We stayed here three nights and loved it. The host, Kai, was friendly, personable and helpful. The pasture was so beautiful to look at across the street. Our spot on the grass was grassy and level. The location was so excellent, being 5 miles from the beach in one direction, and less than a mile to downtown. The showers were the best we ve had in the four months of traveling. Boiling hot and very clean.

Always a good time! Love living here. Hore racing, daily events & entertainers, music, vendor booths, carnival rides, games to play and yummy, huge variety of foods & drink. A Humboldt County tradition, 10 days of family fun to be enjoyed by everyone. A must go to at least once while you're in the area.

Camp host is the worst we have ever encountered, and if you look at how many places we have reviewed that says a lot! When I was examining the site to figure out pulling in, she came out with a grouchy attitude and a scowl on her face. My wife got a bad vibe from just seeing her and requested I ask the office staff to assign us a different site. The office staff was so friendly that I was fine with asking for a site further away from the host. They switched us from site 4 to site 54. I pulled the trailer to the back of the park and was starting to back in when my wife said I was going to hit something. This confused me because it was an empty field. The camp host had driven extremely fast up on my blind side!!! After almost causing an accident she snapped at me that I was in the wrong site. Like I would be stupid enough to confuse the sites when I had already looked at the sites on foot . She was rude, and super grumpy. She tried to say the site we had picked was no good and we were going to get stuck. My wife was standing in the site and would have alerted me if it was soft. Then the "host" said we were too long and would stick out, which was false. For some reason she really didn't want us over there, not sure if it was a power trip or if she wanted to keep an eye on us. Either way she was rude. She nastily said if we got stuck we would have to pay to get towed out. First off we carry supplies to not get stuck and have towed our trailer in every continental state in mud, sand and more. Second off, who would think that someone else would pay for a tow? If I call a tow truck, I pay for it so her premise was dumb. So then the host figured out we were just going to take the spot the office had allowed us to take and she starts to back up quickly directly towards my wife and youngest child!!!! When I pointed out to her that there was a child back there she state, 'well they better get out of the way!' So unprofessional and not acceptable. I will be emailing the county commissioners about this incident. So if you are going to stay here, avoid the "host" and try to talk with the staff. Also, there is a dump station in the fairgrounds proper you can use on your way out.

We loved staying there. Showers were clean and hot. The camp host was super rude and judgemental at first. We were kind and quiet so she eventually calmed down a little.

Camp host, Kai, was sweet and really easy to book with. Showers and bathrooms were hot and clean. Grounds were very well maintained. Called the day before and was able to get a huge grassy spot for the 1 night we needed. We re a couple with 2 dogs & a 38.5 5th wheel with a long bed dually. We had no issues pulling in or out. Dump station is located inside the fairgrounds, we didn t need it but it s nice to know it s included with your stay. For $35 night we will definitely stay again the next time we re passing through. 30amp & water at campsite. Beautiful sunsets and you have to try the No Brand Burger Stand around the corner!

Was so happy to find this place in Ferndale so close to the ocean and they had plenty of space of three day weekend 3 nights per month for tents at $20 a night or $35 a night for rv/trailer and much longer stay.

It is a safe enough leave place to stay but a little dirty and there was some sort of warning siren that went off 4 times in the middle of the night. For $20 it was not quite worth it.

The camp host is a witch. We have been going to Ferndale over 30 years and have always had a great experience. In the past few years this is not the case. This camp host makes you feel so unwelcome. She literally lectures you where you can or cannot place your RV and she complains about the size of our RV while it is only 29 . All the while she is lecturing you she is blowing cigarette smoke in your face. We ended up leaving because she was so nasty. This is our third experience with this host. The fair needs to get rid of her before she completely ruins RV tourism in Ferndale.

Spent 5 hours on Saturday at this fair and had a great time. Friendly folks, lots of racing (dogs, pigs, horses) and beautiful, interesting animals to see.

There was lots to do and see! I didn't expect so many vendors, a ton of great food, exhibits and crafts. I enjoyed just walking around and looking. The local bakery, Patches Pastries was delicious! They had a preformer, Mad Chad, he was funny and talented. There was carnival rides and games too. I was no too impressed with the rides, a lot of them seemed pretty sketchy. My 7 year old was either too tall or too young for most of them. The attendants we're nice.

We have stayed at this facility for years. We have always had a great experience until this last one. This camp host is not accommodating at all. She walks her dog around everywhere letting him hike and poop where ever he wants and she don t clean it up. Also not having the big bathrooms open with that many people camping there is ridiculous to say the least. Also the bathrooms weren t very clean either. We paid to camp Sunday through Tuesday and ended up packing up and leaving Monday early afternoon. I wouldn t have even clicked one star if I had the option.

Great to have the Fair back! It was smaller, and with fewer everything, thanks to COVID. They had a pink poodle show that was fun,a snake show that was very interesting, and as always The FOOD! Art, animals, flowers, crafts, and horse racing. Looking forward to seeing it bigger and better next year!!

What a great time! Our West Redding 11U All Stars stayed there for this past week. Kai (camp host) was super! The other campers were interested in our story. Ball games weekend day and evening during the week. Wiffle ball, cornhole, family/group dinners, s mores and more. Clean restrooms/showers for the dirty kids . 10 minutes to a great beach. We even got to use a baseball field in the fairgrounds for batting practice. Can t thank Kai enough for her support and assistance throughout. (Patience also ).

We have stayed at the fairgrounds three times now. It's a fairgrounds so keeping that in mind, it's convenient for us as a quick spot to stay when in the area to visit friends. Price is reasonable for sites with hookups and restroom with showers. The restrooms however are in horrible condition, they are badly in need of upgrading. All fixtures are significantly corroded and it is very worn out.

Wish I could leave zero stars! I can t believe they charge 20$ for this place for dry camping ..Camp host is in a perpetual bad mood, the crankiest person ever. Lights so bright over car sleep was difficult, the constant sound of screaming kids everywhere didn t help too much either. This is essentially a long term mobile home park, fenced in and small so you feel like you re in a zoo. I know camping possibilities are tricky on the coast, but do yourself a favor and SKIP this one, seriously.

Went on Senior Citizens day and got in for free. Local exhibits of art and fabrication are always interesting to see. Food vendors are various and the food tasty. Horse racing always fun.

The grounds are fine, a bit boggy in the winter. The real treat is the hostess. Her character surpasses any I have met in all my travels. I will list a few of her more stellar qualities for you:First is her gracious nature in wanting to share with you. As a chain smoker and recipient of recurrent infections her generosity is on full display as she coughs all over any in her vicinity taking special care not to cover her mouth or wear a mask.Second is her unique ability to be in her car at the exact moment needed, ready to chase down visitors that you might have coming into the park (all though to be fair she does that to the guests too) to let them know she doesn t like where they ve parked or why they are there, information she likes to share with other guests in the parkThird is her Napoleanna interest in delivering instructions to all guests (even when there s no discernible reason) as to what is and isn t allowed in the park and exactly what it is the guest has done wrong. As she seems to derive some sort of primal joy from from said activity I m sure it s something you wouldn t want to deprive her of.Fourth and last is her eminent charisma, a unique example of how incredibly unpleasant one could be and yet still retain her position as sheriff (her words) of the park. I ve never met a camp host who is unable to either smile or exchange pleasantries (although again to be fair) her blathering on about her health issues, her ex husband and personal information about what she s done with men in the privacy of her home could be considered bonding by someAs I m sure many of you will visit the fairgrounds to enjoy your vacation or to partake in the local activities, well this is one spectacle I m sure you won t want to miss.

Disgusting!Very expensive at 35 dollars for this DIRTY place! We have a campervan and the only thing we needed was just to fill up water and use the shower. However the bathroom has not been cleaned for ages, no camphost around, bins were overflowing and shady people were hanging around. The only toilet for men was clogged. So disgusting!Would not come back if I would get payed for it.

We had a lot of fun at the fair! It was the first time we've been to the horse races here.

The campground is first come, first served and still fairly busy at this time of year. It's also no generator use, but not a problem for our class A with solar. So we chose to stay in the grass field with no hookups for $20/night instead of $35/night for water and electric only on a gravel pad. For $45/night you can camp on the paved road with water and elec. Everyone has to use the dump station. Non-campers pay $10 for that, but it was included in our nightly fee. They just got a camp host. The recycling dumpster needed emptying, but others weren't full. Didn't really use the bathrooms, so can't comment on that. The doggie stations had no bags in them. It was nice to walk around the fairgrounds and check out all the buildings.Avenue of the Giants is a nice drive through the redwoods. We went to the theater in Fortuna and got $6.50 matinee seats and free refills on pop and popcorn for the large sizes. The local pizza shop in Ferndale is excellent, but check their hours before going as they might be closed certain days due to staffing shortages.

Terrible. Noisy all through the night. Disrespectful neighbors camping in their RVS. I can hear them yelling and screaming in the night. Blasting dance music in the morning. Rooster right next to the campground crowing at 5am. Couldn t sleep. Terrible experience.

The camp host has a sick sense of humor. He was very rude when I was asking for a dry camping spot. I was shocked by his insulting and mocking remarks when I was asking very simple standard questions about the rules and procedures of the park. I can t deny that $12 for a Boondocking spot in this area is a steal. Keep in mind that if you are dry camping, you aren t even let in the park and you re asked to park on the asphalt parking lot. The camp host was very unclear as to whether generators were allowed or not. He said he didn t like the sound but as long as he couldn t hear them you could probably top off your battery during the day. Very safe and quiet campground.

The host has a dark sense of humor but he's obviously a good guy and he really made me laugh. I think people are too harsh regarding unfriendliness. He actually did say I could park on the grass if I wanted to even though I was dry camping. $12 for a hot shower and free wifi is pretty amazing.

Good plan B if you haven't reserved a campground me nths in advance. Old school county fairgrounds. On the outskirts of Ferndale, an old Victorian town. Cool weather during hot summer weather. Not fancy but inexpensive and the best fairgrounds RV site we've stayed at.

Good location. Friendly folks. Nice price. 30 amps only. Most sites grass; however, I came at a non-busy time and they let me park on the side of the asphalt and plug in over into the grass. Otherwise no wifi. No cable. Fairly bare bones but the main thing is to provide an inexpensive alternative.
