Stopped off on the drive from SF to Redwoods NP. It was almost 8pm and we were looking for a nice place for dinner. The waitstaff was courteous and cheerful. We ordered the beet and goat cheese salad and the golden pig special. Both were excellent! They also had a nice selection of beer and wine. The Golden Pig Signature Red was very nice! We even got a bottle to go. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.

Very nicely appointed bar and restaurant. They also feature a very nice shop in the back. Great bar. Sitting arrangements is ok- not super comfy but not really an issue ( if you don t need a back to lean on). Food is like in so many places up here not as nice as the interior design. Service was solid. Drink and food selection is big.Parking: Plenty of parking

Visiting from out of town (San Diego) for a funeral. And passed this place on my way to hotel from airport and decided to get some lunch. It is outstanding. I got the pulled pork sandwich (best i've ever had), the French fries were cooked to perfection- crisped! The spring salad was so fresh and potato salad was the best I've had outside of my aunts potato salad. So fresh and absolutely delicious! My server Payton was Amazing, knowledgeable and so helpful and genuine with questions I asked about the town (needed a market). She recommended the spicy margarita and it was delish! I ordered a Bahn Mi sandwich to-go to have in hotel next day for lunch and it was so good. Seriously I want to try everything here. Will be returning anytime we are near Hopland again. The only reason I gave 4 stars is patio could use some sprucing up but was still so peaceful. Please bring a 2nd restaurant to San Diego! Dietary restrictions: Plenty of Gluten-free options

Food choices at the top: brussel sprouts (ask for a salt shaker for a tiny bit more salt), white bean soup (ordered three nights in a row!), pork schnitzel was perfectly matched with the bun. Fries with the slider and burger could not have been better. Cole slaw was not too sweet, not overly wet or creamy-perfect as a side if your trainer is going to notice the fries. Desserts are designed to be shared so be thoughtful or get a to go box.Staying in the area, we stumbled by here hoping it would be solid. Three nights of dinners later we did not want to risk the chance that another place within driving distance could possibly be as good. We come from a big city, so the prices were a bargain especially with the great quality of the food and super friendly service.

Drive so the food was absolutely amazing. The holiday cocktail was great the night. We went in the atmosphere. Kind of felt still and the wait staff didn't really seem to know how to bring positive energy throughout the dining room. But that is not me complaining that is just me Picking out very small things we plan to go back next weekend with friends

Goofy name...Great food! As a new resident to Hopland, I can tell you that this place does not disappoint! Their menu is heavy on pork and if you like that....THIS is your place! Their sandwiches are fabulous and are fairly priced. I often get food to take out and everything I've tried has been delicious. I've also eaten on their outdoor ( dog friendly ) patio with my dog and it's been great. The staff is friendly and service has always been good. Oh...and don't forget to try their desserts!! I recently recommended The Golden Pig to some friends visiting from out of town and they've told me no less than 10 times, what a fabulous meal it was and that they can't wait to go back.

My wife and I had dinner here. We ordered some chicken nachos as an appetizer. My wife ordered the quiche. I had the steak. The nachos were good with a generous amount of chicken, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, and salsa. We both liked them. My wife really enjoyed her quiche. My steak was average at best. It came cut up, which I think wasn't a good idea and it came with a pesto that just didn't work well with it. The pesto overpowered the subtle flavors of the steak. My wife's dinner arrived before the appetizer too, which was odd.We both ordered the chocolate cake for dessert which was gluten free. While it was good, I think it would have been better if hadn't been gluten free and I wish that they offered a version that wasn't gluten free. The other desserts we weren't really interested in.There are a couple of other things worth noting about this restaurant. As you attempt to enter, they have blaring music, that hits you like a sledgehammer as you walk toward the door. It would be nice if they would put a few more speakers in and turn it down a bit. The acoustics of the building make it hard to hear anything inside as well, probably due to the hardwood floors which give the place a nice ambiance. The building itself is unique and interesting. The staff was very friendly and helpful.Overall, I think this place has a lot of potential and it is obvious that they are trying to have a unique and interesting restaurant. With a few minor changes, I think they will have one. They are well on their way to getting there already. When I come back, I will probably try some of the lunch items, like the pulled pork or hamburgers which both look quite good.UPDATE:Stopped by for lunch today and it wasn't very good at all. I asked about the size of the burger and was told it was huge. So I inquired about the actual ounces and was told it was 4 oz. Far from huge.I ordered the pulled pork sandwich but had them hold the coleslaw. I don't care for coleslaw. The pulled pork was dry and needed more sauce. It also wasn't very warm, barely above room temperature. The fries that came with it were salted and had a faint taste of pepper to them. I wouldn't recommend the pulled pork.My wife had the quiche. It came with a salad and a piece of cornbread. The quiche was fairly tasty but was way overcooked to the point of almost being burned. The cornbread was burned. My wife sent it back. After about 20 minutes they sent out another piece of burned cornbread with the burned part scrapped off.We ordered two desserts, the apple bar, and the raspberry turnover. The raspberry turnover was almost all dough with very little filling. Both were slightly sour. The apple bar was better and had a nice crunchy top to it, but again the dough was so thick that it was hard to cut through.I really want to like the Golden Pig, but it just isn't that good, especially when you consider that we paid $40 for lunch. I'm not sure I would eat here again.

A nice little place in Hopland that builds its menu around locally produced pork. I had the BLT and thought it was very good but a bit skimpy. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich and i must say that it was one of the best that i have tasted. Most pulled pork starts to taste like 'mystery meat' because it cooks and recooks so much. this sandiwich was the most flavorful and nicely textured that i have tasted. Their fries were also quite tasty.

The place is well-decorated to have a rustic and casual feel (no seat backs anywhere, just stools and benches). The wait was a little long for 2pm on a Sunday. The tables around us had very nicely presented food. My nachos were gorgeous. I just found them to be way too oily (dripping). My friend found the banh mi pork to be tender but the jalapeos were too explosive. Fries were good.

First visit here, place is clean and modern with a moderately upscale feel. Service was warm and attentive, prices were reasonable, and food was excellent. My four year old had the grilled pb&j and was pleased that it came with fries. I had the Cuban that also came with fries. My meal was perfect in every way (portion, flavor, temperature, and presentation) and my son was very pleased as well. I will definitely revisit, and I believe the only issue this restaurant may struggle with is it is fairly small. Accommodation s during peak hours I assume are challenging. I had no issues on a weekday at 1130 am.

My parents, husband, and I drove to Hopland, specifically to eat at The Golden Pig, for dinner. The design and feel is modern and what I would expect from nice, upscale restaurant. When we arrived, we were greeted and seated promptly. The server greeted our table, shared the specials, and was attentive to our table - a plus for sure!We ordered the cheese crock to start, two house salads and a beet/goat cheese salad, a chicken pot pie, lasagna w/ house pork sausage, and two premium steaks. The food is some of the worst dishes that I've had in recent memory, with the exception of the beet salad and lasagna (though the pork is sweet and may not be for everyone). The house salads with ranch tasted very bland and were over dressed. The two premium steaks, which were 8oz filets, were way under seasoned and extremely gristly. We ended up asking our sever if the filets were actually filets. She stated that they are local, grass fed - making them fatty. I'm not a connoisseur of meats, but was pretty surprised with the low quality of the filet. The chicken pot pie was not served with the rest of the main courses - coming to the table about 10-15 minutes later. When it arrived, the chicken pot pie filling was runny, like soup, and the topping was a wafer on top of the bowl.Overall, we were very surprised by the series of follies for nearly all the dishes. I would love for this to have been better and may give it a try again... but the cost of the bill vs. the poor quality makes it hard to decide.

The food was delicious! So good I ordered extra to go. Unfortunately, I forgot to check the to-do bag when I left and, when I got home (3.5 hours away) I realized one of the items I ordered was missing. I knew that my server was new to the job so I should've double-checked, but I was disappointed since I wanted more of the deliciousness!

Cute little local restaurant. A bit light on options other than burgers and sandwiches but the food is very tasty!Apparently all of the meat is grown and butchered locally, and the pig is the owners own livestock. We had Raian as a server and she was cute, cordial and very informative about the history of the restaurant and it's owner. She took very good care of our needs and we thought she was fabulous.I had the pastrami sandwich with fries and a local Racer draft beer. My wife has an amazing cocktail!Parking: We arrived within an hour of closing. Parking may be much different during the dinner rush

What a wonderful experience. I was recommended this location by a nice young lady at the local Solar Living Institue.I had the Grass-fed burger and a Cottonwood Passion cocktail. The burger was juicy and the aioli was balanced perfeftly. The cocktail was sweet with a cinammon garnish that complimented it perfectly. Fries were crispy and ready to eat when they hit the table. The bartender was a jovial man who balanced conversation and excellent costumer service in a way I've not experienced in a very long time. It reminds me why I love California so much.I can't really put it into the right words. I enjoyed every second of my time here. If I ever find the chance, I'll stop back in, if only for the cordiality.
