Brought them my RACECAR Heads for a rebuild. Heads sat in shop for three weeks and nothing was done to them. The owner Don spoke down to me after my third in person visit and fith phone call to check on progress. They only refunded half my deposit when I had finally had enough and told him I was going to just go to another shop. They never even took one thing apart. He claimed they cleaned the heads but they were still covered in carbon and dirt/oil Beware of this shop unprofessional Cocky owner and employees. We will not use this shop for anything again. Used them once in the past for the rebuild of one of my Yacht engines and had a bad experience as well. I tried to give them another chance but it was a mistake.

This place is a huge waste of your money. Workman ship is by far worst I ever experienced. This is what a cleaned block and head looks like. They charged 300 bucks to clean the parts they never touched with a cleaning brush or even with their hands. There is still old oil in oil passages, top still has dust on it from been in the car. This motor had a bad rod, so shavings in every Grove, and no caps were removed to clean any of it, on heads or block. Just a joke of a place, don't waste your money. Not to mention was told 4 days max and 8 days later saying I never said that. Go else where

After checking their website, I called hoping they also sold anti-theft devices such as The Club & the T-shaped steering wheel lock. (They don't carry these items.) The gentleman that took my call was polite where some businesses really miss the mark.

Everyone meet Don. Don is the big dog at motor machine.I dropped off a couple cylinder heads a little while ago. Don kept telling me he would get back to me with an estimate on my heads. I would follow up a time or two per week but never got that call or that estimate. Weeks would go by.I talked to Don last Thursday and he promised progress(an estimate) by Friday. He hadn t touched the heads, short staff and whatnot. I called on Monday and Big Don threw a teenage fit. I m rushing him . He did so much yelling over the phone I had to check on him in person.I got there and he was being nice as ever to someone on the phone. Go figure. I wanted my heads back so he charged me for an imaginary pressure test. LOL what a piece.Don is not honest. Don picks and chooses who to be rude to. He grew up in a different time, after all. So it s not too surprising. Don t be like Don.

I didn't realize his quote for building an engine for me was quoted lower for purchasing parts through him. I located parts for a lower price that I brought to him to use. He explained his quote and I explained I was a novice and did not realize how he quoted me and offered to pay him more to compensate for any loss of his. It seemed like he understood and he would build the engine. Months went by and I went to check on the engine. It had not been completed and the owner gave me an attitude like described in other reviews. You can quickly tell he is not someone to try to talk to or work with. He must have the money and customers to not care how he treats people. I lost all desire to continue my project and counted my losses making sure I left him with enough money to weigh on his conscious, if he has one. On top of it all he knows I'm a disabled veteran with very limited funds and I was hoping to use my truck build in my recovery from recent surgery and dealing with life as a disabled veteran. I hope this helps to prevent anyone else from being treated like I was.

I had a horrible experience with the owner of this shop. Let's just say this guy promotes violence in his workplace and threatens two keep your vehicles even when no services we're done. This guy is extremely rude and has no customer service skills whatsoever only cares about big purchases. I had a friend tell me about his experience. He recently went to the shop to purchase a few items but the owner ignored him. By the time the owner talk to him he said he only deals with big purchases that his small purchases doesn't make him any money. Once again he was extremely rude to a customer.

The staff is abrasive which is not a lie. I stopped by to get a estimate on doing some head work and installing new valve/springs. I felt very uncomfortable and frankly out of place. They seem to specialize in older domestic cars which is fine but not what I own. Based on the most recent reviews I will not be using their services as the place does look dated and they do not do foreign cars it seems. Also don't bother to email them as the replies are slow, and blunt, which is fine but does not install confidence in someone wanting to be a customer and have such a critical engine part worked on.

Don't spend your time or money anywhere else. The owner Don is a very knowledgeable and honest guy and the front man Marshall is straight up with you. There were some difficulties with my rebuild but they let me know up front and didn't give me the runaround. I will be doing a lot of business in the future with them that's for sure! Thanks Guys!Jim Siepert

Best machine shop period bar none. 5 motors and zero issues. Be nice and you get treated nice. Prices compare with Summit on parts. I WILL NOT USE ANY OTHER SHOP. I have in the past and that's why I use Motor Machine. Don Mike and Rick are the Best.

Not to be trusted. They give your parts away before you can look at them and build unreliable motors. My engine lasted only a couple thousand miles before a valves hit pistons. There are far better engine shops in the area you can trust.

This shop has the experience and equipment to do any job. My experience at Motor Machine was nothing short of stellar . Not only did the owner spend his time to explain all aspects of my build, but he also explained the pros and cons of some information I have gotten from a few forum boards. This was without spending one cent. The prices were extremely competitive but more than that the knowledge was second to none. Another high point was all machine work would be performed in house, which is rare because out of all the shops I called (10) in Sacramento, this was the only shop that didn't have to send certain components out to be machined. In turn the engine I bought from Motor Machine is an extremely strong combo and made more horsepower and torque than anyone with the same combination on various forums. All was verified on their SF-902 dynamometer. This speaks volumes to me and anyone thinking about having an engine built.I wouldn't hesitate to have Motor Machine to do any of my future builds. If you are on the market to have any machine work done or looking to buy some performance parts check out Motor Machine you will not be disappointed.

Once you get to know the owner he is awesome. They do excellent work and really care about their customers. I've been dealing with them for almost 30 years. Don will go way out of his way to help you.

Honestly these reviews are unbelievable. Motor Machine has matched Summit and Jegs on every thing. Nothing they have done for me has ever had an issue. The owner can come off as abrasive, but that just adds to his character. This is my favorite place to go seek advice and spend my money.

Friend of mine with a 2.0 Mitsu was sent there. They rebuilt the engine. $2500.00 Well the engine sat in my friends house for 6 months. He started to get ready to install. So he took it back WITH the plastic wrap on it and all there tags. They won't re-set the warranty. Other shops have no problem doing that. That is a normal thing. In fact they were rude and basically told my friend to go Scr@# him self. Can't believe what I herd. No wonder they say you can't go back and see the shop area. There hiding somthing. The other reviews are correct. Go elsware.... UP DATE. 5-5-13 Things they did wrong.. The timing was off, belt tensioner installed incorrectly, the balance shaft that is driven off the oil pump is sticking and causing the oil pressure to drop. This destroyed the timing belt. Now I need to pull the engine go in and remove the balance shafts and install an eliminator kit or re-do the balance shafts correctly. They should spin nice and free. Not lock up and make a squeaking sound. They lost the balance shaft plug, left out the fuel pump rod. Miss adjusted the MCA jet valves, They have no idea how to work on a Mitsubishi.STAY AWAY. They might be OK with a domestic engine but any shop can build them. It takes a mechanic to fix somthing technical where you need to pay attention to detail. So this week I will go through the engine with my friend and check all there work. I should not need to do this but how can we trust what they did. No oil pressure is a rookie mistake on there part. We will have a complete wright up on this engine on MightyRam50 nnet, including pictures of what was done wrong. They did not even clean up where the front seal rides on the crank

If I could give less than one star I would. They are one of the worst businesses I have ever dealt with. Don is so grumpy he shouldn't even be working anymore. The place is a pig sty, which should have told me how unorganized and awful my experience would be. They don't communicate, even when Don would promise to call back within an hour or by the end of the day, he NEVER returned a call until I left a message that I was done waiting (after 3 months of trying to just get a price from them) and was picking my motor up. When I got there it was in 15 boxes spread throughout the building and they couldn't even find everything. When I took the parts to another builder they found the pistons were out of round because Motor Machine had dropped them. Valve guides were destroyed because they removed them wrong. The crank they turned was unusable because they over turned it. They still have some of my parts but I know I will never see them. Don't believe me? Try talking with Grumpy Don and look around that pig sty when you go in and see how unorganized it is. Decide for yourself but BEWARE! Don is beyond a jerk.

Couldn't even press in a ball joint for me. I brought my hub in to have my ball joint pressed like I thought a machine shop would do. I guess the little jobs don't matter like the big jobs. Don't bother with this shop.
