I ve been taking my BMW to Checkpoint Automotive since 2017 for oil changes and minor issues. When got a check engine light and exhaust was smoking, I brought the car again, since they claim to be experts, that is one of the biggest regrets. I was informed that the issue is related to a gasket, oil is leaking, failed leaking turbo line, valve cover and so on. A few days later the car was picked up, I was under the impression that it s is repaired, since the Checkpoint Automotive staff said it s good to go. The bill was over 2 thousand dollars, all paid for. As soon as the car was parked at home on the drive way, we noticed that the exhaust is smoking again. We realized that the issue was not resolved. After the weekend we took the car again Checkpoint Automotive and argued with them that the car is in the same condition, the oil light came on, that the oil is low, the engine oil had leaked out. At that point they admitted that they had diagnosed the problem incorrectly the first time around and at this point it s something else. We requested that either the car gets fixed or we get our money back since the problem was not addressed and the car needs repair. I was advised to sell the car and get a new car, and was informed that they can not refund me the money or, do any partial refund because all the parts and the labor cost money. I understand that but it s not my problem the staff is incompetent in their line of work and diagnosed the car wrongfully. Any business I go to, if the service is not delivered, the product is not what is described to be, or an issue not resolved nobody would be willing to pay, and any ethical company would refund the money charged or fix the issue. This is the first time in my life when I feel cheated out of my money, my car not repaired, and further service was refused, and I was brushed off with the advise to sell the car to someone. I do not recommend this business, it s a rip off. My issue was not resolved, my money is gone, I have to take my car to be repaired at a different auto shop, and it s been 2 weeks, I have not had a car for 2 weeks, and have been borrowing my family s car.Services: Auto exhaust system repair, General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Vehicle Inspection, Brakes, Auto maintenance, Auto brake replacement

My wife has been coming to this place for several years, to do oil changes, couple of very light easy repairs. This time clearly the car was not performing well, once again she brought the car to this auto shop. She ended up spending almost 3 Thousand dollars, as soon as the car got back to the house, it was blowing black smoke from the exhaust. The owner admitted that they misdiagnosed the car, and fixed a bunch of other things that they thought would solve the problem. The problem was never solved, clearly because they did some other work. Even though they misdiagnosed the car, didn't solve the problem, they would not refund any money back. The owner simply said " I don't work for free, so I can't refund anything." Well if you can not do the job you promised you will, you should not be getting paid, it's that simple. They kept the money the car is still broken, 3k down the drain. Horrible service, and Horrible customer service, never going to this place again. Worst experience, especially after admitting that the issue was misdiagnosed.Service: Auto water leak repair

Highly recommend! Tom and the crew have been great and they give you no BS when discussing issues and repairs for your BMW. We ve had our car worked on several times and the turnaround is quick and communication is fantastic.

I called for a rough estimate on my m3 for some coolant work. Someone in management was not only extremely rude and condescending but laughed at me several times. Who laughs at someone? What a weird experience. This place might have good techs but whomever deals with customers is a joke. Be careful.

I don t often write reviews but Checkpoint Automotive deserves a 5 star review. I broke down coming off the 405 and made it to their shop. They were so kind, professional and trustworthy. Highly recommend!!! Trust their opinion and work.

I took my bmw here because I was told they were specialist with them and it was the worst mechanic experience I ve ever had to date. They completely ignored what I told them to do with the car which was the starter and when I got my car back I drove it for five minutes and then it wouldn t start again. When I told them that was the situation they told me to turn the key harder and stomp on the break pedal as if that was the solution to fixing my car. I would never go here again and would not recommend it to my worst enemy. I went to another mechanic And had them fix the starter and now it starts up every time.

I can't believe my luck in hearing about Check Point! A guy saw my car - 1987 635 csi BMW - and ran up to me and said, I know where this should go for repair and maintenance. Gave me the name - I went and met, left my car (starter failing)...and my troubles are over! WHEW. I'd been having to drive from Pacific Palisades to farthest Chatsworth since my German car expert retired.)Services: Electrical repair, Tires, General repairs & maintenance, Wheel alignment, Brakes, Battery

This company is the best in L.A. not only is everyone that works their delightful. But the service is amazing and HONEST. After being ripped off repeatedly by BMW this was such a surprisingly refreshing experience. I m a customer for life!
