If you need a shop that has people who know how to work on lifted trucks, then this is the place for you!I installed a new steering set up on my 07 dodge ram 2500, and I needed someone with experience in dialing in all the components. I tried 2 places up in lassen county 3 different times, and they could not adjust the steering correctly. I made an appointment with payless 4 wheel drive and took my truck in hoping they could finally fix the issues. After talking with the guys I could tell they had the experience to set my steering correctly, and they did! Instead of bouncing around trying to find a shop to help me out with the things beyond my capabilities in the future, I'm making this shop and these people my go to place for my truck and my wife's H3. They even buffed my headlights to be nice because they were very faded! You will not be treated better anywhere else! The personnel have always been friendly and helpful to me. I have had all my smog tests done there every two years with no problems. However they are currently not doing smog tests so they recommended another establishment.

I have used this specialty parts store & installation shop for many decades now. Bill & his staff are very knowledgeable & helpful. Recently, I was in the market for a suspension modification on my Hummer H2. My Hummer has air lift suspension that I wanted to keep. So it requires very special and specific parts. Bill's staff went to work on it right away diligently. Within 2 days they had identified the correct parts, quoted a price for those parts, as well as the price and time length for the installation. I have and continue to trust Bill and his staff to tackle any 4 wheel drive project I have.

I always get my smogs done here, because the owner is fair, honest, and charges very reasonable prices. Additionally, they get your car done as fast as possible. I'm planning on having more work done here in the future. Very recommended!

Made an appointment and was able to get in the same day to get my vehicle smoged. They got me in exactly on time with no hassles. Quick and easy. Great customer service and very friendly people. Would recommend highly

They did a great job putting on a lift on my truck! I have worked with a lot of shops and they are about quality and not quantity. From standing and listening, they gave their honest opinions even if it meant they didn't make the extra cash. I will be returning!

I was kind of upset with my first time dealing with them. Paid for a smog job and paperwork said Pass went to DMV and waited 2hrs to hear I really didnt pass and went back to the shop and the lady was rude like I made the mistake. Never got my money back because I coupdnt pass so I left.

I live in Austin but bought a 1970 Bronco sight unseen from a private owner in Chico. Before I bought it, I had it taken to Payless 4-Wheel for a complete mechanical check-up to ensure there weren't major issues with the vehicle. They identified a few odds and ends that I would need to fix but gave it a clean bill of health. $400 well spent I thought! I bought and had the car shipped to Austin, started it up (it was difficult to start) and drove it to my mechanic to address the issues Payless found. While driving, it dangerously yanked hard to the right when braking at high speed. My mechanic looked over the vehicle and verified both front and back brakes were bad and the back needed new drums, the fuel pressure tested low which he later found a leaking fuel line and bad fuel pump (this was causing the starting issue). He also identified a tick in the engine that could be heard when revving. The tick, which Payless completely missed, led to me needing a new engine. We were able to drive the Bronco home but ultimately towed to the engine shop. All in all, I spent well over $4000 for a new engine, the things my mechanic found as well as list of odds and ends (a number of leaks, a loose tie rod and loose u-joint) that Payless identified.I spoke to Bill the owner immediately after learning it would need a new engine along with all the other things Payless had missed. He agreed to reimburse me. He never did, and he hasn t responded to me since (2 months later).I would do everything in my power to steer clear of these guys. Bill talks a good game- he certainly did with me, but when it comes down to it, I m living proof that Payless clearly cuts corners and there is no quality to their work. Unless your smart enough to check their work, they will take advantage of you- beware!2 years later and still upset. Found good, reliable, honest shops in Austin and all is well with the Bronco.Thought I'd be over this by now but no!

This is one of the worst mechanic shops it town. They are over priced on parts and labor. Their quality of work is poor, and that is if they even do the job in the first place.If you need a smog try another place they will fail your vehicle on a visual inspection and still charge.Would not recommend anyone to go there. Plenty of other options find someone else.

I went in just asking to get my truck smogged and the older lady at the counter was very disrespectful. I misunderstood a question and she immediately got annoyed and treated my friend and I terribly. DO NOT recommend. Definitely never going back in to such a badly run place.

I had Payless 4wd work on my Toyota back in the 90's and was glad to see they are still in business. I needed a repair on my 4x4 van while passing through town and they had me on the road with out an apointment. Great service and skill in custom repairs.

Went in for a smog check. I have an appointment the day before at 4pm and was able to pick any time for the next day. Smog check was fast! In and out in 20 minutes. Very friendly people.

Payless 4WD is by far one of the best mechanic shops around. Took my truck to NVD in Yuba City spent $600 on a problem that was 'fixed' Bill and Mark were able to fix the existing problem on a budget. Really great shop with even better service. Would highly recommend to anyone especially for 4WD and suspension work.
