Woody's Auto Care is the best mechanic I've ever been to. The staff is extremely courteous and prices are way better than the competition. I personally called seven different mechanics in a 25-mile radius, and Woody's prices were the best. I've owned four cars in the past 10 years and I've always used Woody's.

Woody s was awesome! I really don t know much about cars and they took the time to fully explain what was going on with my car in a way that I understood. They also showed me on my car what was broken and what they were replacing. They are very honest, very helpful, very kind and made me feel comfortable! They also checked in a few days after the service to make sure everything was running great. Can not recommend this place enough!Service: General repairs & maintenance

Arrived at shop brakes completely gone. I was helped right away. Gave my keys. Car was ready to go in 2 hours. Best service I ever got anywhere in my life. I ve been taking my cars to Woody s for over 20 years. I ve never had a bad experience. On the contrary, they ve always given exceptional service! They were honest and thorough, until now. Woody sold his business. The expertise and customer service has completely plummeted! It s so disappointing! It s impossible to find a reliable mechanic. Now, instead of being one in a million, Woody s is simply just another mechanic. I made a complaint and instead of saying sorry they said come get your car and hung up on me. It s outrageous that you could frequent a business for all those years, only to have them throw your business away so easily. My husband and I are elderly and disabled and rely on our specially equipped car to get anywhere. They closed early and kept my car overnight without my consent. After having my car for two days they still didn t fix it or even call to say they hadn t even touched the car. I left two messages and they never even checked their machine.I MISS WOODY!!! Woody's used to be the best car mechanic in Imperial Beach that I would recommend to all the locals in San Diego to use. When we first arrived, Chris, Tom and the crew would go above and beyond the call of duty and they gained our trust. However, their service has been slipping over this past year, and I unfortunately have to write this review that we no longer trust them as a car mechanic. They started doing the bare minimum, we caught them a few times when they didn't properly inspecting the vehicle and not checking things. However, we gave Woody's the benefit of the doubt.However, on our past visit, we had previously brought our car to a dealership for a recall and they recommended additional repairs. We called Woody's to get a ballpark price estimate and it was significantly lower than the dealership so we moved forward. When I arrived for first appointment of the day at 8am, Tom mentions the repairs would take 1/2 day and they would be done in the morning, and they would call me right away to confirm the estimate. I get breakfast and a 3 hours pass by, and I get no phone call, and no update with my vehicle. I walk back to Woody's and I see my car in the same spot on the street from where I parked this morning! They never even did an inspection! I walk inside and ask Chris what's going on and he just gives me a new estimate which is $200 higher than what we previously discussed on the phone. After further discussion, I still agree to Woody's proceeding to the car repairs, however he says the car won't be done until tomorrow. Really poor communication considering they mentioned it would be done in the morning same day.So now I have take a lyft ride home because I needed to attend to my dogs and work meetings in the afternoon. I send Chris a friendly professional email regarding the price increase and the inconvienence they caused hoping for a resolution. He gives me a call, and rather than apologizing, he tells me to pick up my car and bring it to the dealership and he is refusing to give me service. While he has every right to refuse service, I was being professional and not at all being a rude customer. Woody's gave me no choice but to call another mechanic in the area to service the vehicle.It was very unprofessional of Chris on how he handeled the situation and I believe its reflective of the way Woody's has been treating customers in the past year. I also noticed that Chris was arguing with several other customers on the phone while I was in the waiting room, and I felt a very negative tone overall. Its a tough business to be in but a few pointers, to gain customer's trust when you promise something (cost, time, etc), you have to stick with it, and if issues occur that you can't meet your word, you need to communicate that with your customers right away. Customers have careers and lives as well and you need to value their time as well as your own. Chris needs to evaluate himself, his team and the service they are providing to customers. If Woody's continue down this road, they will lose more customers (I've already noticed a few recent negative reviews), and Karma will get them at the end if they don't change back to their old ways.

These guys are great! Wasn't sure where to go for an oil change, tire rotation & intermittent fluid leak. Woody's came highly recommended from my neighbors so I decided to give them a try. So happy that I did... the prices are reasonable and they are very helpful & courteous!

Chris and staff are reliable and I believe honest. Their quote for spark plugs replacement was over 200.00 less than a local chain. Woody's has a great reputation amongst IB locals and beyond. He offered to keep an eye out for a used economy suv that I am looking for. Very busy, so call for an appointment.

I took my 2003 Hyundai Elantra to the dealership. They quoted me $2,000.00 for repairs. Woody s charged me almost half that. The dealership wanted to charge me $200.00 to replace 5 bulbs. Woody s did all 5 for around $100.00. The dealership wanted to charge $200.00 to diagnose an oil leak; Woody s repaired the oil leak for $200.00. The rest of the work they did was much less expensive than the dealership. They were friendly, very professional, and quick. Very helpful, understanding at affordable prices! Mr. Woody is there almost every visit I've made and keeps me updated on the vehicle, and finds me the best affordable parts for my vehicle at reasonable price for my budget. They take good care of the car. And worked with my insurance. Best mechanic I've been to! Keep up the great job! I will be returning for future mechanic issues.

I had a great experience with Woody and his shop. My car was having issues and I took it in for service. Unfortunately, the transmission needed repaired and I decided to defer service. I needed to get my car towed in order to sell it and Woody more than kindly did not charge me for the initial quote to inspect the car. As a customer, this made my day. If I ever need service in the Imperial Beach area, this is where I will go again. I suggest you do too. Thank you Woody!

We are camping on Silverstrand State Beach and arrived from Vegas with a rattling sound and our A/C not blowing cold. They got us in next day 9am for an accurate diagnostic and estimate. They were so quick and courteous and profesional. So far a to assure us we can make it back home before replacing the A/C pulley if it saves us money having it done at our mechanic back in Vegas. They didn t charge us for their time or diagnostic. We camp in San Diego each summer and will rely on Woodys for all our out of town auto emergencies from now on.Service: Air conditioning

Got my car towed there last minute and the gentlemen on the phone was more than happy to look into my issue right away. No appointment needed and they updated me with a phone call any time there were further developments. Great customer service and not only did they do it quickly, but the price was great. I used to work at an auto shop so I know how scary new shops can be, but these guys are upfront and trustworthy. First time coming here and will definitely be returning for all my auto repair needs.

My experience at Woody's was great! I couldn't be happier with the service I received. If you want quality work at a fair price Woody's is the place to go. I was in a difficult situation and Woody took care of me promptly. Thanks to Woody and his staff for such great service. I Will be back for any of my automotive needs. I have no hesitations on recommending Woody's for your automotive care as well.

Chris and his team are TOP NOTCH. I brought my beloved 1997 Civic in this morning with a malfunctioning transmission system and they were super helpful and cool from jump. I couldn't recommend this place more! Honest work for an honest price and a friendly smile to boot. If you need auto repair, I definitely recommend you come here first!

The dealership estimated over $600 in repairs for my vehicle to pass a smog test! Easy Breezy Smog referred us to Woody's Auto Care. I made an appointment and the car passed the test for less than half of what the dealership would have charged. Thanks to Woody's, our mechanic from today on!!

The reason I brought my vehicle to Woody's was pure proximity. My alternator was making noises and due to previous experience I suspected it was bad. My request was clear to test the alternator and confirm it is was working. The diagnosis ($83) was a bolt was loose and that the alternator is good and working properly. They ordered a bolt, put it in ($90) and a new noise and smell was noticed upon pick up. I drove it a bit yet it seemed off. The winding noice I was hearing is one sign of a bad alternator. I was told it's fine and sent on my way.After one day of driving less than 20 miles I stopped at an Auto Zone to have the battery checked due to the light coming on. It was confirmed that the alternator was bad. I spoke with Woody's this morning and asked them how they could help me. It seems that an alternator can be good one day and bad the next?? Did they really test the alternator? An improvement to transparency and educating the customer is recommended. Also, when a part is changed out isn't it protocol to give the customer the old one?At the very least, be willing to install a new alternator at no cost. I was told I would again have to pay for the installation. It would be nice to talk with the mechanic that tested the alternator and put in the new bolt.Customer care could definitely be enhanced. At this point in time, I struggle with any positives...oh, they wear uniforms. Nice touch.

I needed help with the shifter on my 97 Ford van. I tried to fix it and could not figure it out. Woodies recommendation was to purchase a used steering column as the most expeditious way to fix the problem. I agreed. When I picked the van up a few days later, they said that two bolts were missing - a common size - and they didn't put it all back together. Further, they replaced the steering wheel with a unit that was in worse condition than mine, and a left a piece of the shifter off. So I can drive the van, and I can fix the rest, but they would have made a much better impression on me with a complete job.

I was leaving IB for a lengthy road trip and discovered I needed new U Joints before I could leave. They got my truck in immediately and completed the repair very quickly. Great customer service and very reasonable price. Woody s gets an A+ from me.

some local told me to use woodys, not impressed with their service. Did not feel like a new customer, overcharged for basic ac repair, gave me some bogus story about how much freon went way up.
