I had a plastic (not great) radiator hose coupler crack on me while I was driving down to Bishop from Mammoth. I was worried I would have a hard time getting it towed in such a rural area to a town 45 mins away but Chris was able to pick me up and give my car a tow all the way back up the Sherwin grade.Good tow company but good luck finding a mechanic to work on your vehicle that isn't booked out 3 weeks in advance if you're passing through. Luckily for me I was able to resolve the issue myself with a generic 3/4" coupler and hose clamps from NAPA.

I have several friends that have used them and they have repeatedly over looked stuff that is going to go out later while giving you the vehicle back and or breaking something else and not telling you so you have to keep bringing the vehicle back. One friend spent over 5000$ there having to keep going back and its a nice truck!

We had mechanical issues on a Saturday, and contacted AAA for the tow. Jordan from Mr K came to our aid. He went way beyond what was required, taking us to 3 different mechanics in Bishop, and making calls to get my car serviced on a Saturday. I could not thank him enough for his willingness to go the extra mile. Thanks, Jordan!

My Honda CRV's Car Battery died on May 1, 2022, and I got stranded during a road trip at Rock Creek Lake in Bishop, CA. My friend drove me down to town so that I could call AAA. I was connected to Ed with Mr. K Towing. Ed followed up with a phone call, explaining that he was running behind schedule due to Fishing Season just opening up, with more towing service calls than usual. I waited 2 hours for Ed to show up. My friend drove us up the mountain, and Ed arrived to the spot. Thankfully it was a simple Jump Start, and I was back on the road! Definitely worth the wait!Ed explained to me that Mr. K does not offer Battery Service, because it would compete against the Auto Parts businesses in the small town of Bishop, CA. He recommended that I get a new Car Battery from O'Reilly Auto Parts in Bishop, CA, which I did.Ed was very courteous and very helpful! So helpful, that others nearby who were also stranded and saw his Tow Truck passing through, walked up to him to ask for roadside assistance right after mine was completed. Now I know where to go if I need towing and/or Auto Repair Services again while in Bishop, CA. Thank you so much, Ed and Mr. K Automotive!

A quick thanks to the team. After a tyre blow out on a rental car with on spare. The tow truck driver provided good conversation on the 60 mile round trip as well as organising an "after hours" tyre shop (Perez Quality Tires) to supply & fit a new tyre so we could continue our OS holiday, Vegas here we come!

I was stranded in my undrivable car 10 miles north of Bishop in 100 degree heat and got a more than 4 hour run-around from a local tow company. I called AAA and they contacted Mr. K s. My car was put on the tow truck within a hour. Thank you to Mr. K s and Forrest, the tow truck driver, who came to my rescue.

I had my transmission break while on vacation and the folks at Mr. K could not have been better. They were super helpful in getting my car onto their lot and then awesome about dealing with the repair. Highly recommend

There are honest people in the world. We had a completely dead battery when we returned to our car after a backpacking trip. Luckily, we were able to get jumped quickly by someone else at the trailhead. My wife stopped at Mr. K in Bishop, CA to have the battery replaced, but the mechanic at Mr. K tested the battery and confirmed that there was nothing wrong with it. He definitely could have told my wife that it needed to be replaced but he was honest and didn't take advantage of the situation. Much appreciated.

Mr. K's has a good reputation in Bishop, but anyone expecting AAA covered services will find only sketchy help, particularly if you are driving an RV. They no longer offer roadside battery replacement (only jump) and they cannot tow even a small motorhome with their current equipment. Despite paying for extra RV coverage for years, I had to scour through listings to get what I needed, at my own expense.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Battery

Can't thank our tow truck driver Chris enough for picking us & our dog up after being stranded on 395 for 3 hours yesterday. Super professional, courteous, & friendly during our 36 mile drive back to civilization. The shop was also helpful providing a jump for us even though we weren't able to get our truck fixed there due to time constraints! Great Service! Thanks Mr. K's!!

Great service. We had a flat tire on buttermilks rd in the evening on Thanksgiving day, and this was one of the few places open and willing to help us tow our car into town. Very very thankful!!

Wow, the folks at Mr K saved my trip. The "Legendary Diesel Repair" place in town could not even look at my vehicle until the following week. I made my appointment at Mr K for the next day at 8 and I was back on the road by 10, and the rate was more than reasonable. I went back to cancel my appointment I no longer needed with the "Legend". I got the impression they are more interested in servicing commercial accounts anyway. Mr K has gained a new customer and I will share this with my diesel owning friends who visit the area.

My dad and I decided to try our luck with fishing by a river located off a sandy road off the main highway. To make a long story short, we got stuck in the sand and we exhausted ourselves trying to find someone to pull us out until Vance from Mr. K saved the day! He called us soon after we left a voice message and from there our hope was restored and they were great! Thank you Mr. K and your driver who was young but very knowledgeable and helpful! We highly recommend Mr. K s towing service.

I was driving down the 395 back from Mammoth and the "Low Voltage" indicator turned on in my Jeep Grand Cherokee. I initially thought the problem was Battery-related. In pulling into Mr. K's shop for a quick-fix before making the long haul back to LA, they were able to identify the issue as a water pump failure > affecting the alternator > pulling down battery power. Mr. K's mechanics were able to have me back on the road within a few hours. Staff was compassionate, completely understanding of my time sensitivity to return to Los Angeles, and very professional. Thank you

Totally impressed with the whole staff at Mr. K's...I highly recommend. Thank you for getting us home safely.Service: Engine repairService: Engine repair

My husband was hiking in the Sierra's this last week...on his way up his car overheated. He landed in Bishop afterwards in need of a mechanic. Mr Ks got him in (and out) immediately. They were professional, honest, efficient, and down right awesome! Couldn't have asked for a better experience, and I'm so glad he's back on the road on the way home with minimal delay!!

My Prius hybrid system malfunctioned stranding me and my son about 4 miles outside of Bishop in miserably cold snowy weather today and Brad of Mr. K Automotive & Towing came to the rescue. Brad arrived in about 20 minutes, towed us to the Toyota dealership and was nice enough to drive us to our Motel. Love that Mr K Auto has a reasonable rate policy when towing into Bishop. Thanks Brad and Mr. K Automotive for the exceptional service.

Mr K has only trained certified mechanics working on your vehicle. I've found them honest and trustworthy. The cost is always reasonable and they are timely. I would recommend them.

Over the years I've spent over almost $3,500 in labor with Mr K's. All of the automotive shops in Bishop are in high demand and mostly take advantage of it. Mr K's is typical bu the most expensive. They have a few experienced good mechanic and a bunch that got there certification online or from the back of a box of kids cereal box. On every occasion I've used them (3) I got the vehicle there on their on time but it for a week. The first tmee was a problem I was having with the rear breaks in a old Ford pickup thst I recently paid $400 for. The rear break calipers were leaking and they quoted me their very very high shop rate times the work hours (all car shops charge work hours from a manufacturers book that gives work hours and procedures for every possible operation that could be done to a vehicle; some operations maybe replacing the drive shaft will have work hours that are much higher than the actual time it takes the mechanic to do so if the mechanic has a lot of these that say allow two hours for things that only take him a half an hour he can work 6 hours in one day, but will earn 24 hours and bill 24 hoursn; if the procedure is the opposite, you will find you have a problem that no shop wants to touch because it will take them longer to do it then the shop hours will allow them to bill for. You are very lucky to have found a mechanic who will bill you a reasonable price based on actual time). So the formula is always cost the parts + " shop/work hours from table/computer times the shop hourly rate. And you may get a maestro of repair doing the work and it may be done perfect or you may be getting a clown who will monkey around with the area in question enough that things will be different probably worse when you get the car back. But whether they're highly skilled, educated and motivated or just there cuz their probation officer made them get some job and all their good for is sweeping the floor and only if they're watched. You will pay the same for both of these people.I got the ladder on my first interaction mr k's. The rear brakes needed replacing as they were covered in brake oil so the brake cylinders also needed to be replaced. This is really straightforward work and they quoted a a reasonable price for the parts (all rebuilt and all from Steve's). However when looking at it they failed to note the axles or also leaking and needed new seals. a more experienced mechanic looked at it as the other work was being done and now my vehicle was in a bay and on a lift. So they called me and gave a price I could afford to do the seals but it turned out the only available seals from Steve's, were high performance seals that cost over five times what the seals they had quoted me were to have cost. but they had the okay from me to do the job so they just got those seals because even though they didn't mind keeping my car lying around for weeks when it wasn't in their way and they were using public streets as storage, now it's an emergency to them and they care less whether I can afford to pay as much for the seals as I did for the whole truck. So they did the job but they never did fix the problem. The bill was horrendous. But the ABS still didn't work and the brand new back brakes locked up. I started carrying weight around in the back of the truck to keep the rear brakes from locking up. They had put a monkey on fixing my brakes and charged me the same as if there was somebody who knew something. my second occasion was to go to them as I had a Eaton rear locker I wanted to have installed. And I was told by several 4X4 type people Mr K's had the only machinist in town who could do the job and do it right. They do have a excellent machinist / mechanic. However the installation of a ARB ait pressure activatd locker, requires electrical and plumbing type skills. And this guy just flat refused to do those things properly and left a mess although the rear end locker seems to work perfectly and the rear end makes zero noise. But simply due to the fact the mechanic disliked me personally, or too uppity todo wireing- it's FU

I never write reviews. But I was stranded in the snow locked out of my car and my technician (Gabe I believe) did everything his power to unlock the vehicle. We tried everything and it just wouldn t unlock. Right before we gave up, his thinking outside of the box was able to get it unlocked! Very professional and excellent roadside assistance.

The transmission in my Dodge Ram 3500 stopped working last summer while on vacation and towing a boat. AAA contracted Mr. K to tow me 75 miles to their shop in Bishop. They could have taken advantage of me in a BIG way but they did just the opposite. Even though it was late in the afternoon on a Friday, they performed a quick diagnostic on the trans and determined that the repair was fairly minor. They stayed late, fixed the problem, and had me on my way to pick up my boat in less than 3 hours!A GREAT group of people at Mr. K!

I am on vacation in Bishop and my car was leaking oil. I feared a serious problem. Without an appointment and with a backlog of work, they put my car on the lift immediately and diagnosed the problem to a minor power steering leak....AND they did not charge me at all. I opted to tip the mechanic. Very thankful for their response. Strongly recommend this shop.PS: Avoid A&L Auto Center if you can. A rude and abrupt man there named John would not even look at my car, despite their office making me wait 2 hours.

Well the travelers nightmare happened to me. A weird on again off again brake problem far from home. Mr. Ks helped me track it down - which was difficult because it turned out to be computer related and made worse by defective parts. They figured out the problem and made my truck safe to get home. Their charges were more than fair. Just what broken down travelers pray for. If you are unlucky enough to find yourself in my predicament you couldn t do better than go to Mr. K.

Two Moms and four kids(all under 6) traveling from AZ when we started to have car trouble with the alternator. We received over and beyond service from the Mr K operator!!!! Bob was amazing, he jumped us and sent us into town to get repairs. Unfortunately we didn't make it the 20 miles into town and ended up at the side of the road. There was a brush fire a mile south of us, and a forest fire North of us and blazing summer heat and wind raining down on us! Bob picked us up, took all our luggage, brought us to a local motel, got us a discounted price, gave us tips for food, brought our car in for the repairs. He was a light in a very stressful and scary situation. Mr K-reliable, trustworthy, knowledgeable, fast and professional!! Highly recommend!

My Father used Mr K auto for many years and spoke highly of them before he passed and then passed his car on to me. I've called them twice with questions about the history of the work on his car and both times they were fantastic.
