An older motel off the main road in Big Pine, probably one of two places you could stay in the small town.395 was closed and we couldn't make it to our destination, all of Bishop had no vacancy and we had no other choice but to backtrack to Big Pine.We chose correctly though! Although the rooms are dated and the walls are made of it's original cinder block, this motel was very clean and quiet as advertised. A cute little family runs this place. The woman on the phone was so kind when we called ahead to reserve the rooms for the night. The older gentleman gave us snacks, showed us to our room and oriented us to the heater as we had a very late arrival. He even made some jokes. He was very endearing.The beds are updated and the sheets are clean. They have some toiletries available to you in the bathroom (toothbrush, soap,cups). The heater works SUPER well! The refrigerator was clean and worked well. Extra blankets readily available in a walk in closet space with luggage stands.I would recommend this place and I would stay here again.Rooms: Clean and quiet. new beds and clean sheets.

The owners/operators are very nice and hospitable. They re around when you need them and are super helpful.The motel is old school, but floors have been upgraded to wood from carpet.This motel gets the job done if you need a place to crash! I would stay here again.

I am going to start with what I liked about our stay here:The owner is an absolute sweetheart, super friendly and nice. Our room was equipped with a brand new, comfortable bed. The sheets and towels were spotless and overall the room seemed clean.BUTThe room was super dated to the point that we could not really get comfortable other than on the bed. Everything seemed dirty even though it likely wasn't.There was a huge wet spot in the walk-in closet. The fridge started leaking in the night. There was no wallpaper, just painted brick. Overall, the room seemed just sketchy. I am very sorry for not being able to give a better review as the owner really seemed to try his best to make this place as comfortable as possible.Walkability: There is not much to do in Big Pine. When we stayed there, only one restaurant was open and we got our coffee in the morning at the gas station.

What a gem of a place I managed to get myself lost, and when I finally found my way I called Praveen, who organized a room for me within 10 minutes, and when I got there after all the local restaurants were closed, he fed me from his own fridge! Big comfy King sized bed, clean room, spacious with a fridge, microwave and coffee machine. Big wardrobe and ample sitting space at both the desk and dining table. There are all the amenities like towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap, comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, even a disposable makeup wipe. I hope I get to come back again one day.

Wow! Just wow. The nicest people in the world own this place. The husband/wife team are there each day, working the desk, cleaning the rooms & getting to know their visitors. He even waited for us to get in our first night late, around 11pm. We were offered juice, milk, chap stick, maps, you name it!It s an older property. Probably built in 50s or 60s. It hasn t had much work done to it but they have done the absolute very best job they could with the place. It felt extremely clean and no detail left out. Very good toiletries too! They give out the best lotion! I am obsessed!! It is so much better than your typical cheap hotel stuff. We had wifi, coffee, microwave and plenty of towels. They also have little snacks and juice out on the shared patio, so cute!I can t say enough good things. Highly recommend!

A very pleasant and charming stay in Big Pine. The rooms are old school but well-kept and clean. The owners are super accommodating and kind, always asking if they can get you anything without being intrusive. There s a nice outdoor area for eating or enjoying a beer at the end of the day. Overall I definitely would recommend!

We stayed here on July 12th after hearing some amazing reviews and needing a last minute place to stay. Tushar is amazing and SO accommodating. He took myself and three others, as well as my small dog in at the last minute. Room was very affordable and clean. Nice deck with a barbecue and plenty of seating outside. He also has a fire pit and fish cleaning station. If I could leave 10 stars I would. We will definitely be returning.

Stopped here for one night stay on our drive from Lake Tahoe down to Palm Springs and it was a delightful experience. I actually selected this motel over any other because of all the positive reviews and they were point on. Owners were the most hospitable hosts we've ever encountered, down to their little touches like offering free chapstick and candy / granola bars left outside the rooms. And while the building wasn't modern, the room was extremely clean. Definitely recommend this choice if you need a place to stay in Big Pine.

I recently stayed here for 6 days. I live near by but my house flooded due to a busted pipe and I needed somewhere to stay while it was being repaired. The people were so very kind and empathetic. They webt above and beyond to accommodate my every need. The room was so clean and so nice. I was treated like family. I cant say enough wonderful things about this place that helped me so much at a very stressful time in my life. Thank you Starlight you are certainly the best.

The management here is the kindest people I have ever met. They went so far above and beyond, there is no way to adequately express my gratitude and appreciation. They truly saved my family and I in a time of need (we were stranded with tire issues at night) If you are looking for a nice place to stay, where your business is greatly appreciated... stay here! These folks are absolutely wonderful.

Nice little motel! Stayed here one night in a king bed room. The room was extremely clean and the bed was comfortable. Many amenities - fridge, microwave, TV, complimentary items such as toiletries, snacks, and juice at check in. Some of the rooms are pet friendly and we even noticed an outdoor sink and table area provided for fisherman to clean fish.

The owner was extremely nice came outside to greet us when we( myself and co-worker) arrived. The rooms somewhat out dated but the bed was comfortable, tv was very new. All in all I enjoyed my stay. I would definitely stay here again if ever in the area.

Absolutely the BEST hospitality possible, at any price, any place in the world. Really. And i have stayed in a lot of rooms ranging from Penthouse suites to B&B's to Murder Motels. The owner is also well traveled and most interesting to visit with. THOSE BEDS THO!!! Brand new AWESOME thick mattresses KING size in all rooms!Super clean, quiet, secure, comfortable, and friendly. If only all lodging was like this! Thanks!

This motel and it's owner are gems! I have never experienced such a high level of hospitality and kindness. Upon checking in the owner was knowledgable about the local eateries and told us how much longer they would be open. He went great lengths to make sure we were taken care of. There were generous complimentary snacks when we arrived and juice with granola bars in the morning.The room was very cozy, but incredibly clean and had plenty of storage options to keep your luggage out of the way. The heating / ac unit works really well and kept us cozy despite the cold temperatures outside. We never ran out of hot water, and the water pressure was amazing. The beds were surprisingly comfortable. It won't be the most comfy sleep of your life, but it's better than most places.The owner seems to have thought of everything inconvenient about staying in a motel and worked hard to remedy them.There is also an adorable bbq and fire pit area and a fish cleanin sink.In my opinion, this place is an incomparable value. Stay here. You won't regret it.

Can't say enough positive things about our stay here! The owners are very friendly and accommodating. They make sure you feel welcomed. Not to mention the fair price for clean and cozy rooms. Definitely recommend!

Tushar was very welcoming, and it was a quiet and clean place to stay in the Eastern Sierra's. The price was a bit high for a motel, but I didn't realize what sort of view I had until waking up. I was also the only person staying there for the night. I'd definitely stay again!

This has to be one of the best little roadside motels we've ever stayed in.Tushar, the owner, is wonderful. What a helpful man! He goes above and beyond to make sure you're comfortable at his motel.He let us know the hours of all the nearby eateries. What attractions are nearby. And not only did he know what was happening in his little town of Big Pine, but he was knowledgeable in what was what in neighboring towns as well.The rooms were quite and clean. The view of the nearby mountain range was spectacular.If you're ever traveling down the 395 and need a place to spend the night you can't do better than the Starlight Motel.Thanks Tushar!

Very friendly and helpful owner. Hotel is clean with cable TV, but the wifi is spotty and the outlets (came with sockets and USB ports) didn't actually charge my devices. Room has a large closet but the tiniest bathroom with only a shower stall. Owner offers juice, fruit, and cookies. No breakfast. For a country hotel it's very nice, but a bit pricey.

Very very very nice hosts. I felt like I was visiting relatives. Rooms are clean, had tv, fridge and microwave (ton of other hotels don't nowadays), toiletries and Carol, host, even brought snacks for kids. Will definitely recommend

Owners are so friendly and offer great rates. They helped me secure a room last minute when Priceline double-booked our hotel in Bishop. The property is old but they have newer wood laminate and tiled floors, flat-screen tv, comfortable beds, and a nice variety of soaps, lotions, coffee & tea. They also had juices and breakfast snacks available in the morning. We hope to stay here again.

Wonderful new owners! You will not find a host friendlier than Tushar anywhere else guaranteed! He and his lovely wife treated us like family, not just travelers passing through. Great recommendations for local dining too! Very clean rooms with nice cozy beds. I very much look forward to my next visit. Thank you for a wonderful experience Tushar, top notch service my friend!

Great place ! The owners are very friendly. My boyfriend & I rented a room for a night. The place is really clean, bed was comfortable. What I liked a lot was the front they had a little place with table , chairs & have a bbq pit ! Highly Recommended it :)

We were on a road trip and hadn t planned an intermediate stop. So we resorted to looking around at Big Pine. Because it was last minute, most places were full. But at Starlight we were greeted by the amicable Tushar and Carol who managed the motel together. Even though it was inconvenient for them they provided us a room for the night. The service and the amenities provided were much better than any other motel we ve been to and in fact better than in some hotels. There was a unique personal touch to the services too.If we drive up north again from LA we would love to stay here again. Would highly recommend.

We stayed for one night last week as it was the only place with a vacancy at a good rate (we were in town during the mule parade, unbeknownst to us!). Tushar, the owner, was super friendly and helpful. We were given room 14 and it was very clean and well-kept. My husband woke up around 5 am to a little bug on his pillow, at which point he turned on the light and proceeded to find 4 more just like it on the clean white sheets. They turned out to be bed bugs in their second larvae stage. We confirmed with our friend back home that owns a pest control service and he advised us what to do to prevent them spreading to our luggage and home. We showed Tushar and he told us about some group before us bringing their own bedding and how he had the place sprayed right after they left. That's great, but you need to have it sprayed every 5-7 days. He refunded us 50% of our one night stay, which in hindsight we should have probably received a full refund given that we have had to spend money to prevent the bed bugs from spreading and infesting our home. I give this place 5 stars for the friendly and accommodating management, and for the fact that the place is clearly well taken care of (clean bathrooms, crisp white sheets, etc.) - other than it needing to replace its mattresses and really hunker down on eliminating the bed bug problem.
