I have an older Jeep with some underbody rust. Although I have a warranty, a local Jeep dealership held the car for 3 weeks, claimed the warranty wouldn't apply due to the rust, and then quoted me $7000 to replace a clutch. Insane. But Eric at South Bay Auto Repair did the job in 2 days (plus the transfer case) for a fraction of the Jeep dealer's quote. The whole experience at South Bay Auto was efficient, honest, and reassuring. Eric restored more than my transmission; he restored my faith in humanity. This will be our "I know a guy..." shop for as long as my wife and I live here. Bonus: ask to see the wicked guitar collection.

Took in my 2014 Jeep WK2 for some work and to have a couple other items looked over. Eric was very easy to deal with and transparent. Ended up doing rear brakes, parking brake shoes and rear struts replacement. Price was fair and I'm satisfied with the work that was done. MPG has improved due to brakes no longer dragging and the ride quality of my vehicle is like new thanks to the new struts.This was the only shop I gave the opportunity to work on my vehicle based on the reviews and I will continue to check / quote any additional work to be done with Eric and his team.

Eric and staff are the most honest, helpful and frugal mechanics I ever encountered. If I could give 100 stars I would.If you want to have your behind kissed and your hand held more than you want your car to be fixed, and want to be taken advantage of... go to the major brands instead. He's a genius, let him do his job and don't expect the BS of the major brands.Why would anyone go to Firestone or Pep Boys -- both of whom are overpriced and outrageously terribly by contrast?Eric will restore your faith in car mechanics. He is stellar.

Eric has been my mechanic for 3 years now. My car has 130k miles on it. Oil change twice a year, one transmission service, one differential oil service. He has been great to work with. Always lets me know what the state of my car is, what he's monitoring and what might become a future repair need, but never pushes for premature repairs or anything like that. He has earned my trust. We all need a mechanic who looks out for us.Services: Transmission, Brakes, Auto maintenance, Oil change

Friendly, accurate in diagnosis and affordable..Update: Eric came through for me once again after my check engine light came on right before a major trip. 3 hours later I was on the road. Eric and his crew are masters. Aside from being patient and helpful with me when my transmission crapped out, they barely charged me anything after a full service because it was no good. But they got it well enough to get to the dealership for trade-in, and advised me on my new car purchase.They've also taken great care of every referral I've sent that way. Much love to their team. You gotta have a guy in this day and age. They are it.

Just talked to Eric over the phone today and he wasn t very friendly. Tried to get info about a regular car check-up (what it covers, cost estimate, etc), but he seemed really bored and fed up within a few minutes. The vibe I got was that he couldn t care less and wanted to get off the phone ASAP. Wouldn t recommend and won t be moving forward. Yikes.

These guys have made a new customer for life. Went in yesterday after a brake pad went out, not only did they do the service in a day they definitely kept the bill more than reasonable and were extremely helpful and thorough. Cannot recommend them enough. Eric and sons we're fantastic! Thanks again guys!

I booked a Uhaul online and came to pick it up as instructed. When I went to check in the mechanic, he told me to wait until the owner gets there. I asked why is that necessary when I already booked everything online and he said that the truck was suppose to be taken to Palm Desert and couldn t be checked out. After waiting 15 minutes for the owner, Eric to arrive, he parked his car in front of mine so I could not leave and began to tell me I couldn t take the truck (even though I rented it and paid for it online). I tried calling Uhaul corporate who also told him that the truck was rented to me and Eric still refused. He didn t offer any other options, just a flat out no. I would not recommend this business for renting a Uhaul, getting your car worked on or for anything. If you do, you have been warned. Uhaul corporate also said they will be investigating Eric and his business.

Very honest and straightforward. I went in with what I thought was a transmission problem. The mechanics diagnosed the problem quickly and accurately. I had 3 broken engine mounts and my car was ready for pick up the next day. The final bill was the total they initially quoted. Everyone was really nice and friendly. My 4 year old son said "I liked those guys that fixed our car!"

Started going here 5 years ago... the owner is a dedicated family man who looks you in the eye and tells you like it is. If you re lucky you ll get to meet one of his kids. Warning! Don't use EasyPay! If you don't pay your bill off in full in 90 days your bill is DOUBLED. Yes, doubled. Do Not Use EasyPay!Also, Eric seems to think the world revolves around what he thinks is right and what he wants to do with no regard for his customers. So when he first chats you up -- and he will -- don't believe a word of what he says. Understand that he may or may not know what he's doing, how/where to get parts, etc., but he isn't always as right as he thinks he is.I'll never set tire or foot at that place again. I think the five star reviews were written by Eric's friends. They can't possibly be true. And fake reviews are the cheapest kind of "advertising."

I found south bay auto repair and transmission and am glad I did. I came in there the first time expecting to pay a lot of money and walked out paying nothing another place told me I had an electrical short when all I had was a bad fuse Eric changed the fuse and charged me nothing. Eric is honest and explains everything. The next time I needed some breaks. I lucked out they were running a special for 120. plus tax. south bay auto repair has a customer for life.

I had rebuilt the engine and transmission 18 years ago when my dad passed the car to me ! So with maybe 4000 miles I was in denial of needing a transmission again ! South Bay Auto Repair , had great comments on the internet and I agree ! He with experience knew within moments I needed a transmission and also that he would only be able to referee me ! Yet took the extra 15 minutes plus to help me understand why ! A 1966 Mustang Convertable that's been in the family and one day will be my daughters . He just did the right thing invested in the community!

A+ service I went in there thinking I was going to need a new car after putting the wrong kind of gas in my tank and Eric is so honest he saved my car and my fuel pump and injectors he was able to clean it out and get it running like nothing ever happened. Thank you Eric for everything.

Came in to get my gas nozzle fixed and was very satisfied with the experience...very quick service and when I pulled in I was greeted immediantly which is great customer service...would definitely recommend
