Took a look at all the other reviews for Gilbert and I could not agree more. Gilbert is the only person that touches my families cars when repairs are needed.Unfortunately, the mechanic who I trusted and used to keep my car running passed away. As a result, I took to Yelp to seek out someone that could take his place. Based on the reviews for Gilbert, I brought my car into his shop to test it out -- this was years ago when his shop was in Culver City. I have been a loyal customer since then.Gilbert is very knowledgeable, detail oriented and personable which are all wonderful traits for a mechanic to have. He works hard to figure out the issue with your car and then provides you with a detailed explanation of what it will take to repair it. The work he performs is also top notch and at a very fair price.If you are looking for a trustworthy mechanic that provides great service, look no further than Gilbert. He is now in a smaller shop on a corner that you can easily miss if you are not looking carefully. These 5-star reviews are all correct. Gilbert explains everything, tells me what my car needs, what it doesn't need, and is even tracking down a part for me that no one has. The best.

Gilbert is going to be my mechanic until he retires! He s excellent at both identifying issues with your car as well as walking you through what needs to be fixed (and not condescendingly, as I ve experienced with mechanics elsewhere). Gilbert is kind and reliable, returns calls and has great turnaround times. Plus, his prices are better than most in the area.

Although Gilbert's is hard pressed for space, he and his team provide excellent service and work, with rates far below dealership rates. Gilbert is extremely knowledgeable about the industry and he and his team combine for over 75 years of experience. My 15 years with them has been a very good ride!

I been going here for many years. Gilbert is a honest guy and does great repairs. He won t rip you off or try to fix stuff that doesn t need to be. He is very honorable.

Gil is an awesome dude, I moved to the area a year ago I've taken 3 of my cars there for various things, he is super honest, and doesnt try any of that funny stuff other guys do. Great mechanic and a cool guy to talk to! I forward all my friends to him!

I was vacationing 6 hours away from home. The day i was returning home i notice all my lights were coming out, ABS, VAS, power steering, brakes, battery. It freaked me out. I was so scared i had to pull off to the gas station and turn off my car. Once i turned it off my car wouldn't start anymore. I had called a tow truck and he referred me to gilbert. Gilbert was so good with us. It was just us girls and we were so scared. Gilbert made us feel so much better. I told him what was going on with my car and without looking at it he knew it was my alternator and he was surely correct. He told us it was going to be a quick and easy fix. He was great at communicating with us and very friendly. He only took a little over an hour to fix. He even check my oil and water and made sure we had a safe trip back home. I can't thank him enough! If i could give him more than 5 stars i would!

I was recommended to take my car to Gilbert when my car had a sudden brake issue. His shop was close by so I chugged my way there. I was very satisfied with the work he and his crew did to my old Honda. Furthermore, I wasn't expecting how generous he was with his time to explain what was going on and answering all sorts of car questions I had. I went back with another problem a few months later, and again, he did a great job for a price less than other shops around Culver City. I'm very happy with Gilbert! Highly recommended!

went to california for a trip to the beach with my kids. unfortunately i had an issue with a leak in my car relating to my coolant! i was pretty much stranded, but was referred by the tow truck employee. gilbert was wonderful in helping me get my car taken care of, and also helped me with a discount as this was unexpected and im not a local. i would DEFINITELY recommend his services and would go back as a return customer if i was in the area again. 5 stars!!!

Gilbert is solid! He's an honest, straightforward guy and he doesn't overcharge. He gets you fixed up quickly and back on the road. I refer him anyone who is having auto issues and he handles them all! It's hard to find a great mechanic but not if you have Gilbert helping you out!

I have been using Gilbert's services for over 15 years. He and his crew are honest and helpful. I always trust things will be done correctly.Today, April 2nd, I went by the shop and that whole corner of auto shops was locked up and most moved out with new addresses. It guess the property was sold. No referral of how to reach Gilbert or where and if he will have his shop anywhere else in the area.If you see this Gilbert... please let your loyal customers know about your future whereabouts. Now I have no clue where to take my Mazda. :-(Marie T

I have been a customer here over 13 years 2 cars and the change of business from Slicks to Gilbert's auto repair. I can say without hesitation Gilbert is a top notch mechanic and honest and fair. He never overcharges and always gives me options on any repairs. My daughters are also customers here because I've recommended them.

The first time Gil helped me he fixed my alternator! Fast, and efficient! I knew no one out here, and by his reviews picked him!This time, my car was in an accident, was taken to another shop that was trying to rip me off; Gil went and got my car, took care of everything, then repaired my car in practically one day!Gil truly cares about his customers, fairly priced, and very efficient and trustworthy!I won t go to anyone else! Neither should you!

Gil is the kindest and most straightforward mechanic I have ever met. My tire light kept going on, so he ran a quick diagnostic and spent hours searching for a leak. He found a miniscule leak, but it was too small to fix, so he reassured me and did not charge me a cent. My partner's check engine light went on as he was taking me to get my car, and Gil checked his car for free, too. He also gave us two bottles of cold water on a hot day. Cannot recommend enough!Services: Tires, Auto engine diagnostic

Can't give these guys enough stars. I tend to work on my own vehicles as I've had such bad experiences with mechanics in the past. If I had found these guys before I left LA, I would have delegated everything to them. They do quality work, care about the outcome and Gilbert is an excellent communicator.Wherever the situation you find yourself in, Gilbert's Auto Repair will ensure your get the best outcome.My advice, pay attention, understand the basics of what's being done and don't cut corners. Invest in your vehicle and have these guys do your regularly scheduled maintenance.Personal note to Gilbert: I've been pulling a 2500lb trailer and fully loaded bed at altitude through the desert... That temperature gauge hasn't budged a micrometer. Truck is running perfect. Thanks for the peace of mind. -Camilo

Gilbert's Auto Repair is the absolute best! There is no one I trust more with my car than him and his guys! He is extremely knowledgeable, honest, reasonable and quick ... I highly recommend his shop!

Good as gold; Gilbert is the best at analyzing a mechanical problem and repairing it until it is done perfectly. Can't say enough good things about him and his work. I was referred here and have referred four more people who also think he is the best.

Can't say enough great things about this mechanic. Honest, trustworthy, professional, and friendly. It's one thing to take your car to a mechanic but it's another to recommend people to go to one. I recommend Gilberts Auto Repair to everyone.

Just found out, he is moving after Thanksgiving to a new location on Venice Blvd. Not far from his current location.Will try again for a oil change.
