Very honest shop. The engine light turned on and engine ran poorly. Next day, engine seemed to resolve itself. I took my Excursion there. They tested my injectors, FICM and connections and all passed. They didn t try to sell me anything regarding the engine. They did show me my front suspension that needed replacement. They changed my fuel filters too. I highly recommend this shop.

I recently bought a 2001 ram 2500 4x4 that needed a bunch of things sorted out to get it running correctly. I did some research and spoke with friends and all roads pointed to LCD as the place that knows these trucks best. First order of business was having them install a FASS lift pump, which they did a really good job on. They mounted it well above the bottom of the frame rail so it will be protected in-off road situations. They also managed to source a really nice Fleece sending unit to work with the FASS, and at a great price. Next, the steering was extremely sloppy and they recommended we replace the track bar and several other connections in the steering linkage with Moog components, since they have a lifetime warranty and are greasable. I really like that they didn t try to upsell me on some of the fancier front end components available for these 2nd gens - you can go overboard pretty quickly and the overbuilt parts can put too much stress on the surrounding parts and things will break. The truck has very little play now and I couldn t be happier with how it steers and handles. After that they tackled a gear-hunting issue I was seeing from 3rd / 4th on the auto transmission. They found oil-saturated electrical components on the transmission during the service and were 100% confident it was causing the issue. Sure enough, after replacing those parts the shifting issue is completely resolved. After that, they fixed a small diesel leak near the injection pump and changed fluids in the diffs and transfer case. Now the truck runs like new and is ready for anything. Even though LCD is nowhere near where I live, I will not hesitate to take my truck back there for whatever it needs in the future. Many shops in the Bay Area claim they know how to service a cummins (or any other diesel), but after making several calls and speaking with many mechanics, I didn t get the feeling that everyone is as familiar with these trucks as they claim to be. But after 1 minute on the phone with Ross at I knew it was the right place. Thanks guys!

Glad I took my truck somewhere else after looking at their estimate. They told me it would be between 4000 and 6000 to fix a sound coming from the front end of my truck. The price for the parts they quoted were at least double the cost of what I could find online for the exact same part. To make things much worse, their estimate included new front axle u joints, which after pulling apart and inspecting elsewhere, turned out to be just fine! The problem was actually just a bad wheel bearing, WHICH THEY DIDNT EVEN INCLUDE ON THE ESTIMATE! I will avoid this place at all costs and you might want to consider the same.

What a let down! They came highly recommended and I had heard nothing but good things. I chose them over a shop that has done great work for me that is located in Martinez. The turbo on my truck went out and it has been twelve days. They have had the turbo in hand for six days. I have been told that the truck would be ready three times and they have yet to deliver it. I have not received a single phone call from them. I have called them every time. I am writing this review while I wait for Left Coast Diesel to call me. I have a feeling it's not gonna happen today... AGAIN!!!Take your truck here if you want to be put off, lied to and you can wait a month for a ten hour fix.

My 2009 GMC Sierra 2500 with 363k miles had an odd high pitch sound when accelerating. I was conerned it could be transmission related $$$$. After seeking out advise from Preformance Auto where I take my gas vehicles, my tech recommend Left Coast Diesel. Fearful it was going to be an expensive fix I took it over there and met Robert. This guy was awesome he listened my concerns we took the truck for a test drive. He immediately thought it was exhaust related, after retuning back the shop one of us guys check under and sure enough it was an exhaust gasket, a $247 repair. Schedule an appointment for repairs and was fixed quickly, they even checked out all the hangers an repaired these too. Glad I have a trustworthy diesel mechanic!D Gardner, Martinez

We have been to 2 different Ford dealers as well as 2 independent shops to inquire about a loud hissing noise during acceleration or strain on the turbo / motor. Each told us the upgraded turbo is just loud, and not to worry about it. Left Coast Diesel, had our rig for less than 4 hours and was able to ascertain our the current intercooler had a crack in it. New improved aluminium intercooler installed, hissing noise gone! We could not be happier, thank you WCD!Services: Exhaust, Engine repair

Left coast found the problems with my fuel pumps when other auto services couldn't. After the repair during my 2000 mile trip a check engine fault came on. When I returned Left Coast found the problem and fixed it for no charge. It was a difficult error to resolve. They stand behind their work.Service: Engine repairService: Engine repair

Very professional and very courteous also very knowledgeable and fairly priced I called to ask some questions about my transmission for my truck and talk to the owner which is a very polite man schedule an appointment and I'm going to be dropping it off I will update after I get my truck back but just based on how he conducted himself over the phone and the knowledge that he had of my truck and the problem I have no doubt in my mind but this is a good reputable business and I can't wait to get my truck back

Snooty place. They too good to work on stuff that they consider too hard. If you need to pay too much for bolt on service this is your place. If you need real technicians. Go somewhere else.
