I've known the owner JOSE for over 20+ Years. That's how long my family vehicles have been taken to Jim's Automotive Repair. I just recently had my front suspension struts/shocks and all replaced total materials and labor $900. This would have cost me $2K total easily at the dealership. Jose is a man of Godly Character and he runs his business with the same standard customer to customer, no matter who you are. If you need car repair work, this hidden gem in the community is the go to place. God Bless you Jose!

Great family mechanic, took my girlfriend to get her radiator fan fix they had the car done the same day ready to be picked up and it was cheaper than other shops called.Shorty after her radiator repairs my car started to leak oil took it to Jim's and it was just a oil pressure sensor costing me way less money than I was imagining in my mind.I would recommend any friends or family to this mechanic.

Jose is the most honest guy I have ever meet. He even went out of his way to help my daughter move with minimal cost. I trust him with any of my auto repair needs. Just had a timing chain break on my daughter's Audi A4 and trust him to fix it.Thank you so much Jose for taking care of my daughter while I am in Atlanta. I trust you Man.

Jose and the entire Jim's Auto team are the best classic VW shop around, knowledgeable and able to fix the tricky issues that come up when keeping an old car running strong. Thanks for all the help on my '73 Westy!

Impossible to find a better mechanic than Jose! Jose and his family are such good people, they're amazing to work with and have gotten my '71 Westfalia in awesome shape. Jose always takes time to walk me through the repairs, what he's doing and why. They are masters in car maintenance and repair. And the pricing is really fair. Thanks for all of your help!

They replaced my brake pads for a very fair price, and they cleaned the exterior of my car without even mentioning it. I didn't notice until I got home but it's spotless, and they didn't charge me for it.Jose, the gentleman who serviced my car, was really kind and warm, and just generally knowledgeable. This is the best auto shop I've ever been to, and it's the only one I will go to from now on.Services: Brakes, Brake service & repair

I absolutely love this place. Jose is the owner and he knows everything there is to know about cars from the inside out.Fortunately, he has also passed on his mechanical prowess to his son and the rest of the mechanics are excellent too.Above all else, Jose is very honest and before he does any work on your car; he will answer all questions you have regarding any repairs that need to be done on your car before he does the repairs.He has gone as far as popping the hood of the car for me and showing me as well as explaining to me what needs to be done to fix my car.Honesty, Reasonable Pricing, and RESPECT for all client's at Jim's Auto Repair. It doesn't get any better than this!!

I have a classic 1979 VW Westfalia campervan that needed an extensive overhaul after sitting in the garage after 3 years of the pandemic. I live in West LA and most of my former VW mechanics closed up shop due to the high rents on the Westside. I was lucky to find Jose at Jim's Auto Repair in Long Beach who had the expert knowledge to diagnose a faulty distributor which was causing my Westfalia to stall. Jose is an expert mechanic with exceptional interpersonal skills. He also built a strong cadre of mechanics at his shop. His price was reasonable given the extent of work needed to bring my Westfalia to tip top running condition. While sitting in the waiting area, I was able to talk to the many satisfied customers bringing their German cars over for repairs.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Auto maintenance, Oil change

Im new to Long Beach. I came here for a second opinion and the mechanic here told me I didn't need all the extra work the previous mechanic told me I needed. They won my respect....and my business. Very honest mechanic.Its nice to see they could fix my Nissan Altima

Took my car to two places before coming here. No one could tell me what was wrong with my car nor give me a guarantee or at least be certain that if I let them work on the car, it would be fixed. I let Mr. Jim test drive the car and he was sure with 80% certainty what the problem was. Didn't play any games or offer any "deals." He gave me a fair price to do the work and he did it. My car feels like new. Highly recommend. You can tell as soon as you meet him and speak with him, there's no BS. Absolutely satisfied.

Jose is a honest mechanic. I took off one star as he was unable to fix the start up putter sound with our 2013 VW GTI. He fixed our 2001 VW Rialta (Eurovan) right away when the fan blades broke cutting the serpentine belt and damaging the radiator. He stands behind his work. I like that he will refer you to a specialty shop if he can t do the repair.

Jim's Auto is the most reliable and honest car repair shop I have ever used. I can't say enough good things about them. We have 2 older cars with high mileage and Jose at Jim's keeps them running and not for a lot of money. I will never use dealerships again once warranty is expired on any of our cars. I highly recommend them. If you go elsewhere, you will pay more and pay for things you don't know.

Great honest mechanic. Can be a bit pricey for some services. However Jose will always tell you what is wrong and won't charge for services you don't need. Have taken all my family's cars here and always know I can trust the job was done right.

Jose (the current owner) will do you right. I have brought both of our family cars here and he always gives you options with what needs to be done without pushing for the most expensive options. On one of our cars, we opted to postpone having something done because we couldn't afford it at the time. Since he had part of the engine out and he was near the part we were going to defer, he replaced it anyway and said we could pay for the part and service fee for labor next time we came in, saving us paying the full labor cost of removing the part he already had off. When one of our cars had a catastrophic failure, he let me know right away that it was not worth repairing. He didn't make any attempt to push me into a very expensive repair. That sort of honesty is sometimes lacking in car repair shops and is greatly appreciated.

Honest, dependable and fast. Not adjectives normally used to describe a mechanic. Jose and his team have my full endorsement. There are certain places for woman hates to enter speaking for myself it's a mechanic and Fry's Electronics I can say at least for this mechanic I have never had such a good experience thanks to all involved.

this review is for customer service:I called just to get an estimate and Jr. was helpful,patient, knowledgeable...and even asked for all my info to give me options on repairing my 2009 CC turbo engine. i'd called more well-known places who quoted me 2-3times higher and have no alternatives to repair.unfortunately,I didn't have all the finances to start the process for installing the new engine but now I know exactly where I'm taking my car once I do.I'll follow-up with a final review once installation service is completed!

Great place, their work is quality and the techs aswell as the head honcho, Jose, are all honest and knowledgeable guys. Would recommend for any VW or Audi work.They could have easily charged me more or sold me something that I didn't need, since I don't know much about my new(to me) VW Gli. Therefore I'll keep my business with them.The only con is that you have to be proactive about calling them, since they have a lot of cars on their lot.

I just don't have enough words to write down. Excited , happy, glad, fulfilled, thankful, delited and so much more. When I say I'm beyond thankful and happy... Jim's auto brought my 1974 Volkswagon Battle ( Bug) back alive. I'm and just filled with excitement... clean repair , honesf employees, very reasonable prices. The car mechanic Mr. Jose clearly took his time, found out exactly what my bug needed and just " Performed " the magic. I sure will be using this business for car repairs from this day forward. No more searching and wondering. Sweet Pea has found a excellent hospital and a great doctor.... Tara

Brought my 1987 Westfalia to Jose as it was making a bad noise from the wheels and the brakes were soft. He found the issue and even tightened up my clutch and shifter. Very happy!

I want to say this is one of the best shops I have encountered. My car was stuck in Long Beach from Hawaii to Virginia broken down. Jose and the guys fixed it in a matter of minutes and had it out quick.
