We had issues with passing the smog exams with a vehicle. I took it to multiple places and multiple diagnostics. The problem was not fixed. After thousands of dollars, multiple incorrect repairs, and multiple months The problem was not fixed... Then we took the vehicle in to Gustafson and the employees are wonderful, helpful, and nice. They fixed the problem in a few days. I messed up an did not go there first. I wish I did. I would have saved a lot of time and headaches.

This play should be reported to Better Business Bureau and investigated continuously until they are no longer in business I mean 50 years, family business enough is enough with the unhealthy, mentally ill, and well funded people that think they are mechanics, mechanically inclined and whatever else they have going on at this AAA Certified Repair facility.I was charged $450 for them to tell me that they'll investigate a coolant leak and failure to pass smog on 1994 Mercedes Benz S420 with only 102k. I came in there wanting an estimate for how much it will cost to fix whatever the problem was, I even provided smog test reports and the evidence of the obvious coolant leak. I told them that I was really not feeling well, I live pretty far away and it's a bit much for one day to deal with and they looked very very busy there. The car was towed into the back lot and I waited about 15-30 minutes talking to the young lady at the front desk and the mechanic there providing them both as much detailed information as possible. I was told I'll get an estimate and that on Saturday or Monday the car will be ready for me to pick up. This was on Friday the 8th of September 2023. Shortly after I left and was walking to the bus stop I received an email from them they did say they were going to send one.I did not approve any work and they started working on the car, well that's what Eric called it on Saturday evening after declining to release it to the same tow company that towed it in. On Friday I was told that I'll be getting a text on Saturday morning, I did not receive one call from this place or text like I was told, just emails demanding more and more money. Eric told me that the technician spent hours working on the car on Saturday morning. They literally forced me to pay this money and damaged few things on the vehicle both interior, exterior who knows what else. The car has to be sold now and it was a simple transfer of ownership process. And I was on the way there to do smog yet again after failing twice because the guy does not know about Mercedes Benz and drives the vehicles with the doors open on and off the Dyno, at the place where I tried to smog twice and it's obviously a smog only place, but that's another story and review. Get a diagnostic of the problem and hopefully fix it, if it's inexpensive.After what Gustafson Brothers Automotive called investigative work which I did not approve, they provided me yet another estimate, this time for almost $3000 which included parts that were recently replaced according to the previous owner that I'm still in contact with who is looking for supporting documents. I mean he had Mercedes Benz hoses on it that they're saying were original when they were just recently replaced, very hard to find parts.I've told not just the front desk young lady who has hard time communicating, concentrating, just working in general but also the technician Sean Leahy who I told numerous times that I need an estimate to how much it's going to cost look into the coolant leak that I developed without the car getting Hot, on Highway 1 after I pulled over less than 10 minutes driving from this place and failure to pass smog and I just left from USC Smog Test.Eric, the front desk lady whoever else just refused to release the vehicle unless I paid them. I mean I still feel like this mentally ill family business is still here threatening, harassing forcing me to give them money, talking about something they have no business doing, at my home, wow and it's Wednesday morning the 13th of September 2023.Please stay away from this place because I know I will. Who in their right mind will pay someone $450 for simple diagnostics I've never seen an estimate this high for diagnostics. Here it's called investigation, smog failure investigation over $300 just for that.Good luck there allTake care ok

Was having an issue with my car... have always heard good things about Gustafson, so I called in and spoke to Eric. Dropped my car off in the morning and within a few hrs, they sent a full breakdown of everything with picture proof! No getting jerked around at all. My car got fixed and the exact issue is gone. Fair pricing, great service, and fantastic work! Definitely recommend!! Thank you Eric and Gustafson Brothers!

First, let me say, they have a customer for life. I have been taking my car to the dealership body shop since i could drive. (Over 20 yrs) recently, a tree fell on my car, and i had to get it repaired, as there was rain forcasted foe the week, and wasnt sure if the sunroofs seal was broken, etc.. my schedule is downright erratic, and I barely have time to breathe most days. RAE, was my advisor, and she was more than helpful. She kept me updated throughout the process, worked with my unbearable schedule, made sure it was a smooth process, and made me feel very heard. I can't say enough about the experience and how amazing it was. Thank you so much, Rae! It's because of you and the quality customer service that I will refer anyone to you guys, and god forbid i have to get body work again, it will always be here.

I was pleased to find trusted servicing of my Prius 2005 here. I found super nice customer service, garages were clean, organized and service was honest and punctually professional.This was a one stop full service, water & cup of coffee, onto completing the smog, 86k maintenance, filters, and estimated repairs for my maintenance books.Their printout receipt helps to plan ahead for my next phase of repairs & future body work. Plus emergency battery charge was done with AAA recommendations.Super cool way to do online approvals of services too! I'll be back!

I had them fix a few rust spots on my roof of my 2000 Ford F250. They quoted $1600 and about a week to fix and I approved it. Upon digging into it, they called and said it was going to be more work than they thought and had to increase the price to $2500. I approved that because I figured I wanted to do it right and not cut corners.They then proceeded to keep my truck for 3 weeks. 2 weeks longer than they quoted. I understand a job might need more time, but that is really over the line. They kept pushing the completion date farther and farther back each time I called them. It got to the point where I said I m going to come pick up my truck regardless if the work was finished. They did finish it the next day after that call.It was a frustrating experience overall because my wife was without her car for 2 weeks longer than we were expecting. Anyway, when I finally came to shop to pick up my truck, they took 30 minutes to go and pull my truck around they left me waiting till the very last second.On to the quality of work, the rust repair and body work and paint they did to my truck is sub par. It will work and serve its function and keep the roof from leaking, but there is a noticeable divet in the top cab corner where someone didn t check to see if the body line was consistent. It s sub par at best. To be honest, most people won t notice when they walk up to my truck and I don t care enough or trust them to fix it and have them keep my truck for another 3 weeks. They knocked off $200 from the price after this all. Thats the only reason why it s 2 stars for me. I would not recommend Gustafson for body work.EDIT: I discovered weld spatter all over the plastic trim panel for the driver side passenger door, these guys truly didn t give two flying you know what s about the quality of this job. I can t believe they allowed this level of negligence to happen. Bringing it down to one star. Seriously guys, this was the most unprofessional job I ve ever witnessed. In my line of work, we put fire blankets over roof shingles during welding so the customer sees that we take pride in what we do, and these guys don t even want to do that for someone s personal vehicle. Poor workmanship, unprofessional, careless, and unacceptable.Not to mention the roof started to rust 3 weeks after I picked it up, but unfortunately they ve lost my trust and I will not bring my truck back to fix their shoddy workmanship.

My Ford Focus is an '02 and it was leaking oil. After taking it to Gustafson's, they said it would need both front and back seals replaced. It had a host of other problems and I expected to just get a new car while it was still running. The estimate was just over $3,400 for the work and they guarantee for 3 years which I hope, will give me the time to save for another car. They were very considerate in getting me an Uber to and from their garage even though I live several miles beyond their boundaries of Huntington Beach. Two days after pick-up I saw oil. again, on my driveway and I panicked. The mechanic seeing my car; Sean, put it up on the lift right away and checked it. He said it was only residual from the work and gave it a hosing. I am very pleased with their patience for such an old car and I wouldn't trust anyone else. I told them my radio went out and they put in a new fuse for free. Thank You! T.J.Cooling

First time I used them I brought in my car to replace the wheel bearing and I ended up transferring ownership of the car to a family member. 3 months after the repair they ended up having to replace the same wheel bearing. The mechanic they took the car to said that the previous repair was done incorrectly. Unfortunately I was not told about the repair until after the fact and when I contacted Gustafson they pretty much told me I was SOL. I would not recommend taking your car here.

Great customer service and they're super professional at Gustafson Brothers. Came in to get a prepurchase inspection. Eric was the best! Got the all-clear that the car was in great condition. Will definitely continue to bring my car in for future servicing and repairs.

Chances are, if you're reading this, you're having a terrible day. That's how I found myself at Gustafson Brothers a couple weeks ago. Someone ran a light and hit my car AAA sent me but, in spite of this, the people, especially Kathy and Rae were very very kind and helpful and continuously made my needs a priority. They answered my questions frankly and honestly and I am ever so grateful. Those poor souls had to deal with me for almost two weeks on account of the other driver's insurance company wasting time. Thanks for reading this and have a happy 2022.

I have never been to a better auto body shop since my husband was alive. They kept me up to date on all that had to be done to my van with pictures and notes. Working with Ray & Rae couldn't have been easier. They were both extremely helpful and responsive. The body repairs for my CRV turned out great. Very Happy, and sending my Brother in with my Mother's car because I was so happy. Thanks again, for ANOTHER great Job!11/2023 - Back again for more great service. They are most likely to be the best car fix place in the county! The reason I say car fix place. Is that they do everything there, and I do mean everything! And their prices are very reasonable and the people are absolutely fantastic. Now if you're going to go there make an appointment they are super busy for most part I had an appointment this morning so I got lucky and got right in got my smog check and right back out.

We had a lot of work done on our vehicle at Gustafson Brothers and we couldn't recommend them enough! Sean was our mechanic and took the time to sit down with us when we dropped our vehicle off to go over all of our concerns. He communicated with us throughout the whole process with a lengthy phone conversation to answer all of our questions, as well as daily text messages to keep us updated on the progress of our repairs. I have been a customer of Gusta Brothers for a few years due to recommendation from a friend that lives down the street from their HB location. I had taken nearly all of my four automobiles to them at one point or another. The last two experiences dealing with a battery drain issue in my Mercedes was the last. My service advisor, Sean, might be responsible for one the worst auto service experiences I have had. I originally took the car for some issues weren't resolved. Upon trying to communicate the problem and wanting confirmation from Sean that he understood that the problem was not fixed and that I needed to bring it back, it took me about 3 calls to Sean to get a return call or him to pick up. When I finally brought the car back in recently, I called Sean to schedule my repair and not surprisingly, he never returned my call. Out of frustration, I actually drove about 30 minutes and showed up in person to their location to confirm that it was ok to drop off the car on a Friday. Of course, no apology from Sean. The communication for the first few days the car was being repaired was actually good, as Sean was out of the office and someone else (Eric, I believe) handled the case in his absence. When I was to told by Eric to pick up the car, it was not ready as Sean failed to call me and let me know there would be a delay due to a parts delivery or something. The delay itself is not a big deal.... as long as its communicated. Again, Sean didn't call to let me know and I had to wait a few more hours for the car to get finished. All this frustration could have easily been avoided with a simple phone call. I voiced my frustration to the sympathetic personnel at the front and they insinuated that this was not the first time they had heard a complaint concerning Sean's lack of communication. Of course Sean didn't man-up and come out and apologize, he let the girls in the front desk handle it for him. The front desk informed me that a manager would call my on Monday, but as yet (its been over a week) I have not year heard back from anyone about my issue. I don't really have any gripes about the quality of the work at Gusta, but they aren't cheap and the service you receive from service reps there should reflect their higher prices.Service: Engine repair

Rae is a lazy employee with attitude and does half fast work at her job, I showed up to your shop a total of 3 times and each time Rae would show up 45min-1hr later past our scheduled appointment time. Rae then offered me a FREE service on our first appointment, to repair a scratch on my front bumper. She said since they already had the paint material for my other repairs it would be no problem. she wasted 10 minutes of my time explaining to me how she ll get if fixed for me. I accepted the service and was confirming with her up until the pick up date if the FREE service she offered was worked on. She kept saying yes when I asked about it. When my vehicle was ready for pick up day I showed up on time and still waited over 30 minutes from our appointment time for Rae to give me my vehicle. After I get my car the work she said was being done wasn t even touched. I then call the shop back because she didn t even walk me outside to go over my vehicle repairs she handed me the keys and went straight to the back. The shop give me the phone to Rae and she says she totally forgot to make sure to get that service done. She then offers to bring it in that same day and I agree, then she starts with her lazy attitude about me wanting to take it back in.Services: Painting, General repairs & maintenance

This is a review for service provided 40 years ago. In 1984, I went to Gustafson Bros. To fix stripped threads in a sparkplug area. Dealer wanted to charge me $5k , they did an insert for$50. Glad to see they are doing good business and still operating.I now live 3,000 miles away, however, my dad is trying to be hosed by a dealer, I recommend Gustafson to him and everyone .Service: Engine repair

The team at Gustafson Brothers are excellent; the entire chain from desk agent to mechanics were incredibly thorough and helpful. I booked an appointment over the phone for a pre-purchase inspection on a used vehicle with the desk agent. They were very courteous & helpful with finding an appointment time and taking in relevant information.The team is incredibly transparent and I received notifications throughout every step of the process. Once my car was checked in, I got an email with a link to the planned services & estimates. After the inspection was complete, they emailed me the results complete with photos taken throughout the inspection. For example, they checked all fluids and took a photo of the fluids in vials next to what "normal" should look like. They identified a small oil leak and had photos to document where it was/how bad it was.Overall I was incredibly pleased with the thoroughness and helpfulness of this shop. Would definitely be looking to bring my cars here in the futureService: General repairs & maintenance
