pressure sender leaking!Thanks Scott!!!Photo of Major Muffler BMW - Los Angeles, CA, United States

This company is a family business that has operated since 1929, and John, the grandson is now there. The entire staff are all very friendly, honest and compassionate---and excellent at their work. I made an appointment and got an entire exhaust system repair on my Toyota and they did it while I waited. The price was reasonable and the work was efficient and quick. I highly recommend them to everyone!Service: Exhaust

Went in to these guys for the first time. I have a 2017 Prius V which had a new catalytic converter, after being stolen. I had an anti theft cage installed at the same time. All this work was done at another location in Los Angeles,. Since the repairs, my Prius just didn't sound the same and I was getting a little rattling sound(I assume from the anti theft cage). Took it to these guy. They found some previous mistakes from the previous mechanic and fixed it within less than 10 min. A super generous repair fee was offered. My Prius sounds amazing, LIKE NEW, VERY QUIET, YES!!!!!!!!! Great friendly staff, low stress environment. I hightly recommnend this place. Should have just taken my Prius here from the beginning. These guys have worked on my cars for years. They have always been very straight with me about what is needed and charge fair prices. As an example, I had to take one of my cars back to the dealer for a warranty service and while there for the warranty service, the dealer told me I needed new brake pads, claiming that they had measured them and they 4mm. When I next took the car to Baizer (Major Muffler) I asked them to check the pad thickness. They measured and told me that the pads were 7-8mm and were fine. Probably saved me a few hundred dollars from an unnecessary replacement.They are very busy, they don't have a giant facility or tons of people running around so they don't need to do unnecessary repairs to make their money. Can not say enough about the great service I received at Major Muffler. Took my car in at 7 AM and it was ready for pick-up by 3 PM! Scott is a friendly and honest guy. AND, he repaired my car for LESS than what he originally quoted me! Will definitely come back for service in the future. My family's vehicles have been serviced by Scott and his family since 1955 until 2021 when my family left California for good. I say that 66 years of good service speaks for itself. Never had a bad repair from them.

I really don't trust mechanics. At all. And I do most of the work my car needs myself. I needed to take care of a job that was to big for me to do on my own and I got recommended to come here from my body shop that I have a good relationship with. They did a great job and actually charged me less than the estimate because they got done faster, so they didn't charge me for labor I didn't use. I brought my car back for second issue and they spent an hour diagnosing my car and recommended a different mechanic as they couldn't fix the issue. This is an honest team that does good work. I trust one mechanic now.

These guys have been here for a long time. Not just the owners, but the mechanics also. In a span of 13yrs I've dealt with these guys now only 2 times. The first time was good experience and this last was also just as good. It says a lot for me that they have stayed in business and that they still have long time employees. I didn't feel like they were trying to sell me anything more than I needed and were very honest about the whole process. I didn't feel like they were trying to take advantage of me. If you want to continue reading... My actual experience is below.I came here in 2005 to fix my catalytic converter on my 1999 Audi A4. The guys were straight up and honest about the process and they did a good job. I moved away for many years(totally forgetting about this place) and moved back to SM recently. My latest (May 2018) issue was just and exhaust tip that came loose on my mother-in-laws Lexus. I looked up muffler shops and this place came up. They got me in and out fairly quickly and then I realized these were the same guys that did my cat 13 years ago. I didn't realize they also do maintenance so I will be taking my cars here for other needs as they come up. I hope this helps you decide.

Extremely helpful. As soon as my girlfriend and I pulled in a mechanic went right under the hood and explained to us what he thought might be wrong with her car, listing pricing options right away so we knew what we were getting into. Sincerely o already knew a little of what was wrong, I was impressed at how quickly he came to the same conclusions and listed several relatively inexpensive ways we could go about fixing them. I was very impressed with this place. They have a lot of integrity.

Very good business. Called and was able to bring my car in within 30 minutes.. Job was completed in 1 hour. Quoted price 125 for new muffler. Actual price 125. Looks good and sounds better. Will update if anything changes, but I would come back or refer friends.

I'm surprised that I haven't written a review yet! "As good as it gets" definitely applies here.When my radiator in my (gently) aging Toyota had a problem, John and his crew did an excellent job fixing it. When my A/C finally went out, John quickly identified problems in the compressor and condenser and fixed both of them on the same day. Even for routine oil changes, he and his crew always go above and beyond to make sure that the car is in excellent shape when it's returned.

Once again, a class job from Major Muffler. John and Scott know how to take care of you. I had office work to do, and they made it easy for me to so, letting me hang out in their office area (thanks for the wifi passcode, too!).They had my tune-up and all the work done within the hour. When I got the car back, all was working wonderfully. My car is a pleasure to drive again.Anyway, I like these guys. They make it a decent experience to get your car fixed, and they fix it well, and with dedication. I know I'm getting the best attention to all the details, they don't skimp on anything or rush it. This is the way every business should run.

I cannot say enough great things about these guys. I went to them on a friday since my rear tail light was not working. They were full and completely booked. I told them I was going on a roadtrip and he looked at the issue and said it would take him 10 minutes to fix it and did it immediately. At the end he did not even charge me for changing the taillight!!! I am sure a stealership would have figured out some way to charge me and exorbitant rate for the bulb and then their hourly rate. I can see why they have so many great reviews on yelp! I will be definitely taking my cars to them for any/all issues

Referred to Scott by a Co-worker. Ladies, he's one of the few honest mechanics around. He looked at the dealer recommendation (up sales) and told me the truth. My car runs like new again. Friendly staff and willing to accommodate a same day drop off even if they were fully booked. My exhasut bolts at the catalytic broke off due to too much tension, they made suggestions on repairs, i agreed, and i was back on the road within a couple of hours. Will definitely look to them for future repairs.

I can't say enough good things about Major Muffler and especially Scott!! Several years ago I had to have my catalytic converter replaced in my Honda. Their price was significantly lower than the dealer even with using OEM parts! So when my catalytic converter was stolen, I immediately thought of Major Muffler. To say they are wonderful is an understatement. It is without reservation of any kind that I recommend them!!!

Wow, what a great find Major Muffler turned out to be! Someone unsuccessfully attemped to cut off the exhaust pipe of my sister's 2000 Honda CRV in order to steal the catalytic converter. When I called for help, Dolly was helpful as ever. The exhaust pipe was welded in the time it took to walk down the block to enjoy a bite at Cafe 50's: prompt, efficient and affordable. Disappointed to hear about the unprofessionalism of this place. I was initially recommended to come here to have my cat back exhaust systemInstalled on my 2017 wrx but after hearing about how terrible of an experience my friend had here, curbing his expensive rims (SEE PHOTOS) and denying responsibility, I will be staying CLEAR of this place. The last thing I would want would someone, especially the owner, ruining something on my car that I care a great deal for and then, get stuck with the bill. Stay warned, be warned. Stay away.

John is an honest mechanic. That should be all ya need to know. He will do his best to minimize the expense and inconvenience to you as a customer. He will attempt to fix something before replacing it, and is patient about explaining issues to you. A+

Good place to have your car repaired where the guys there are honest and friendly, but make sure to make an appointment before coming to have your car repaired as they really get busy which shows how good they are.
