This man name Leo from Bernie s Transmission is a THIEF .He is Not Not Honest person to leave your car in his shop. I took my car to get it check left it over night and he said my transmission was going to be $3800.00 .I left shop to think about it . I got home to look in my car trunk. I noticed my wheelchair on the back of my car trunk. Was stolen that belonged to my brother. I keep it Thier to take him to his dyalsis center . I went back to shop spoke to Leo and told him that my wheelchair in back of my truck was stolen and I left my car over night in his shop . If he could check his cameras to see who stole my wheelchair from his shop. Mr Leo said No he had to get someone to look at camera footage for that one day. I called police to talk to Leo . The police said to take Leo too small claims court. So if you are reading this review Do not leave you re car overnight at this shop thier thief s big time . Please take video of your beelines inside your car and miles . Do not leave your car at this shop thier thief s THIEF S THIEF S BIG TIME.

Leo is incredibly honest and has integrity. I've had some issues with my Plymouth Duster, but Leo and his team couldn't find anything wrong with the tranny. They could have fabricated any diagnostic, but again, they are amazingly honest. I offered to pay for the inspection and time, but Leo insisted that I not pay since nothing was really done to the car. I am so impressed and willing to go back when I actually have a transmission problem. I strongly recommend this shop due to its integrity and long-standing relationship with the Highland Park community.Service: Transmission

Towed my car to Bernies, transmission wouldn't go into drive, it did get reverse. I waited for Leo to get there when he got there, without putting my car on the hoist, without turning the car on, without looking underneath car he tells me it's going to be $4500, I asked him why? You haven't even inspected the car he said it's $4500 I told him what if it just needs an oil flush or change, what if it's the sensors, he says I'm not going to do the oil, it's $4500. I told him I don't have that amount of money I'm towing it back home, he said ok, horrible demeanor and I noticed his previous reviews are all good and given by men, the bad reviews he has are given by women. HE NEVER INSPECTED MY CAR! Women beware do not bring your car here, I wish there was a mechanic inspector so they could give him some kind of sanction. I am a 67 year old female.

Said to call the next day after I brought car in. I called. He said can t do Friday. He wasted 3 days of my time when I could have gone somewhere else. Would never refer to anyone.

Awesome shop. The team here is super knowledgeable and did a e150 van transmission refurbish at a fair price. I've put 2k miles on it so far and the van is running swimmingly.

brought my SUV to have as estimate made. They called back and it was just a clutch replacement. They were patient as I had to wait for my after market clutch to arrive. Everything was done on time as stated and new clutch works fine. I am planning on returning for another repair that is needed when I have the money for the replacement part. This is fair and easy going shop. There wasn't any costly surprises, which i appreciate.

Brought a truck in to get 5th gear checked out. Was told they could look at it in a day or two, and when I came by the shop, my truck was still in the same spot, and when talking with the owner Leo, he basically said just take it to another shop. Super disappointed because he came highly recommended. To edit this post they have a sign outside that says "one day service in most cases" and had my truck for 4 days and still couldn't look at it.Service: Transmission

They have been around for many years and unfortunately, I had the pleasure of having them rebuild my transmission. Nobody wants to shell out that kind of money but they were cheaper than a thousand dollars from my other two estimates. I've only had it a few days since it's been fixed, but they do have a 12 month 12 thousand mile guarantee. I would definitely recommend them to others.

We took our Mazda 3 2006. It took a while to get some electronic components but it was delay due to the pandemic. However. Leopoldo took good care of it. We are driving it now and it is going zoom zoom smoothly!

Great work. Honest mechanics and affordable rates.You don t have to pay an arm and a leg to get your car running. I highly recommend this place . Also near restaurants/bars so you can get a bite to eat while your car is getting fixed .

Shady AF. Told me I needed a new $3k transmission, when all that was wrong was the check engine light (with transmission code) came on after a day when driving hundreds of miles in triple digit weather.
