This business is a hidden gem. The owner is onsite and helpful, their pricing is fair and they will discounts for referrals. The super cool thing is that they offer DMV services , for a fee, but the convenience is worth it. I recommend this location with no hesitation.

I love CAL STATE SMOG in Livermore, Ca!!! Not only do I always get my car smogged here, I also renew my Tags too. They do it all. Today, I transferred a title of an old truck to my name. Melvin was so professional and nice. He made me feel like a person and not just a number. That is why I avoid the DMV and always come here. Everyone here is kind.

This is really good service. I was selling my car and was able to come in here to get the smog done and transfer title to buyers right away. Easy process. Took about 20 minutes for everything. 5 Star Review for Cal State Smog!!! Melvin is the man!! I was having trouble with DMV and renewing my registration online, and I was way overdue for a smog check. DMV said they could not locate my VIN number or find my vehicle in their system. I did not know what to do at this point. Multiple friends referred me to Cal State and told me he was super knowledgeable and helpful with registration renewals. I decided to stop by there last week (with no appointment) to ask if he would be able to help me. Melvin went above and beyond to help me get it all situated. He took my car back immediately and performed the smog, submitted the info on DMV website for me, I was able to pay my registration right there in his office, and he handed me my new tags all in just 30 mins!! Unbelievable! Saved me a trip to DMV.He also gave me a discount for being referred to him. I have never had anything go this smoothly and it is all because of Melvin's knowledge. Highly recommend Cal State Smog!!!

Went in for a smog check/vehicle registration. Also had the title moved from my maiden name to married name and added my husband on as well. They charged me over $2k. Said that were the fees for California. No. They charged me for taxes for a car I already paid taxes for. I called ahead to schedule a time that worked for me which was very easy to schedule. They seemed really nice over the phone so everything looked good so far. I went in right on time for my appointment and I was only there for 10 minutes. The customer service was great and the price was good. My brother actually got his car checked the same day at smog King with a coupon and my smog check was still $10 cheaper and also they do Registration there means no waiting at DMV I definitely recommend coming here.

Friendly and quick. I called before I came and they gave me price of 68 for smog. There was $20 off online coupon so comparable to my last place of $49 and closer. Then I came in and its $89 and $30 off. I needed this done so I didn't argue. What I assume they meant over phone was they gave me discounted price just didn't mention that. I dont like when places are unclear especially for me to drive 5 min more down road and pay $10-15 less. Overall good experience. Just putting info out for new customers.

I went there for out-of-state vehicle registration. They could not process my documents saying the system won t allow it and asked me to go to the nearest DMV. I was still charged an exorbitant amount for VIN verification which is done for free at the DMV.Service: Out-of-stateService: Out-of-state

Love this place. So easy to get smogged, pay registration and get tags all at once. The staff is friendly and there's usually a coupon in the mailer pack.

Bro like this place is awesome, I had to change titles and get a smog and everything was completed quickly and it was great. DMV takes too long with their services especially if you don t bring the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution they deny to help you. The same documents turned down from DMV is the same documents this place accepted and assisted with positive and professional attitude.

Rave for Cal State Smog Check & DMV Registration Services.In and out for a drop in smog check in less than 10 minutes.Had an issue with my car that will be resolved by driving 100 miles so they didn t charge me! Just asked me to come back after I drive the miles to get the car retested.Couldn t ask for a better experience.Service: Smog certification

I came across this smog shop while looking to get the smog done on my Mercedes. I called them and they told me that I did not need an appointment and can just walk in during business hours. My experience was awesome! Best smog shop in Livermore by far. Clean, fast and friendly. Great customer service. Everything was a breeze! I will be returning again when its time for another smog check.

These guys are great and did what they say they would do. Knocked out my Smog while I waited. You can renew your registration here too... very convenient. ThanksAnother smooth and quick smog. Great guys.

This is a real smog check station. It is easy and not complicate. If your vehicle is good it will pass. If your vehicle is not good then it will failed. Cal state has a great service and good prices. Also DMV process easy and super fast. If you need smog check or DMV process this is the place to go. Highly recommended.

I work in Livermore and visited this smog shop on my lunch hour. Was in and out in about 10 minutes and the technician was real nice. Parking was easy. Shop was clean. No issues at al. I was also able to get registration tags same day too. I'll be back when it's time for another smog check.

Quick and professional for sure, but Holy Cow!I've never paid this much for a smog test. I should have asked how much before he started. If I'd have known that I would be paying $96 to smog test my '94 Honda, (after the $30 discount) I would have gone somewhere else. Seems like I saw on their website that they charge $49 plus certificate for older cars. Shame on me for not asking.

Excellent and friendly customer service from the time I called about services to stopping by. I dropped in, with a handful of other customers and waited about 15 minutes for my smog test. Short and sweet. Price was mid range, but less than others I had called around to. Definite winner in my book, and deserves 5-stars.

Quickly handled a new out of state motorcycle registration including vin verification. A little pricey but all costs were quoted up front and they had me in and out within an hour with no appointment. This was my first time going to this area. We had a conversation about how my neighbors are paying less than I am. I consulted with him, and he just straight up disagreed, and gave me a $30 discount. Right after that, he charged $78. In my mind I just could believe what kind of human being he is. After that, I told him that I was going to give him a bad review. He ignored me and told me you could do whatever you want. I just couldn t believe this guy. He was trying to make easy money off of me. He is so hard to communicate with, and made my blood boil.

Had a coupon saying they'll match any local price. Even brought in the competitor's coupon if they gave me any trouble about it. Well, they did. I didn't need STAR smog but they did it anyway and of course charged me extra for it saying that's what the coupon was for. No, it was for a price match any smog. They were otherwise helpful I guess, and it was quick because I was the only one there...

I needed to smog a car I bought and then register it. The guy at the shop was great, it took about 15 minutes for the smog check to complete (granted I was the only one there at the time) and, most important, I didn't have to go to the Pleasanton DMV and wait in line for an hour and a half; he took care of everything from the shop and now my car has a smog check and is registered under my name... in 15 minutes... awesome.

I have a 33 ft 1994 RV and is hard to find places that will smog check RV s this big. The staff was pleasant and helpful. They serviced my RV fast and efficiently. No appointment needed. I m very happy I found this place and will continue to bring my RV here from now on. Highly recommended!

I was referred to these guys by a friend.I pulled into the garage, and with no appointment was immediately able to get my car in for a smog check.The place is clean, there isn't a any debris or crap that seems to be lying around in most car places.20 minutes later, I was driving away a satisfied customer.Easiest possible transaction, will recommend this place to anyone as my transaction was a smooth as possible and cheaper than other local places.A quick, easy and affordable experience.

Ever since I've found this repair center they have taken care of my 14 year old Yukon XL. I am a very satisfied customer. Clean, organized, knowledgeable, and courteous. I've had 4 wheel drive work, suspension work and general maintenance. Smog work is next.
