The name Legit Auto speaks for itself. I don't take my cars anywhere else but this place. I have been a customer of theirs for over 10+ years. Gary has always taken cared of my car needs. They provide honest services which I never feel I was getting ripped off. On so many occasions they would tell me I don't need to fix it, as it's not necessary. Whereas other shops would take my money and insist on getting repairs not needed. Gary is the owner and he sets the tone for the everyone else. Greg, Marco and everyone there treat customers with the utmost respect AND they always give the best deal. I never get my car fixed without getting estimates from more than one place. Legit always wins and their work is always solid.

Couple of things:1. I almost never write reviews. Not because I'm some review elitist or something - I'm just a normal guy that's busy like everyone else. However, sometimes I have an experience that just warrants one.2. I meant to write this review about 3 months ago right after I went to Legit Automotive, but life got in the way and I kept pushing it off.However, the reason both of those points matter, are because it just goes to show that my experience with Legit Automotive was so positive, that I actually sat down to write a review and it was still on my mind to do so months later.So here's the story -Problem: Sputtering sound when my car was startingInitially, I went down the street to a different shop, left them my car for a few hours, and when I returned, they told me that they couldn't figure out the problem as it wasn't happening for them, but the car could either be fine or have a major issue (kind of a big disparity there). I even showed them a video I had taken the day prior of the issue happening, and they still weren't able to help (this shop had otherwise been solid for me in the past, so I was surprised that they couldn't handle it). They then recommended that I go down the street to Legit Automotive to see if they could diagnose the problem.I drove up to Legit Automotive and was immediately greeted and directed to the front office (no awkward looking around of where to go / who to talk to, etc). I told the gentleman the issue I was having and told them I had a video. I showed them the video, and they INSTANTLY told me what the problem was. The owner also came over, introduced himself, was incredibly friendly, also listened to the video, and had the immediate same conclusion as the first guy.After that, the entire process was seamless and handled very professionally. I left my car for them to fix, and they communicated with me every step of the way before doing anything / confirming price, etc. They even found another safety issue with my car that I was aware of (but didn't know the extent of how dangerous), that they offered to do a temporary fix for free so I could avoid a much bigger problem until I was able to fully fix it later (it required body work, which they don't do).This is a family run business and it feels like it. It's very professionally run, with great communication, fair prices, and and overall comfortable experience, which is key for someone like me that doesn't know much of anything about cars.Final Rating: 5/5 (would recommend to anyone, including my grandma)Service: Battery

I left 5 stars because I don't know what I would deduct for. I've been bringing my car to Legit for a couple of years now and it is always a great experience. After mistakes with other mechanics in L.A. that, without exaggeration, cost me thousands of extra dollars in avoidable problems, I'm grateful to know about Legit, and I come from DTLA to bring my car to them every time. The only other mechanic I use is in a neighboring state near family members of mine.Greg and Gary are a great team. As the face of the company, Greg is warm, courteous, and always professional. He gets to know his regular customers on a first-name basis. As the expert, Gary is direct and no-nonsense in the best way. He believes in doing good work, fairly. I cross-reference prices, and while Legit's may not always be the absolute lowest in town, they're always reasonable, and usually beat out the competition.I have a vintage, high-mileage 4x4 that I regularly take into the mountains and desert. It recently reached an age where lots of little things have been going wrong, and Legit have been a blessing for me. They insist on using OEM parts whenever possible, and they're usually able to source those at competitive prices. Over the course of the work that I've had done at Legit, they've actually been slowly correcting things that were done wrong (and have thus failed) by previous mechanics.I went for a smog check today, and the technician there complimented me on how well I take care of the car. When I asked him how he could tell, he said it's because everything is clearly well-maintained, all parts are OEM, and the work is all done right. This was the smog guy! I told him it's because I have a great mechanic.I'm leaving this review today because Legit just came through for me again, resolving a particular dash light issue that arose separately during a recent repair, even though it wasn't their fault or obligation, and with no extra charge. The first time I brought my car to them, I didn't realize I would need to leave it there longer, and Gary took time out to drive me in his own car to the nearest Metro station. Now I bring my bike so I can get home and back on my own, but I'll never forget that kindness that few other mechanics in this town would show.Legit won't do every kind of job, which I think is a good sign, whether because of things they don't like to do, or simply aren't as good at. Any time I've brought them something they won't take on, they've given me a reliable referral.No one is perfect, everyone makes mistakes, and sooner or later someone will have a bad experience here for whatever unfortunate reason. But I got lucky to be referred to Legit by a technician at Valvoline during a routine oil change, and I would encourage anyone in L.A. looking for a fair, reliable mechanic who does good, lasting work in a family-style business where the employees all look happy at their job to stop by Legit and give them a try.

Legit Auto supplies the best car service I ve ever come across! Whenever I have car trouble, I never worry about being ripped off by mechanics because I know that Gary and Greg will provide the best prices out there for the service. Their services are always completed in a timely manner. When picking up my car, they even educate me on what happened, and ways to care for my car to prevent future damage. If you are in the SoCal area and you need anything regarding auto repair (oil change, tires, something happened to your car) - these guys are THE BEST. They explain everything super thoroughly, their prices are the lowest (they also don t tell you to get things done that you don t need to!), they are super friendly! I ve been going to them for years and they are consistently the best. I feel like auto repair shops can sometimes prey on women/people who look like they may not know a ton about cars - and these guys make sure you understand what they are doing and why. Can t recommend them enough!

These guys are THE BEST! They re knowledgeable, do a thorough job while NOT saying they need to do services that aren t needed (like too many shops do). They re friendly and nice and get the job done swiftly at a good price. Two individuals at this place treated me poorly, for no reason. Both were extremely rude and one was critical, with the other being condescending. Both for no reason.After I stood up for myself, one of the two was helpful when I asked him a question.I am a transgender woman.

Nothing but good things to say about this place! I took my 2013 VW Passat in for some much needed repairs. Greg and his team were incredible and were up front and honest about everything, communicating with me every step of the way. Before they pulled the trigger on anything, they checked in with me first. On top of all that, they were super friendly and I felt very taken care of throughout the entire process. Also, considering all the work I needed done, I was shocked by how quickly the turnaround was. If you need work done on your car, you can trust these guys 100% - they ve made me a forever customer

Greg and his team did a awesome job on my car. They are very professional and pure quality at their service. I took my car for brake replacement and they found a different issue and fixed it at no extra charge. They are fair with their prices. Just the most awesome people to meet. Aloha to all who are taking time to read reviews about places...1. Sorry I am ugly. 2. My name is Callahan Welsh, and this is my experience with Legit Automotive....They are LEGIT!!....Greg and Gary helped me out with professionally servicing my brake pads and rotars.They were also very patient with me to get my finances together inorder to pay them for their hard professional work.I'm very thankful I was referred to them by another company. I know in a world of people lieing, it's always nice to have honest hardworking companies take pride in what they do.Although thus is Los Angeles, and there are a lot of scammers out there, Legit Automotive is legit.I am pleased with their service and I will kindly inform my friend's if they are ever in need of a mechanic, to go see Greg and Gary at this shop.Please do NOT take advantage of their kindness and coolness. Again, these guys pride themselves in what they do, because they love what they do. My family has been coming here for years from a simple oil change to big repairs for our cars. Gary runs his shop efficiently, gives a fair price and makes sure the work is done right. All his mechanics are great. Eventhough we've moved recently to the San Fernando Valley, we will still come here because there's no other car shop we trust to do repairs right.

I've been taking my cars to Legit automotive for years.I would highly recommend bringing your vehicles to this shop. Their communication is outstanding. The prices are fair and they don't try to upsell you on things. Once they look at your car they'll tell you what it needs to be fixed and what you might want to keep an eye out for. But won't push you to get it done until you want to do it. An example of that would be say you come in for an oil change and ask them about the brakes. They'll take a look at the brakes and tell you if you need to do them now or if they can wait till next oil change. But won't immediately tell you to change your brakes.That's just something that doesn't seem to happen when you take a car to a dealership for a repair. I've been to one where they just sell you "oil change packages", that's a scam for sure. Avoid all that noise and bring your car to a proper repair shop.I'm so glad I found legit automotive. It feels like you can trust them with your car.

I ve been going to Legit auto for many years and have always been completely satisfied on every level.They have made miracles happen with two Porches, and always charge WAY less than the dealership.Gary, Legit s owner, is completely honest and is consistently efficient from start to finish.Nothing but dependable follow through and astute professionalism across the boards.Legit Auto truly lives up to it s name...Highly recommend !

Plain and simple, Gary is the man. He is extremely knowledgeable and most of all HONEST. This is something that is not so easy to find, especially in LA. Some shops will hang you out to dry. I will be taking every car I ever have to this shop for as long as I live in LA. This was the second time I'd taken my car to Legit Automotive. The first time, they fixed an existing problem and made me aware of something else they found, which "I would need to fix sooner or later if I was going to keep the car". Well, about six months went by, and sure enough that time eventually came. It was an involved and complicated repair. When I showed up to get the car, Gary had saved the parts to show me exactly what they did, the components that had gone bad, and how they replaced it, and additional problems they found that needed to be fixed as they related to the existing repair/issue. They were fully transparent about parts and labor, and the price for the job was very fair based upon what I was quoted by other mechanics. Also, the interior of my car was clean when I picked it up despite being worked on for many hours. Would highly recommend for everything from oil changes, to complicated diagnostic jobs where you need to be confident that you are getting the correct information and making the right decision to invest in the repair.Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Engine repair, Oil change

Today as my first visit, but definitely not last, to Legit Automotive. My 2007 VW Passat was misfiring, and I had it towed to Legit Auto after reading their reviews here on Google. I have to say, they live up to their reputation.I dropped my car off, and got a call within an hour with a diagnosis of the issue and an estimate for the cost. They price was great, very reasonable. I gave him the go ahead, and within a few more hours, my car was done. I couldn't pick it up during their normal business hours, so we arranged for me to grab it at night. I dealt with a man name Gary throughout the entire day, and he was great. He described exactly what was wrong, how much the parts and labor would cost, and was kind as well.I highly recommend these guys! I'll definitely be back.

Gary and team are absolutely HONEST. They will no fool you with any wrong information. I give all my cars to them all the time. Infact I am so dependent on them that I don't let any other mechanic touch my car. Friendly, Honest and very helpful team. Me and all my friends trust him and approach him for all car services. Absolutely recommended.

I was in need of a new mechanic, and there were so many good reviews for Legit Automotive. So I thought I would give them a try. I was truely impressed. Gary and his crew took care of me. They were friendly, fast and efficient. They laid out a plan for my 09 Hyundia Elantra. Oil change, front brakes, and even went the extra mile to help me with an issue I had with my bumper.All for a great price. Finally a mechanic that isn't out to price gauge and knows what they're doing. The customer behind me was only too happy to recommend them and was giving them her return business. I can see why.I will defenately be seeing Gary and his crew at Legit Auto for my future car needs. New mechanic found. I would also recommend them. Just call ahead they are a smaller shop and seem busy.

Legit lives up to the name. I went in to get an estimate on repairs for my 2006 VW Beetle Convertible. I met with Gary and he was extremely nice and honest. After giving him the low-down on my situation and the car's condition he advised me not to get an estimate and to instead trade my car in for a new one. I was blown away by how honest he was! So much so that I'll be taking my new car in to him when I need a fix up and recommending this place to all my friends. Honesty goes a long way!

If you're looking for a trustworthy spot this is the place. Was having severe trust issues with another LA mechanic and decided to take here for a 2nd opinion. Gary was patient and very thorough when walking me through everything wrong with the car. Highly recommend!

I took my 2000 VW Jetta to have a variety of services performed on it. From premium oil changes, new brake pads (and extras) and A/C repair, Gary took care of all my problems and was the most reasonably priced quote that I received from several mechanics.Now I have an 1988 Honda accord and plan on taking it there for all of my needs. Listen to the others, Legit auto is pretty great.-B

I have an 07 Audi A4 and a 2003 Subaru WRX. I always bring my cars to Gary when the job is too big or I don't have time to do it. They just installed a brand new clutch in my WRX. Turn around was super quick. He told me he would have it on Monday and guess what? It was done on Monday. The car is running great. They didn't leave a mess in my car. I have also had oil changes done on the Audi and will be coming back to get an alignment when I buy new tires for the car next week. Great shop.
