Attention to detail in every aspect; rooms, grounds, food and staff is unsurpassed. The bed linens are silky smooth. The bed was so cozy that I slept for 9 hours straight! The extra food snacks and drinks make me feel special. The infinity hot tub is not only beautifully designed but so comforting it s our first and last stop when we come to the property The bathroom is amazingly beautiful: spacious, clean, with instant hot water! We cannot wait to return!Rooms: So large clean furnished beautifullyNoteworthy details: Great rose garden

Had a wonderful stay at Bernardus Lodge. Rooms were beautifully furnished and had fireplaces and balconies. Lots of nice touches such as wine in the room, bathtubs with bubble bath. Also enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi. Great place for a relaxing weekend.Nearby activities: Carmel downtown about 9 minutes by car

Hubby has been wanting to bring us to Bernardus for quite some time and we finally made it!This spa and lodge exceeded our expectations in every way possible. The fantastic food was a delightful, coupled with spacious and amazing rooms that made our stay incredibly comfortable. The staff's friendliness added a personal touch to our experience, making us feel truly welcomed. And having access to the spa all day was an absolute luxury, allowing us to relax and unwind whenever we pleased. A truly unforgettable retreat! Not to mention their pool and jacuzzi is 24 hours! My 9 year old had a blast! We're definitely returning to Bernardus!

Our second stay at Bernardus. Hard to believe but the lodge has only gotten better. We absolutely love this place. The staff is incredible. Lucia is one of the best dining experiences. We stayed with our two dogs which was also a great experience. The grounds, pool and jacuzzi were pristine.Nearby activities: Bernardus is somewhat secluded but conveniently near Carmel by the Sea. Easy 15 minute drive to town and the dog beach.

We came for a spa day to celebrate a friend's birthday. The spa, warming pool, warming room & pool were beautiful. Being right before Christmas we had the place largely to ourselves. My friends both had massages which they said were great. The mountain view was lovely and the space is very comfortable. Please note - there is a road noise that can be disrupting in the spa area.A few comments -This lodge and spa are very expensive. One lunch - sandwich, burger, salad + juice, coffee was $180. And honestly was not super. If you're going to charge prices like that my chicken should not be dry, my pomegranate mocktail should not be bland and mostly ice, mint and lime. The food was underwhelming. (The service however was great - I really appreciate your excellent staff).Snacks/Tea in spa area: Please list if your produce, nuts, dried fruits are organic. Please stock organic teas not in microplastic laden tea bags. The spa personal care products - shampoo, body wash, conditioner etc - these are usually something I look forward to at a spa, however the products at Bernardus felt like an afterthought. All the fragrances were eucalyptus centered, but more perfumey than real. The pumps were flimsy. In short, I would never buy these products. They seemed fake and low quality. For the prices that were charged, I expected a little more attention to detail. I do however applaud your amazing staff. Everyone was helpful, capable, and made us feel very comfortable.

I had the recent honor to photograph a wedding here and Bernardus has become one of my favorite wedding venues to shoot at here in the Bay Area. Not only for the friendly and relatable staff who made me feel welcomed, but the great views, the beautiful spots for portraits of the bride and groom, and the getting ready suite, all are reasons why I love it here. Plus, you can t go wrong with the restaurant food. Anyone who is looking at Bernardus for their wedding, this is a great option!Rooms: The suite next the lavender area is perfect for getting ready portraits! Bonus that it s a few feet away from the gardens where many have their wedding.

This review is for the Lucia restaurant within the hotel. The service was lovely, Henry went out of his way to be terrific. The low rating is because the tapenade on top of the fish main contained an entire olive pit, which caused me to painfully crack my tooth. I informed the staff and they seemed very unperturbed and awkwardly asked to take the olive pit. I assumed they wanted to take the olive pit as proof it was in the tapenade to show the kitchen staff, but no one ever came back to acknowledge the big mistake. Feels like a pretty alarming thing in a luxury hotel to not (at the very least) comp the dish with the olive pit, let alone come over to apologize for serving a meal that chipped my tooth. They just completely swept it under the rug. This was totally a mistake on their behalf and the lack of acknowledgement and accountability was shocking. I would definitely give your meal a thorough inspection before risk taking a bite, unless you don t mind spending hours at the dentist and hundreds on a medical bill.

Exquisite, luxurious, worth the $$$.We were able to check in early without being charged an extra fee.Ask snack and beverages in room are complimentary. We were planning to stay some place else and go to the Refuge, but it was closed and we really wanted to sauna and steam at a spa. I found this place. We lived the spa, then went to the infinity spa which was so relaxing, my sister spoke to a lovely couple for 1.5 hours giving them details about life in Brazil. We had the best time and will definitely be back

Stayed here as a weekend getaway with my mom and had the loveliest time. The second you step on the resort you re greeted with a glass of wine and the friendliest service. I messed up and didn t get a rental car, but the staff was so nice is letting us test drive a Mercedes for the afternoon and one of them even drove us down the street to the winery so we wouldn t be late to our reservation. In my opinion there s not a bad room on the resort. They all have beautiful views with patios, a fireplace, and a spacious bathroom. All of the staff is super accommodating and truly so sweet and nice. Such a relaxing place to get away!!Walkability: Not within walking distance of much. Make sure you rent a car as Ubers and Lyfts are hard to come by in the area.

I recently had the pleasure of spending a luxurious weekend getaway at Bernardus Lodge & Spa, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations! From the moment I arrived, the serene ambiance and stunning surroundings captured my heart. The well-appointed rooms were incredibly comfortable, providing the perfect retreat after a day of exploring. The spa experience was nothing short of indulgent, offering a wide range of treatments that left me feeling rejuvenated and pampered. The staff's attention to detail and warm hospitality truly made me feel like a valued guest. One of the highlights of my stay was the car weekend event hosted by the lodge. It was a treat for auto enthusiasts like me! The lineup of classic and luxury cars was impressive, and the guided drives through the picturesque landscapes added a unique dimension to my visit. The culinary offerings were a delight, with the on-site restaurant showcasing local flavors in the most exquisite manner. From exquisite farm-to-table dining to cozy evenings by the fireplace, Bernardus Lodge & Spa provided an unforgettable experience that perfectly blended relaxation, exploration, and automotive passion. I can't wait to return for another unforgettable stay!

The Bernardus Lodge and Spa is wonderful. The rooms are well appointed and the supporting staff takes care of every detail with outstanding housekeeping, bell service and immediate response from the front desk. The restaurant is excellent and the overall feel is like you are home - not in a hotel. The Spa services were top notch and the best part is when you arrive you are given a glass of wine from the Bernardus winery! We will be returning for a visit in the future.

This is a review of Saturday brunch on the patio, not the lodgings (which BTW look absolutely wonderful). What we experienced today was fine vineyard dining at its best. The brunch menu was simple and fairly priced. The wine was fabulous, the sun-splashed patio was amazing, the live music was just right and the grounds are stunningly beautiful. We had one upscale dish -- the chicken breast with garden vegetables -- and one downscale -- Memphis-style hot fried chicken sandwich with fries. Both were excellent. And the wine -- Bernardus chardonnay -- was spot on. Service was excellent. A printer snafu in the kitchen kept our order from getting processed on time, so we were comp'ed two soups and a *very* generous second pour of wine. All in all, a great experience. If you go, be sure to stroll around the flower gardens. They're really something. We're already making a booking to go back.

A great experience but a greater DISAPPOINTMENT in service from the reception ladies. Both at check in and check out they were rude and didn t leave a good impression. The front desk is normally what sets the tone and makes the first impression of a hotel and unfortunately everything left a sour taste after passing by the front desk. What a shame because the restaurant, staff and rooms are good otherwise.

I have very mixed feelings about posting this review. Bernardus has always been synonymous with "luxury resort spa." It was such a mixed bag. This was my third visit and each visit has been increasingly more disappointing. I attributed the limited menu and amenities in the last visit to the pandemic, but there were too many things this trip that could not be ignored. We booked a room on one of the busiest wedding weekends and weren't surprised when an ADA room was the only one available, but why should Americans with disabilities have any less luxury, right? We called an engineer for an issue with the fireplace and they were prompt, but how do you call someone back out for stained curtains, dirty bed frames, and mildewed shower heads? One of the two sinks was also clogged but we were so over it we didn't even bother to call. When we mentioned the poor condition of the room the person at the main desk stated "Well, you were in an ADA room." I wasn't upset by the chair in the shower, but rather the condition of the shower and the room itself. It did not feel like it was worth the money spent. The spa was amazing (as always) and the front desk staff were always helpful and informative. We had exceptional service at the valet with all but one attendant who was abrupt and somewhat rude. We had one server named Henry who was phenomenal and everything you would expect from a high-end restaurant, but we had another server at lunch who served us food with an allergen after we asked him to confirm there were no specific allergens in the meal. We reported this to the manager of Lucia (the restaurant) and she took care of this. Overall, the menu was uninspiring and not full of many options for various diets. We felt heavy after every meal as most things were fried or coated in mayo-heavy sauces or butter. We started eating out after our first few days. The grounds of Bernardus are gorgeous and it's clear a lot of time and effort goes into this. I wish the same consideration would have been put into the rooms and the restaurant.Food & drinks: The drinks are phenomenal and the in-house wine was wonderful. The food is mediocre and certainly not the best in the area or as luxurious as it once was. You can definitely find higher end outside of the hotel.

From the moment you step foot onto the grounds of Bernardus Resort and Spa in Carmel, CA, you know you're about to embark on a truly luxurious experience. Every detail, from the impeccable landscaping to the stunning decor, is crafted with care and attention that leaves nothing to be desired. The staff at Bernardus Resort are some of the friendliest and most accommodating people you'll meet, eager to assist with anything from restaurant recommendations to arranging spa treatments. Speaking of which - the spa at Bernardus is truly top-notch, offering a range of services that will leave you feeling utterly relaxed and rejuvenated. And let's not forget about the dining - every meal we had at this resort was exceptional, from their farm-to-table cuisine at Lucia Restaurant & Bar to more casual bites poolside. Overall, I cannot recommend Bernardus Resort and Spa highly enough - it is truly an oasis of luxury nestled in California's beautiful Carmel Valley.
