Just had a complete transmission rebuild by AAMCO in Freemont. Totally pleased with Isaac and his crew of professionals on workmanship and costs. Stay with the transmission specialist!

Came in for the free brake inspection service and walked out disappointed and offended. My partner and I are queer, trans, and a bit femme presenting, so I strongly believe that influenced (who I believe is) the owner's actions. What he did was ultimately over-explain not in a helpful way, but in a way that showed he thought we do not know anything.I drove here all the way from Berkeley to get this inspection done, because during a call with the Oakland location they said they did not offer anything beyond a visual inspection without charging a fee. On the phone with this Fremont location, I went over each point listed on the AAMCO site such as ABS checking, fluid lines, etc, and the person on the other end of the line confirmed and agreed they will do all those things.Instead what actually I got was him pointing his flashlight around the rotors and telling me what I already knew, that the pads need to be replaced. After that, it became like a checkmate to him. He refused to go any further with the inspection and stated that I would have to replace the pads and rotors first before he would go any further. I can see he wants to make money (he complained to a coworker that the shop isn't making money - hmm I wonder why), but that is not the way. Shops give free things to try to gain happy customers, but if one offered a free burger and you only receive a piece of lettuce (feels like a good comparison), then you too would probably never come back and leave a review expressing your grief.Another prime example of him showing he thinks we did not know any better explained ahead. On the phone I asked if they could check for any loose suspension bolts because there is a rattle and I don't have a spot to jack up the car to check myself. The other end of the line said they would do it without a problem. After the poor service he gave, I brought up that fact because I didn't want to leave empty handed. I told him about the rattle and it took a few attempts to tell him there is in fact a rattle and not any other suspension noise. It isn't hard to diagnose a rattle when you're not a seasoned mechanic, but he didn't think so and it took me giving a dictionary example of what "rattle" means. He proceeded to reluctantly check and apparently struck gold, because he then latched onto the fact that my cv joint boot is torn and said my car is done for and shouldn't be driven. From that point on I knew he was trying to take advantage of someone with minimal knowledge or just is a really bad mechanic, because I already knew that and have been told by several mechanics it is not a problem to drive several thousand miles with a torn boot before it goes. I proceeded to tell him I already know about the axle needing to replaced and that the sound is happening on the other side of the car, not where he was standing, but his mind was already made up.I was able to clock he just has a really strong ego, so I lied and told him I'd come back once I saved up in order not to leave a hostile situation after declining his help. Will be finding another shop that will actually follow through. I'm also really disappointed because I've had several people tell me AAMCO is worth going to, but judging from what happened at 2 locations, the shop owners can run it however they like. Scary.. when a name is that trusted.

We were have troubles with our 2002 Chevy Monte Carlo. Went to three different mechanics and all said we needed a new transmission. Estimates varied between a $6,000 - $9,000. Two of my friend recommended AAMCO in Fremont. I met with Isaac and he advised me that they would need to perform a diagnostic test to determine what needed to be repaired. The test would cost $140.00 but if I went with them that cost would be waived. They recommended rebuilding the transmission with Chevrolet/GM parts. They ordered the parts from Detroit and it did take a couple weeks for all the parts to be received. However, every step of the way, Isaac keep me posted on the progress. The total cost was $3941, which included a 12 month or 12,000 mile guarantee. After the transmission was installed they took the car for a 160 mile test drive to insure everything was in order. Isaac requested after 10 days, we should take the Monte back for another test drive, which we did. Everything is like brand new and it is gratifying to receive service like the good old days. I would definitely recommend AAMCO to anyone who needs a transmission repair.Service: Transmission

I took my 2018 Toyota Corolla about a month ago to this place . All I took it for was a transmission oil change . That is what I thought it was wrong with my car . Bc it was making a wired noise around the engine. Mohammed asked me what service I needed done and I told him a transmission oil change . Than he explained the process to me and I agreed to it . A couple of minutes later he came back and told me that the noise I was hearing was bc my water pump needed to be replaced. And the oil too . So I asked how much will it cost for the repairs and he quoted me about a $1000 less than a Toyota dealer ( btw I knew already what was wrong with my car ) so i said go head . And after 24,hr later I had my car back to normal. I m happy with the job they performed. Unfortunately not every job will go smooth as other . But I do recommend this place . Just make sure you listen and understand what they are telling and the risk that might occur after or before the job is done . If you sign the agreement. Than you re giving them permission to work on your car . And you know what will be the consequences.Service: Transmission

I went to this place to get my transmission replaced. The work was done. I took my car with a warranty in hand. A week later I had drove to Sacramento for the holiday and the transmission blew again. I called and spoke with the employees and they said I had to pay to have it towed from Sacramento to Fremont. I was furious to say the least. $3000 later and I have no car and a repo due to this companies negligence and very unprofessional behavior. They gave me a faulty transmission, would not pay for my tow to have it looked at and I believe his name is Isaac told me just to drive the car for two hour increments until I got to Fremont. Well that did not work and he knew it wouldn't. At that time I was a homeless, single mon who just lost everything due to domestic violence and He and Muhammad knew it because my native tribe paid for the service to be done. This is a place ran by scam artists. Please do yourself a favor and get your car repaired elsewhere. Where it will be fixed right and you will be treated with the respect you deserve.Service: Transmission

I came here for a new transmission and I am disappointed. Do not use this AAMCO. My van is shifting very hard when I shift into gear PRND. It does not shift properly when I speed up. This was supposed to be a brand new transmission and I have to keep returning to AAMCO for them to check it and make adjustments to the transmission. I am not satisfied with their service. I don't believe they have professional mechanics. After they kept making adjustments to the transmission other caution warning symbols showed up on the display panel. They wanted me to pay more money for mistakes they made to my vehicle. The mechanic and the manager(Issac) told me that my vehicle is supposed to shift hard and that it's normal to shift hard when gears are shifted from Park Reverse Neutral and Drive after getting a new transmission. My vehicle never did that before I brought it to them. I believe they only care for money and not service to vehicles. Every time they check it there's still no difference in how the transmission operates. The mechanic there complained to the manager about rechecking the transmission. And still my transmission is not operating correctly. What can I do to get this problem fixed? I spent too much money for a new transmission and it still does not operate correctly. Who ever is the OWNER of this AAMCO shop Fremont CA 3670 Thorton Ave. please help me. The warranty I have is not helping me or my vehicle. Owner of this shop please help me to have a real new transmission put in my vehicle. I don't want to be cheated out of my money and have a vehicle that does not work correctly. The service I received was not right and I don't trust the manager or the mechanics. Do not take your car here. Also, to the OWNER and everybody else, Issac made me prepay over a $1,000 to buy the parts before my vehicle could have service done to it. That was very time consuming and they did not offer car rental discount or complimentary vehicle to use while they had my vehicle in the shop. This AAMCO is a very bad place to get your vehicles fixed or repaired. Owner of this AAMCO please help I lost a lot of money and left with a vehicle with extra problems. This shop likes money, but not satisfying customers. No stars.Service: Transmission

I have a 2021 Amg c43 coupe and my brake pads were making a lot of noise, they replaced them efficiently, they also fixed and added a new front grille per my request, and a spoiler and it only took about 5-6 hours, really respectful front desk and efficient staffServices: Body & Trim, BrakesServices: Body & Trim, Brakes

Didn't bleed my brakes properly and I almost got into an accident because of it. They also tried to charge for me stuff that didn't need to be done. Do not go here, horrible place to take your car. If they hadn't tried to over charge me and oversell me on stuff I didn't need they would have my business and made lots of money off of me but because they tried to con me they get nothing and a bad review on top of it. Avoid this place. Go to leadfoot automotive on high street or Big discount tire pros on Fremont blvd next to Washington high school.

The Aamco's out here in CA well the 2 I have been to are great. Both the stores in Oakland, and Fremont went above what I expected to help me out on my car. I ended up saving a lot of money and the staff seem very experienced in helping you out to fit in my schedule not necessary theirs. This guys are perfect I will keep coming back to them for a long time. Thanks guys

Paul is the manager and is always very helpful in explaining exactly what needs to be done.I have brought my vehicles to Aamco for some time now and every time they have resolved my mechanical issues. They are fast and efficient and pricing is reasonable. I would recommend Aamco to my friends and family.

Best visit to a mecahnic shop ever. They told me up front what they could do for no charge inspection, and any cost's incurred if older than 1995(which would be taken off the bill if you have the work done there), then when they completed their initial inspection I was told upfront, what the cost would be for initial repairs; and if anything else was found they would inform me.Something else was found, and I was invited down to see the discovered problem with my vehicle while it was on the rack. It was nice to be able to see the problem, and not incur any additional costs(they would still fix the original problem at no new cost; but i was given the chance to have additional repairs done on clutch without the added fee of dropping tranny to get to problem,,, since tranny was already dropped to fix leaky seals.)Best overall service and really fair price. They were able to work with me on paying and even fixed a few minor problems that never found there way on to bill.Gonna bring all my vehicles here from now on.

Please do yourself the favor and go to marks transmission this place hassles you badly. Inaccurate diagnosis that wasn t in depth at all. Didn t even get under the pan and very secretive about what was actually done to my car. Surprisingly a lot of miles were put on the test drive too, which I found odd.
