The good news first: The hotel is well-located and it has free breakfast. It was OK for a night. However, this hotel is in no way up to the standard for the brand. The hotel is being renovated, and there are some old run-down rooms as well as some newly renovated rooms. However both the renovated rooms and old rooms are not well-maintained.I was first put in a very old room with a broken desk chair, with light switches and furniture in poor condition. This room was directly adjacent to an open construction area (no hard barricade), but I had not been informed that construction was going on at the property either prior to check in or on my arrival.Upon requesting to change rooms I was given a spacious, newly renovated room - however it too had some issues: Most of the TV channels showed "no signal" (not very important); It had no hotel phone (a basic safety issue!); and I discovered in the morning that the fridge had not been plugged in - so it spoiled the food I had placed in the fridge the night before.Another item that is really weird is that the sinks are outside the bathroom, right adjacent to the entry door. So if you are sharing a room with someone you use the toilet, open the bathroom door with dirty hands, and THEN wash them? That's pretty icky. I was staying alone, so this wasn't an issue - but no way would I want to use this bathroom as a shared space.I've stayed in hundreds of IHG properties all over the world. This is the worst experience I've had in one. All in all I would not stay here again.

Hotel knowingly overbooks rooms and it is first come first served to get a room. We got there around 6:45 with a reservation made 3 weeks ago. Told we had to wait until 8. I said how is there a room in over an hour but not now. Front desk said it is a trucker room with a double, not what we reserved, and they rent those out in time blocks so we would have to pay more for it. I said no thanks. I asked for her to cancel the reservation and I would like a print out showing it is canceled. The printer suddenly broke. Now I'm waiting to see if they still charged my card. The parking lot is full of broken down cars, motorhomes with generators running and people living in them-I did not feel safe. Manager was at the front desk with no name tag and refused to give her name. She said IHG is aware of the state of the hotel and to not bother complaining. Ended up driving to Chico for a room at the Hampton Inn. Cheaper, cleaner, residential neighborhood, and the staff actually cared.Safety: Not safe. Rooms rented by the hour ( or timeblocks as we were told).Walkability: Would not chance it. Parking lot and street were full of homeless.Noteworthy details: Overbooked and don't care. Rooms are first come, first served.

I arrived here late the other night without a reservation wondering if they had a room available. Becky at the front desk was extremely helpful and kind. I couldn't have asked for a better experience after a long day of work and then driving for several hours. My room was on the second floor, very quiet and clean. Comfortable bed and pillows. A good size room. The breakfast in the morning was so good! I was pleasantly surprised at all of the options, hot and cold. Everything from biscuits and gravy, and cheese omelets, to bagels/muffins, yogurt, cereal, etc. The coffee was good too. Gal at the front desk that morning was also friendly and helpful with road conditions, didn't catch her name though.Overall I would recommend this place and I would stay here again.

Awesome remodel modern rooms. The rooms are very clean with new mattresses. I been coming here for 8 years on business trips and I have no complaints. My Trucking Company has been a customer of Holiday Inn for over 15 years. The staff is very professional. The water coming out of the shower is very clean, smells so good. There's a Safeway market store and coffee shops about 2 miles away. Also there's Arby's, McDonald's, and subway across the street from the hotel. Also the points I get on each stay are honor at other hotels thru IHG. Thank you Becky, Diana, Yury, Angy, Maribel, Lisa, and Jimmy.Rooms: The rooms have new mattresses, so comfortable.

Not as great as other Holuday Inn visits I've had at other properties. In remodel process, so there were a few issues which were frustrating.Rooms: Newly remodeled, "new" smell was overwhelming. No phones in rooms yet, so had to walk to front desk with questions. TV had problems with some stations as they weren't watchable. Maybe once remodel is done, everything will be better, just not for my visit.Food & drinks: Breakfast was great! Variety of good hot food, fruit, juices, ceral.

Very nice stay!! Front desk staff are amazingly helpful, friendly, and professional!! Breakfast was great every morning of our 9 night stay. Maintenance man is always busy and always smiling! Cleaning crew is constantly cleaning everything in hotel and had room service each day of our stay they did a wonderful job. Walking distance to different fast food and iron skillet restaurants is convenient. Stayed in the king suite and it was very roomy with comfortable bedding. Entire staff is the friendliest and most down to earth people we have ever had the pleasure of meeting at our many hotel stays. Thanks for going above and beyond for your customers.

This is fun. I dont think I've ever left a review before, but felt so stupid for booking this place I had to give it a shot. Here goes!Corning is far from a vacation destination, but even if you're just passing through, there are some things you should know before considering this particular hotel. First, the rooms are damaged, particularly the doors, the knobs of which are largely held together with electrical tape. The staff had to warn me that doors didn't open like others of its design, and a fellow guest helped me hone my "card-upward handle-pull technique". The bathroom door to our particular room was so swollen from moisture that it no longer closes. Our air conditioner randomly turned off with a loud "thud" sounds, which was startling to me, and moreso to my 9m/o daughter as she tried to sleep.Second, the smell is intense, like walls soaked in smoke covered with God knows, in a failed attempt at masking the old scent. The bathroom has mold growing on the ceiling and the shower head sprays like a hydrant hose on full blast..not the most soothing, but I'd imagine it's great for washing off caked dirt and grime if thats your thing. The toilet is gross. Blackness. And old pee around the base. The hot tub has giant crickets floating chilling, while the pool has itsmore than fair share of leaves and bugs floating as well as a filthy bottom. The halls and floors are dirty. I dont mean old and outdated, I mean, garbage on the ground. There's so much more. Its just awful, if you can, avoid it here....location ain't worth it. The staff are kind, no shade on them.

Room door was very hard to open, pulled handle up and down but it opened better if you snapped the handle quickly upwards. Wife got stuck it the bathroom because door jamb was not repaired properly from being broken in.Door wouldn't latch but had to be pushed from outside. Needless to say bathroom door stayed open.Exterior of the hotel has not seen a groundskeeper in a long time,I couldn't walk my dog anywhere without getting goathead burrs constantly getting stuck in her feet. The parking lot appears to be leased to Oak harbor trucking as about 15 tractors appear to all around.Hopefully this location gets cleaned up or taken over. The staff was very nice

I've been to a lot of Holiday Inn Expresses and this was probably the worst. There were roaches in the room, I could hear the guy above me walking around, the toilet ran all night, the shower and toilet were not clean, and I got sick from the breakfast. Yuck! The receptionist was wonderful - polite, worked quickly, informative, and very accommodating. She earned the 2nd star. Skip this place and drive to Chico.

Checked in this Hotel around 5PM was greeted by Diana she was absolutely Fabulous welcoming and thanking me for being a IHGmember. We asked for a quiet room and we were accommodated immediately. We came back to the Lobby a few hours later asking about restaurants in the area, again accommodating. We got up very early the next morning well before 6:30 when Breakfast starts and Erick was on the Desk he went out of his way to make us feel special we had a bowl of cereal and some yogurta couple of pieces of fruit and we were on our way.we were driving to Canada that day. If your Hotels could have a Diana and Erick train new recruits you would not regret it .They make that Hotel BetterThanks Peter and Carollyn Moretti

Still under renovation on the 4th floor but some rooms are available. We are the first group on the 4th floor in a newly renovated room. Room is clean, HVAC is strong, water pressure in bathroom could be stronger.Staff is friendly and helpful, and they greeted us as diamond elite members.A great stay.

The room was very large and spacious and very very very dated. It felt like we walked into a time warp. The lady at the front desk that set us up with the room was amazing!!! She was so helpful and kind. (Morning check out lady not so much- she obviously doesn't care about her work just getting paid). The AC sounded like it was going to roll itself right out the window it made a horrible noise half the night we had to finally turn it off in 100+ degree weather. The area is pretty run down and the trash all over is an eye sore. We didn't even sleep under the blankets it was kind of sketchy in the room. Our sink was leaking (we again told the morning front desk lady - no response really). We weren't looking for any compensation just letting her know we stayed - we paid - it was a place to sleep likely will not stay in another Holiday inn express unfortunately. (My 5 Star service rating is only for the evening lady that checked us into the room)

Great convenient location off the 1-5 with plenty of food options. The rooms are comfortable, clean and well maintained. They have large TVs with HBO. It's quiet for being off the interstate and you don't hear any trucks. Trucks aren't allowed in the hotel parking and it's not a truck staging area. The breakfast is plentiful. All staff was friendly and met our expectations.

I was prepared to write about the excellent customer service on check in except that it took a sharp nose dive in their inability to find a plunger to fix the toilet. I ended up finding one in two minutes after waiting an hour and fixing the problem myself. The evening staff never got back to me regarding the issue. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, and a nice breakfast was provided.

The location and service is the only thing this place can offer you. Its right off I5 freeway and it has several food locations walking distance to the motel. The front desk is very helpful and the room is very clean, you can smell the bleach when you walked into the room. Bed was nice and comfortable. The only bad part was the condition of the room and motel. Our bathroom had mold , with wallpaper falling of the wall. The couch needed repair and the back parking area had garbage everywhere you looked. The TV needed to be replaced because it had lines going through it as you watched anything. The front desk offered us another room because they couldn't give us a discount because we booked through Hotels.com. This place has potential, if someone cared enough for the property.

The last time I was in Corning I stayed at the best western. This time I stayed at Holiday Inn, and I really enjoyed my stay. The rooms smelled so clean, there is a complimentary breakfast everyday from 6:00am-9:00am, and parking is free. The only thing was that there's hardly ever someone sitting at the front desk after dark, they may be in a room in the back but not as easily available like most other hotels. Also, the shampoos in the bathrooms are shared, and I'm not sure if the surfaces of the bottles get cleaned between stays.Otherwise there are laundry rooms, and an elevator along with an ice machine and soda machine.
