A1 SMOG IS WITHOUT ANY DOUBT - the finest smog check establishment I have found in my (usually very very expensive) 30+ year career restoring cars. It is truly the owner that makes the place. Yes yes he is gruff as all hell. But worth the skin you will sacrifice. Call ahead and book a reservation. Very crowded and usually booked at least one day ahead. Meaning: no last Smog emergencies here. Owner has owned multiple repair facilities. He earns all the star for A1 SMOG. Take it to the bank!

I can confirm that all the other positive reviews are true. It's better to make an appointment because he respects appointments and gets you out on time. The guy is a Little rude but that's because he's all business. No chitchat, just getting the job done and keeping the line moving. I was out in less than 30 minutes and it only cost me $58.

These guys are amazing. I've used them twice. I set an appointment in advance -- for the same day. I called ahead and asked if they were on time. He said "we're always on time." I got there ten minutes early. He took my car into the bay immediately, told me it would take 20 minutes, and finished in exactly that time.

These guys are great. They take appointments up to 2 hours before the time you'd want to arrive. They are fast. Super nice. I failed the first time and the follow up check was free.

Great customer service, gave me free advice on not keeping too many keys on my keychain. Fast in and out with no problems. There's also discounts available for making appointments and online. I'd suggest making an appointment before going in.

I got my smog test done when I moved from OR to CA before I transferred my registration. Was quick and easy and fairly priced!Being able to book my appointment online was a huge bonus!

Making an appointment was easy and the test was quick but they re not nice lol. The guy on the phone was short, frustrated, and hard to understand. The shop was hard to find and the lobby smelled like cigarette smoke. The conversation in the office was lively. So a quick test with a sharp attitude. Could be the right place for some people, but I won t be back.

Excellent service!! David made all accommodation for me (I'm disabled), gave me swift, friendly and very courteous service! I couldn't give A1 Smog a higher recommendation. Go there if you live on the West Side, or even if you don't - it's worth the drive! Terrific experience!

Always fast and courteous and on the last car I sold, advised me that I didn't need one because the car was less than 4 years old in CA. Could have done the job and never told me as I would have never known. Very convenient and clean. Super place.

Easy to use and fairly priced. My wife and I both use A1 Smog and have always been pleased with the service. Our cars and Toyota's 16 and 20 years old. The cars just keep working so why buy new ones.

Amazing. Made a same-day appointment, he was waiting for me when I drove in, he showed me to the waiting room, I sat for 10 minutes or so, then I was done. He gave me the paperwork and walked me thru it. Cou'dn't have gone better.

The man who helped me was super nice. I was a walk in and he explained how long it would be and he even finished slightly ealier. He said he would call me when it was done so I was able to go eat nearby.

Made an appointment here. The man who assisted me was very kind and even explained to me what was left to do after the smog check. It was my first time, so that was very appreciated! Will come back again and recommend.

The place is useless. They don't have their machines up and running. I took in a classic car, and they said $75. But when I got there they said they only work on newer cars.I think any price over $50 is a rip off from any smog check. The computer does the work, and they gouge you for whatever they want.Be careful, they also have another location in Ingewood.

I like this place and even my car dealer service recommended him when I told them I went to A1 smog check, they knew who he is and talked highly of him that he knows what he is doing. He is very fair and helpful. My car didn't pass smog at another location I went to at first, brought my car here after the first place and he told me why it is not passing by doing a test on it with a hand held device he attached to my car. He didn't charge me for this and told me to have this issue fixed by a mechanic, then go back there for smog check.

Easy to make an appointment, car taken in on time, fast service, done in less than half an hour, & paperwork electronically sent to DMV. I come here every 2 years for the required smog check.

First made an appointment for the next day at 9:30 a.m.for a smog check on a 93 geo prisn. Got a call around 4 p.m. to advise machine for older ars was down and even recommended another place. Next morning's they called to advise machine was up. Took about 30 minutes and cost $85. Would use them again as very convenient to home and work

This place is thorough and fast. I took my 94 Accord to another shop months ago and it wasn't passed because there was a leak in the exhaust (muffler) - they still charged me for it without completing the test. When I took it here the guy told me he'd go ahead and plug the leak and complete the test. Leak plugged, car passed! No extra charge....
