Like most here, I feel compelled to leave Steve a 5 star review!! We were in our van and had planned on doing some dispersed camping but we re finding out how much was already closed in November! It was getting dark and we pulled up to this cute little motel to make a game plan. We went in and asked Steve for a room, but even better, he was willing to give us a place to stay in our van for the night!! He s got great merch, lives on site and has an awesome record collection! You can tell Steve is just one of those people that goes out of his way to help others and has such a genuine spirit. The pool looked pretty nice too during warmer weather!Food & drinks: Great little roadside restaurant next door. They do BBQ but the burger is definitely the thing to order!!

Of course I had to check out the Andrus(s) Motel on a recent trip hiking at Sonora Pass and the upper part of Yosemite. Originally I planned to stay here two nights, and move closer to Yosemite for the next two nights, but I liked this motel so much that I spent all four nights here. The room was clean, mattress was new and very comfortable, good water pressure, and the microwave/refrigerator worked well. What worked amazingly well was the Wi-Fi, probably the best I ve ever experienced at any hotel/motel I ve ever stayed at. That and all the charm/quirkiness of an out of the way well-kept mid-century motel. For some reason Google isn t letting me post photos from my phone at the moment, bummer.Nearby activities: Lots of great places to hike along highway 108 (about a 15 minute drive south) heading up to Sonora Pass. The Tioga Pass entrance to Yosemite is about an hour and fifteen minute drive south, and much of the drive on US-395 is quite scenic. Also great hiking along the much less-travelled highway 4 Ebbett s Pass is about one hour s drive.Food & drinks: Above-average burgers and BBQ are on either side of this motel. Nice place for breakfast is about 1/2 mile up US 395. Nearby general store has basics and had free fresh fruit. This motel has outdoor grilles and some other guests were using them to cook fish they d caught nearby.

I absolutely adored this place. So quaint and quintessential. The housekeeper was a super sweet and helpful person. She was the MOST helpful person there and just so kind-hearted. She was super good people. The rooms are adorable, clean, and very well-maintained. The artwork in the rooms was cool. There's coffee is you want in the room. The beds were super cozy. I slept so well here. I will absolutely be back.

Nice little motel in the middle of nowhere. Friendly owner (actually the son of the owner and his wife). Pretty cheap and room was fine. Short walk to an excellent BBQ joint.I mean, if you're in Walker, CA, you don't have many choices on places to stay anyway, but having stayed in many bad motels elsewhere, this was a very pleasant change.

We stopped here after driving late and I wish our trip allowed for us to stay again on our way back. Fully decorated for the holidays, the owner of was sweet, the room was warm and homey, the beds clean and comfy. The little touches, like a full size coffee maker with good coffee, soft towels, hardwood paneling, extra large shower- all made our quick stay memorable. Thank you for a warm respite on a long night.

What a gem! After a long drive we pulled into this family owned business for a respite. They let us check in late, clean rooms, piping hot showers and lovely porch area to have a cup of coffee on. THE NICEST TOWELS IVE EVER USED. Support local business and enjoy the beautiful views here.

The downright perfect place to relax! The room had a fridge, microwave and coffeemaker and a lot of tv channels. It was clean and comfortable. The property is so quaint and tidy. The highlight of our stay was the pool. It was not only inviting but is ten feet deep and there are deck chairs and floaties. We were there for a quick, lazy getaway and this place totally obliged. A very enjoyable stay!

I stayed here last year for a few winter nights and loved it. The room was rustic but not the least bit funky. Totally comfortable, relaxing, loved that it had a kitchenette, completely fit my needs. Owner is great, personable, helpful, knowledgeable about local things, places, roads, etc. I look forward to staying here again since I love the area.

Had to leave this review while we're still here because that's how amazing this place is! From the gorgeous surroundings to the immaculately clean rooms to every amenity you could think of, all brought to you by Steve and his hardworking staff! Our family has decided on an annual visit here for years to come, and although there are many places to stay, Andruss just feels like home! This place is a must stay!

A cute old fashion motel with a little bit of the 21st century. The motel was spotless, the king bed in our room was soooo comfortable. The room had everything we needed, a fridge, coffee pot, microwave. The swamp cooler kept us cool and comfortable on those warm days. The key system was one we have not seen before. It was a round fob that you pressed to the back of the door handle to open. Very slick. It can also be controlled by Steve, the owner, remotely. Talking about Steve, what a nice guy. He took the time to talk to us about the area and never seemed to be in a hurry to run off when we know he must have had a million things to do. The motel is close to everything, including walking distance to Walker Burger. How can you go wrong. A bonus for this cute motel is that they are pet-friendly. This is our first stay, but we will definitely be back.

This was our second time staying at the Andruss Motel in two years. The motel now has a new owner who is very personable and relaxed. Great atmosphere inside and out. The rooms are dated as you would expect from a motel of this age but extremely clean inside and out. The porch setting. fire pit, and fish cleaning station was a very nice addition to the stay. We will definitely be staying again.

The Andruss Motel is a piece of paradise. What a wonderful surprise... We were just so tired... Looking for a place to catch some zzz's. But much to our surprise... We found this ourselves in one of the nicest motels I've ever known. Everything there is done right. Down to Every little detail that I normally wouldn't even notice... Is done right. We stayed there on our way down south. We stayed there on our way home. And I plan on staying there again for a weekend getaway... When we already live in a vacation destination. Lake Tahoe. The owner lives on property and makes sure everything is done right. Thank you Andruss Motel for doing things right. And for being one of my favorite new vacation destinations.

Owner very friendly, hospitable. Motel offers a clean, relaxing atmosphere. Great place to getaway. Not alot of places to eat, basically no healthy restaurants, but if prefer a good burger, steak you should be ok. Prepare ahead with food, drink. Motel has a barbecue area and pool.

A very pleasant experience every time I visit. They provide a home away from home for travelers, especially fishermen. The hospitality offered is some of the best I've experienced anywhere. The rooms are comfortable, clean and well maintained. I highly recommend this accommodating establishment to anyone traveling in the Eastern Sierra.

We stayed at the Andruss Motel for a week! What a great place! The rooms were nice and cozy, and the hotel is in the perfect place in town. It s a short walk to Walker Burger, the Sweetwater Cafe, and the flea market. Rex & Mary, the owners, are awesome! Wonderful hosts and full of local information. They are adventurers themselves and can tell you the history of the area and where to find hidden spots out in the mountains.

I had a great stay here. The owner Steve is the nicest guy. The battery died in my motorcycle and he offered me a jumper cable along with shelter in his lobby area and even offered me free food and drinks. 10/10 highly recommend!

Welcoming, warm, and easy to rest in. Steve is hospitable, and he treated us like a friend upon arrival. The motel looks like an old lodge with a modified edge, tech works great, Beds we re comfortably clean with good pillows, reminds me of a my pillow. Much better than a stop in city. My only hindsight is to ask for a room separated from adjoining guests.

we stayed there sometime early Oct, 2018, and the owner is very accommodating. The room itself was decorated really cute, and extremely clean, and well organized, the bed is large and firm. you can definitely tell that the owner maintains this place as his home.

The motel is located in an extremely cute little town with a cute little burger shop right down the road which was very good! Unfortunately this is the last good thing I have to say about my experience at this motel. The carpets are extremely dirty and feel like they haven't been cleaned in about 6 months or longer. I dropped my phone behind the bed to find a bunch of dead bugs that were about the size of half dollars. Went to the bathroom and there was a cockroach about 2 inches long by the sink, and also behind the curtains there were a ton of cobwebs with insects in them. The room had a weird odor to it especially when you went into the bathroom, almost like a sour smell. I was very disappointed due to the fact it is such a cute town. But shout out to walker burger because they really have amazing food!

UPDATE: We just spent another 2 nights at the Andruss for the 4th of July, and again were super pleased. The new owner is very nice and was quick to fix an issue with the swamp cooler. We will continue to stay here, and highly recommend! We just spent 3 nights in the family room and couldn't have been happier with the stay! Our room had 2 queens and a twin, plus a coffee maker, microwave and a much bigger mini fridge than we expected. We were able to store some meat for BBQing in the fish fridge. The BBQ area had 2 gas and 2 charcoal BBQ's, and plenty of table space. The kids spent an entire day in the pool, and pool towels were provided separately from shower towels. It was a real hometown feel with great service. We will be back! It was much more affordable than overpaying in Bridgeport for less room and less service!

We're on our second year returning to "The quiet side of California" and staying at the Andruss is a must. There is a pool, bbqs, horseshoes, cornhole boards, fire pit, outdoor movies, picnic tables and a small playground; all on site to keep you entertained and relaxed in between seeing the sites abound. The ghost town of Bodie, Yosemite and other national parks including Mono and June Lakes are all nearby. The office/lobby is well stocked with snacks, local craft beer and wine. Steve, the owner, runs an absolutely amazing establishment and we can't wait to go again next year, and the year after that, and the one after that, making this a family tradition.

Awesome spot. Open in the winter, owner is super friendly and helpful. One of the best fishing bases for the summer as well. Bring sunscreen for the pool!!

UPDATE: Andruss Motel apologized and did not charge me for the night's stay I had reserved but could not make due to the wildfires. Their phones and internet were down for several days. I do wish they had contacted guests ahead of time or at least posted their alternate contact number on their website or social media, figuring guests might need to cancel due to the wildfires. Not being able to get in touch with them caused me a fair bit of stress. However, they did not charge me, and I appreciate that! I drove by the property later in the week when the fires were out and the place looks adorable. I'd definitely try to stay here again.ORIGINAL: We booked a night here on our way to Yosemite. Because of all of the wildfires, we decided to cancel our trip. I have been trying to get a hold of the motel since early on Friday to cancel, but have received no response via email and both listed numbers are constantly busy or say they have been disconnected.
