Brought in my Toyota Corolla to get a catalytic converter installed since mine unfortunately got stolen. And I must say they were quick and efficient in just a day my car was ready. Great customer service as well!

They are the real deal muffler shop. They have a bunch of experience, and their weld are top-notch. They take their time and will have you right in no time. I highly recommend this place. I've been coming here for years!

Long story but I'll try and be brief!! DOWNTOWN MUFFLER is AMAZING!!! I have an Audi A6, and my car started sounding like a motorcycle and lawn mower had a child, I was crushed and was searching all over for someone to fix what had my baby sounding like this. I went all over The Bay and found this one place that worked on Audis and they wanted $1k for a new muffler and I was going to pay it, because I was desperate to have a quiet, smooth car again. The guy said the part was coming but didn't come all day, so Wednesday I just looked for a muffler place and Downtown muffler was close to my job and let me tell you from the moment I walked in I knew I was in the right place!!! It was good energy, I didn't feel like they were trying to take advantage of the situation. Not only were they friendly, they were knowledgeable and explained the problem,(broken flex pipe) how they'd remedy it and how much time it would take. Jack explained about the flex pipe being broken and then a bit later Skip went into further detail on the new part they were putting on and how it wouldn't be so flimsy, the part's purpose and reassured that they'd have me out in 30 mins. Timothy did the welding and Samantha worked the office. Samantha was also great and gave me some good info of where I can get some good Wild caught Salmon. These people are THE BEST, great service and fair price way less than the $1k . They even gave me a name of the mechanic they send all their customers to if I wanted a good mechanic to work on other needs for my car if they ever came up, if he is anything like them, he'll have a long term customer with me. Thanks again for everything DOWNTOWN Muffler yall are a real life saver !! If you have exhaust system or muffler issues go see these great people you will not be sorry!!!!

This place the Shhhhit... The Owner, his crew is So Awesome... I had some work to do in Union City and after my daughter's bday. The plan was to go to Santa Cruz for her 10th Birthday and I had decided to stay one more night at our Hotel, big Shotout to the GM...We left our kids in the hotel, to go watch a movie next door at the Theater and about 25 mins into it, our Son calls, telling us the Cops there and then my Son gave the Officer the cell and told me, my Catalytic Converter was cut off my truck... Needless to say, we didn't finish movie, which should of... I talked to the GM and he, out of his own Pocket gave me $$$$ to get it fixed. So I called around, given it was a Friday, alot of places said Monday or they didn't have one... But Jose, from another shop gave me their information and I called and talked to Skip, Solid guy btw, and sings and plays guitar pretty good... He to was closing soon and understood the issues I was having, he said he would call the Owner and get back to me and or Owner did about an hr later, after his haircut and had two options and knew of my $$$ being tight because of my daughter's bday... He had a Converter for 2k or the aftermarket for $800... I told him, Ill give him $1200, which was what I was given and it helped his awesome crew, who stayed almost 2 hours after close for me to get my truck over there...Skip was fast to, 25 mins new one and wrapped so they can't steal it again...You ever need services and your near by here, trust me, they will take care of you and in some circumstances, they will wait for you to... Mr. Owner and Crew Thank You, if I could give 10 Stars I would... You helped Save my Daughter's 10th bday and We made it to Santa Cruz and SF... God Bless all of You...

I came to downtown muffler to have my exhaust system connected to my Sanderson headers. Skip did an awesome job. The weld were nice and the bends were great. Definitely coming back again when I decided to get a new exhaust system.Come to downtown muffler if you want quality work and great customer service. Thanks Jack and skip!

2 to 3 daysTo replace a Catalytic Converter is a Lie!2 to 3 hours is the average time.Told this AFTER receiving my DEPOSIT and Parts.....Samantha admitted to me that they do not have a Qualified legal mechanic on-site to replace my catalytic converter. She said my car may sit on the rack a couple of days waiting for Muhammad to come in. Coliseum Lexus will be replacing my Catalytic Converter on Monday in 3 Hours. I have a dispute with my credit card company to get my Deposit back. You will not get it back without a legal Battle. I was Screamed at over the phone. Later apologize to saying he had the wrong Person. Went in to get my card credited back for my Deposit and got Cursed Out again. So getting Screamed at and Cursed Out is common here if you don't agree with them. The Better Business Bureau page has a review by, Manuel M one of their customers 28 days ago. July 23, 2023. His Catalytic Converter was NOT installed properly. He was Cursed Out too. The 4.4 Rating is for Services they are Qualified to do.Installing Catalytic Coverters is Not something they are Certified under the law to do According to Samantha.

Just bought a car out that way tonight the thing had a problem with the exhaust I called with very little time to spare they took me in and fixed up the exhaust really nice so my new car is quite again way to go guys your awesome ..thanks Honda job

$190 down payment just to order a part, after 3 months waiting, they now say we have another 2 months to wait but did not communicate or update us until we called them when nothing happened on the day of expected repair. I worry that they probably did receive the part but put it into someone else s car because we weren t being the squeaky wheel .Asked for a refund - they refused.Asked for a temporary fix - they don t have parts and could not recommend where to find the alternate part.Asked for other shops who could help - refused to suggest other shops.One star for not delivering on service, for poor customer service, for taking money and not refunding when unable to deliver on service, for not being a team player to find a solution.I recommend not using this business.Downtown muffler, if you read this, please reach out and find a solution. These guys are the best!!Best prices. They know what they are doing and are very reliable.They have worked on all my vehicles from my lexus is300, Infiniti G37 & my jeep truck.I recently had to do on o2 sensor change on one of my cars and when I went it, they did it free of charge!!Awesome people & best prices in the easy bay!Services: Transmission, Air & cabin filter replacement, Exhaust, Tires, Steering & suspension repair, Electrical, Auto engine diagnostic, Body & Trim, Brakes, Auto emissions testing, Air conditioning, Battery, Oil change

My last 3 trucks I've had, I have brought them to DTM to have my Borla exhausts installed. They do great work and over the years, they're prices stay pretty much steady where some of other places want to charge double the prices. The owner and the staff like what they do so it's easy to talk to them about your wants and needs. Shot out to Skip for doing a clean job on my truck.Service: Exhaust

First thing is I had my Cat Back Exhaust put on by another muffler shop down the street!! Bad decision cause I ended up bringing it back twice and problem still was NOT resolved I was very disappointed and the customer service was horrible! So I was recommended to brought my to Downtown Mufflers and I spoke with shop owner Jack & it was all positive Vibes from the minute we started speaking! I had mention my issues and he said just leave it with him and it will be taken care of!! and man I'm a VERY Happy Customer!! So I highly recommend this place for custom exhaust work or any vehicle needs great prices too! Thank You Again Jack for taking great care of me & My Car! I will be back for sure.Service: Exhaust

I custom built a car in my garage and Jack contradicted some of the advise that I had gotten elsewhere and then explained why what he wanted to do was better.Workmanship was excellent, several tricky problems overcome as I watched.Old-school muffler shop that does exactly what I need, so perhaps you'll be happy there too?Nice people too.Service: Exhaust

I parked my car on a street. Came back a couple hours and started my car and I know: something wasn t sounding right?I stepped on the gas and I knew. Something was wrong. I looked under my car. And my part on my exhaust is missing. Jesus Christ..Never thought some body steal my converter but it happened to me. This place says it s common and happens every day.And This place recommended getting a catalytic converter guard. From napa. and will help install it at there labor cost. I m going with there recommendations. I hope this doesn t happen to me again. If your afraid of same thing happening to you. Ask them if they know any good recommendations,

Simple and honest. I was expecting perhaps a muffler replacement, but they have checked it out and said it was an "accordion" exhaust pipe. They showed me the item replaced, and they were good to work with. I thank them for a first time visit-if you have a loud sputtering, go first to this place! You won't be disappointed, esp. when they worked fast on the car.

The only reason I'm even giving one star is because a) I couldn't give zero stars and b) the assistant, Jack did a great job installing my stainless steel tips on my tail pipe.However, buyer beware because the owner, Scott told me when I purchased my tips that if there was any sort of problem to come back and they would handle it. After 4 days of use, lo and behold, the tips became badly stained. When I made them aware, he gave me a solution (that ended up not working) and said if it didn't work, come back in and he'd replace them.I showed up having tried his solution, and after avoiding me for about 5-10 minutes he acknowledges me, asks if the solution worked, and immediately followed that with the statement, 'well I'm not replacing them'.He then started swearing at me, raising his voice and telling me I needed to move because I was in the way of him making money, and how replacing my tips (as HE agreed to do) was going to cost him money.The situation was resolved because I simply wanted my tips and to be on my way, so when he said 'well I'll split the cost with you', I agreed.Mind you, this was not what was previously stated, so if you do business with Scott, beware.*update*On a whim, I brought my tips to P&S East Bay (a detailing shop) to see if they could do anything about my stained tips although I had already replaced them. The owner, Steve, came out with a bottle of metal polish, rubbed it on, and my tips looked brand new!I went back to downtown muffler to show Jack the easy solution, and Scott comes out and exclaims 'oh, that's all we had to do!?' while taking a picture of the product that was used.So, not only does he not know his own product, he clearly does not have the customer's best interest at heart.Did he offer an apology or my money back from splitting the cost with him to replace my tips? Also, no.

I brought my 2018 Chevy ragtop Camaro, 2.0 VVT turbo, over to get some rumble in the jungle, sounding exhaust. I didn t have too high expectations seeing the engine is a beefy 4-cyclinder, but boy was I pleasantly surprised!Jack (owner) and Skip were upfront with me that they had only done one other 4-cylinder (Mustang) for increasing the volume and my Chevy would be another chance to work on this unique use case.Something that was calming was Jack said if I wasn t satisfied they would weld back the muffler and just charge me $50.That was pretty harmless, so I Agee s to try it.They cut out the muffler and used two straight pipes (with three resonances), salvage and reused my nice exhaust tips.The result was what I had hoped for. The car started up and had a noticeable rumble and much nicer sounding, deeper tone both out and inside the car.Later I would hammer it and thoroughly enjoyed the new sportier sound. Keeping it real, it s not the throaty, super loud rumble like glass packs on a V8, but again, I love it!Price was a little more than I wanted to spend, but reasonable ($500).Skip and Jack are experts whom I trusted with my White Knight! Use these pros. You should be satisfied and pleased.Service: Exhaust

I just went here to get muffler delete today and the guy in the shop did a really good job on muffler delete and he was so friendly as well. Jessie did a great job, i had him do a dual quad on my 2014 W204. My Quad Tips were initially too big but Jessie worked his magic and it sounds badazz. The price was a little high but you get what you pay for! Definitely highly recommend.

Jack saw I was in a bind with an unexpected visit from the catalytic converter fairy and helped me out with the lowest bid, the most precise information on the discontinued converter, and which substitute converter would pass smog. He had it in stock when most others didn't. Traffic caused me to arrive as he was closing -he took me anyway, and showed me his weld work afterwards. I paid the least for the most. He took time to educate me when other shops didn't have a clear answer. I remain surprised at getting the best price from a professional, full-service industry leader. ~Eric from West Oakland

Jesse and Jeff are great and very professional, they did my brand new 2017 Honda Accord and it sounds amazing..They have been doing business for over 20 years and must I say I'm glad that I brought my car here.If your looking for a place to go for muffler etc work to be done this is the SPOT They work fast and get you out quick , great service and customer service

If you want bad customer service this is the shop for you . The owner was rude mean and doesn't listen to the customers. I called ahead and spoke with an employee. I told him the yr/make/model of my car and what product I was interested in he quotes me a price and says come on in first come first serve. I go to the shop and introduce myself the owner looked at me then at my car and said it will be a special more expensive order. I told him I called got a quote and everything then he called me a liar and said I never called the shop. I showed him my call log and duration of call. He gets upset yells at the employees and out of fear they denied talking to me. now he mumbles he doesn't want to work on my car then starts pushing cheaper products on me slamming them around the shop. SEE THIS SHOP RUN!!!!! IF you have a problem I don't think they will be willing to fix it without a FIGHT

Been trying to reach Scott for almost 2 weeks because it seems the replacement of my catalytic converter was either not done or not done right. I wanted to stay with my vehicle the first day I brought it into the shop but he recommended that I leave it - which I didn't want to do so I could understand what was happening with my vehicle. I even requested that my old catalytic converter be given to me once the repairs were done. The first day, where I could stay, he told me he couldn't get the catalytic converter off because he couldn't remove the bolts... I explained to him that in that case I had to wait because I flew to Los Angeles - and that's when he offered that I leave my car at his shop while I was away... I couldn't at first because my flight was very early in the morning but I was able to change it and decided to leave the care with him 2 PM on 2/18... I fly to Los Angeles and he calls me when I land in LA that my car was ready and could I pick it up... I explained I landed in LA and would not be able to pick it up until 2/21.... when I arrived on 2/21, I picked up my car, the check engine light was off and I drove it to a smog center. After testing the car, the smog center said the car would not pass and I needed to drive it more.... Well I drove it almost 100 miles, more than what the dealership had recommended I drive to see if the catalytic converter would start working... I drove it back to the smog center and it still did not pass... Shortly thereafter the check engine light came on and I left him a message saying that something went wrong with the repairs. I texted him as well... I called him two more times and he still has not answered his phone... Way uncool... I think what upsets me more than anything is the lack of communication... It's ok if you make a mistake or if perhaps something is wrong with the part you used... these things happen... but when you do not communicate, the only thing I can assume is that you tried to deceive me... I usually do not do reviews unless the experience is "that good" or "that bad" and I think this one qualifies... Hayward is a very small town and I'll make sure people know my experience...
