From their kind "It sounds like you're in a bit of a pickle so why don't you bring your car in and we'll see if we can help you out." response to my panicked phone call to the ride back to my group and fashioning a workaround to get me back on the road when the part they had wasn't quite right, I could not be more grateful for Doug and Mike at NCAS! What quality mechanics AND human beings. I'm so glad theirs was the first number I tried when my car lost all it's coolant while I was responsible for 6 little people on a class field trip from Truckee. BIG thanks and a lifetime of gratitude! Look no further if you need help with your vehicle.

This mechanic shop is great!My engine light started blinking 10 minutes into my drive this morning and I was stranded in the middle of nowhere on Memorial Day! After calling a bunch of closed shops these guys were open and willing to squeeze me in to help me out. Mike was great at explaining the problem and answering all my questions, they even showed me the broken parts on my van. I'll be able to get back on the road by the end of the day! I really appreciated the service and willingness to help out especially when most other shops were closed for the holiday or unable to help me quickly!

I was traveling in town for a weekend seminar with a new-to-me stick shift when there was suddenly no pressure in my clutch. seemed like the slave cylinder had a leak. I called ALL the shops in the area and was lucky enough to finally connect with Mike whom had a last minute cancellation.On-boarding was seamless over the phone, and automated with text message appointment confirmation giving me access to all the information I needed to give my tow truck driver in a convenient form.Hospitality was excellent, service was swift, fairly priced, and performed with care. 10/10 recommendServices: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic

NC Auto is a rare and uncommon find in the Nevada County auto service trade. The owner, Mike Pennock, runs a very tight shop with a vigilant, watchful eye on each and every service being performed by his mechanics. Mike literally gives the same care and attention to his customers' cars as he does to his own vehicle.NC Auto recently sent the first exhaust manifold they ordered for me back because it wasn t within spec. It meant taking a chance that my car wouldn t be back when I wanted it but they prioritize the quality of their work above all else and always do the job right. 95% of shops would have just thrown it in the vehicle and let me worry about it down the road.I have finally found a competent Nevada County auto mechanic that I can trust. Nevada City Auto is the best in town! Affordably priced, great service, kind, honest and the get the job done with haste and great quailty of work with only high quality parts! Whether you need routine maintence or a more complex issue these guys will get it done and done right. I have used Nevada City Auto service for over 20 years and have always been pleased with their great work. They go out of their way to get the job done and done right. It is essential to have a dependable auto mechanic, especially with the older cars we drive and I have found that in Nevada city Auto service. I love this place. they are always willing to help witha vechile as soon as they can. And take their work to heart . Have saved me money and take safety in concern and I really appreciate them pointing things out like that not only for myself but because of my son. They want to do the best job out there and also want to make your car run good and last you as long as possible. Thanks Nevada city auto service

I live in Southern California & my single daughter lives in Nevada City. It's hard as a woman to find any mechanic shop that's going to treat you right & fair. This place has far exceeded my expectations of any auto shop. Joe has been instrumental in ensuring that my daughtersd cars will be fixed and at a very decent price. I cannot express just how much I'm impressed with Nevada City Auto. Now my daughter has a go to mechanics shop to get all her cars needs met to keep her and my granddaughter safe on the road!!

My go-to auto shop ~ Mike and his crew are honest, professional, and diligent. I ve been able to call in a jam and have my car towed there for a quick turnaround to get back on the road, and at an affordable rate too!

Coming through Nevada City on vacation, our truck developed an electrical problem. They not only let us park our trailer in their back lot overnight, they got it in the shop at 8 a.m. the next morning, found the problem, got it fixed and had us on the road by 11 a.m. They could have sold us a replacement alternator, but found the specific part and had it repaired at an alternator shop for less than half the cost of a new alternator. Their shop is clean, all the mechanics helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend their services to anyone living near or passing through Nevada City/Grass Valley, CA. We came in with a flat tire and the steering wheel was off and asked if they could check the tire. They charged us35 dollar for putting some air in the tire and tighten the velve. 5 minutes work but they let us wait for over half an hour.We drove of and the car started shaking because the front wheels were out of line. He completely missed the fact that the wheels and steering wheel were off. We had to go to another shop to get it fixed.Go to Douglas. They are nice over there.

Check engine light came on after 10 hour road trip. Have to leave again later today. When I called they said they were too booked to work on it (a sign of a good mechanic)... :) but they would able to squeeze me in to at least check the code and tell me if I can keep going on my trip - which they did free of charge. Really nice guys. Highly recommended.

This shop is a joke. They have eight bays and one mechanic. The one job they did for me failed within two months. I went back to them to do another simple job (only because I wanted them to fix the problems with first job) and after driving in for my appointment, I come to find that they had never even ordered the part and they want me to come back in. Nope. There are a ton of auto shops in this area. It s not hard to find one that will actually get the job done, and with good customer service to boot.

For a multitude of reasons, I found out several years ago this is the best auto shop I have ever done business with.With 4 cars and several years of relying on them to find and do all the repairs, I have never been let down!All with a genuine smile on their faces as they greet you and say good bye.Old fashioned values , hard to find ANY business like this these days!

We were passing through and had trouble with our rear axle leaking fluid. These guys got us in right away and back on the road. Great service!
